O&G, HV- if you have technical skills in that; possible to path yourself in but paper wise position is pretty hard, cos they need peeps that know how right now; old days of paper can get in is not anymore

Petronas involvement is power generation might just be in Gas field site or power generation.. other than that; unless you have the guts to go offshore- which require your technical to work on.

Shell; now more focus on the upstream offshore work; not very sure if they going to expand n have the DS E&P type yet.

You might want to try power generation company - since you are in aus; why not work there?  laugh.gif

Company in Aus power generation seems like they need alot; compare malaysia; which actually have it; but plan to develop further.

Advice: try to get instrumentation stuffs in you really want to go into O&G; really helpful ... um; ask empire23 abt why instrumentation; one of the forumer in /k/' he`s also same field as you but not power generation. smile.gif

Really bad times in Australia. It may seem to be in demand and stuff but it is not as easy as u think

Bad economy, hard to get PR. to get PR, only way is to get all 8's for IELTS.

No PR no job, no Job No PR. Very sad

Im still young so I think i'll give my best to endure all that. Is there any technical preparation to be done before the interview? since you had been interviewed before by them.

Dear all,
I just wanna ask, if you look at StarJob last Saturday, there will be walk-in interview for various position especially engineer (Keppel, SG Company) at Times Square.

I have 2 questions:
1) Is it a good exposure before I go to Oil and Gas since it involves ship fabrication?
2) It says preferably 2 years experience, but I only have 8month internship experience. So should I try? Seniors please help me.
*
Yes you should go for the interview and try it out. If I were the interviewer, I will look for the following attributes:-

1. Basic engineering skills and logical thinking
2. Communication skills, ask if you are not sure, don't assume
3. Physically fit and outdoor type
4. From your 8 months experience, you should be able to relate what is the importance, priorities, what improvements can be made and lesson learnt.

Working in a valve company, what are the prospects to join other companies? Looks like it's not so well paid at the moment.

Ex-Petronas. I am happy however that Petronas is now willing to pay all sort of bonuses and perks to their staff. I think for Tier 1 & Tier 2 staff, it will be a lot higher than the 5 months.
