just leave malaysia and go bro.. nothing is great about malaysia other than the food.

bear in mind fresh grad engineers in malaysia are in low income group now. only malaysia can achieve such thing, MALAYSIA BOLEH!!!!!

for me, i would say its one time chance as always u can hear people getting job offers to work in Korea.

if u are married or u have family here, u can get the cheap air asia flights..

my advance best wishes bro..

create a blog or twitter and update us on the life there as an engineer.. thumbup.gif

Hello everyone,

Any experienced Welding Engineers in here ? Or anyone knowledgeable on the prospects for someone in this position ?

I've been reading a bit about the typical job description as well as the certifications available, but I have one big question for which I can't seem to find a good answer :

What are your prospects/options after say 3 to 5 years on this kind of job ?

I'd really appreciate any information related to this. icon_question.gif

In my humble opinion, after 3-5 years, go to manufacturer, work as the manufacturer`s management, R&D, or even sales

try Kobelco, CigWeld, WIM, etc... all are specialised in welding consumable and machines

my friend works at petronas as certified welder got >RM 5K

BOCAD to structural engineer is equivalent to PDMS to Piping Engineer.

Welding engineer, go the NDT route and abseiling then go freelance, u get daily paid and get onto contracts. A friend of mine who went that route a few years ago after i advised him is drawing in above of 370k per annum and he is only 27 yrs old.

As for entry into the OnG sector, ESPECIALLY in miri, Yes you do need someone on the inside, preferbly not family. I only decided to work in Miri after more than 15yrs after my dad retired, and STILL i have to live up to his name. Every marine contractor and even shell still remembers him DAMN!. But if you guys are looking for a way in, do drop me an e-mail with ur resume of course and i'll ask my friends and see if they're in terested. I'm not offering anything solid, but just to get you noticed. I have a very large network, where even shell n petronas staff ask me to help them get jobs elsewhere. I should open a head hunting agency! lol. but i love my job here! If you are interested in short term projects also I can arrange, I do not burn bridges and always keep in touch with my former colleagues as I was freelancing till a few years ago.

So let me see where I can help. Oh yeah send ur c.v.'s to zyon55@gmail.com
