Hello,
1) I wanna ask you guys what course(s) should I take if I wanna get to offshore? 2) Does my engineering discipline interfere with the choice of course that I will be taking? 3) Can any one of you share with me the link where I can apply offshore-based courses? Thanks. |

Dear All,
I have been working for around 1 and half year now and recently,my company just ask me how much do I want for my salary as they wanted to bond me with the company, let say for 2-3years bond. Sex: M Age:28 Position : QHSE Engineer/Lead Auditor from QHSE Department - Quality,Health,Safety and Environment Company Profile : Small Offshore Company related to Site Investigation/Soil Sampling Offshore ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor Degree of Civil Engineering, University of Malaya Kuala Lumpur Certificate of Safety and Health Officer, National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Johor Bahru. SKILL PROFILES Possess valid Offshore Sea Survival Certificate, including H.U.E.T and Basic Fire Fighting,MSTS Asia H2S Awareness Course Certification, MSTS Asia Drill Floor Safety, MSTS Asia Permit To Work Certification, PETRONAS Basic First Aid Helper, Red Crescent Society Malaysia. Accident & Incident Report Certification, NIOSH Oil and Gas Safety Passport (OGSP) Examination, NIOSH. Quality Management System Auditor / Lead Auditor ISO 9001:2008 (IRCA Certification) Integrated Management System (IMS – QMS, EMS, OHSMS) Process Based Internal Auditing I'll be frank with everyone,my current salary is only RM2500 without any bonus for the past year. So,for all the head hunter or HR or professionalls out there, how much is my real value and how much should I demand for the current trending? |

Dear all,
I just wanna ask, if you look at StarJob last Saturday, there will be walk-in interview for various position especially engineer (Keppel, SG Company) at Times Square. I have 2 questions: 1) Is it a good exposure before I go to Oil and Gas since it involves ship fabrication? 2) It says preferably 2 years experience, but I only have 8month internship experience. So should I try? Seniors please help me. |

As far as I know SI company paid quite low. Besides his experience is only ~1 year. Maybe around RM3.5-4k I assume.I would say somewhere between RM5000-RM8000 would be OK. |

Yup,true..offshore SI company paying is quite low although it is critical and there are not many major players in Msia (3-4 maybe). So,I have to jump to other company to get better salary i guess, not by internal promotion. Even my previous assistant manager received low salary, and the company keep give him same amount of contract for 2years,he just simply walk away and didn't even bother to renew his contract. How sad |

Well, if that is the case, you may want to consider moving to better opportunities. But unless you current companies can offer good working experience, then I would suggest you to stay a bit longer to gain the experience. Later on with the experience, more opportunities will come to you. So,I have to jump to other company to get better salary i guess, not by internal promotion.
