i read somewhere in whirpool australia forum, they said the motion rate is just a marketing gimmick..just go to tv shop, compare side by side 50 and 100 or 240 motion rate, theres not much diff..

anyway,using UA40C6900...series 8 is cun,but no money la to buy,student la katakan.. icon_idea.gif

UA40C5000 is 5 series while 6900 is 6 series

5 series is 50 hertz while 6 series is 100 hertz if im not mistaken.

there's a few stuff more in diff,u can compare at samsung website then decide wheter the extra money is worth it

im using UA40C5000 currently.....very satisfied with it

saw the UA40C5000 selling RM3599 at Harvey Norman..

the question is...is Samsung tv reliable?

most that I heard, it's not that long lasting for most of it product..but they do make the best LED tv..

most world review rave about samsung..and for info, that UA40C5000 is an international model..you can found it in the rest of the world, not just in Asian country..unlike other brand..

but then again..review is about quality, not reliability..which is my main concern.

ok,for picture quality wise, samsung series 5 LED tv produce too vivid and artificial pictures.
If you use for gaming purpose,it's a good choice.

RM6k still consider expensive knowing it's a fake LED right (heard someone said earlier). Any good store or shop selling with good rate? hmm.gif

^^LED is is the back-light of LCD, it was not touted as anything else... only the ill-informed does not know any better....

Heck if you just read the brochure (Sony's product/model listing for example) you will know...

How long is the warranty? I heard we can extend it till 7 years? Correct me if I'm wrong. Snatching 46" LED (Series 6) for RM5.8k is sweet bargain bro. No doubt. Wish I was there with you. We can snatch together lol.

Now, the durability of Samsung is in question. But for Sony I know it can last longer then Samsung. Fill me in please.

Day by day, I getting headache on choosing reliable LED. Hope end of the day, can get a good quality and price of of this puzzle LED quest LOL

40" LED Series 6 UA40C6200 RM3,299 - bought it today from SengHeng grand opening, good deal imo from RM3,600 2 wks ago. i think diff from 6200 and 6900 is just black, brown border and Internet TV
well not set in stone until they physically deliver the item though

from this forum I learn,
1) keep away from Philips
2) next in line, is Samsung.

800/3=260++/year .. emm .. actually, you can insured the whole house content for 50K and pay 200++/year .. i need to check on this what's the insurance coverage *off topic* ..

just got my wifi adaptor yesterday (got it from HERE ).. plug it to my TV, connect to my streamyx, update the internet@TV and enjoy the FB,YouTube,DailyMotion,Twitter,Games and many more widget. Tried to connect the TV and my notebook using AllShare, but unsuccessful. Will try again. Well, this wifi thingy is something cool to have but it's not necessary .. the dumb thing is, this TV cannot use other wifi adaptor other than samsung brand (if i'm not mistaken, the brand is LanStick) .. duh rclxub.gif

Any idea of the latest price of the 40C7000? Are there any retailers who's offering a bundle of 3D-BD player and 3D glasses with the TV?

Thanks

Just got my LED UA40C5000 a few days ago. biggrin.gif Just wondering whether you guyz updated your firmware yet? I checked at Samsung official website, there was one firmware update release in October. Not sure whether my LED TV already at the latest version or not.

Don't get fooled with Senheng offer. I've asked the Samsung office pertaining to this. Why Samsung dealer cannot beat the Senheng price, or at least as cheap as Senheng? He told me that model LED TV UA40C6200 is 'very' specially manufactured for Shenheng only.... brows.gif Actually, the *so call* Series 6 LED TV UA40C6200 sold by Senheng, have technically specification same as Series 5. They just wanna blur (or blind) ur eyes only.... If anything happen to the TV (which is bought from senheng) then u have to send to senheng, not authorized Samsung dealer... and the spare-parts is from Senheng, not Samsung. nod.gif

So, think twice (or 10X) b4 u go for that offer. remind me if my information is wrong.

that's just my 1 cent friendly opinion. tongue.gif

p/s: better u buy original Series 5 from autorised Samsung dealer....!!! (i think. icon_rolleyes.gif )

Hello all,

I just got the 40C6200, very happy with it, it's a huuuuuuuge step up from my Sony 32" that I bought 2 years ago. I was quite unhappy with that TV mostly due to poor black level and high response time resulting in blurring when playing FPS games. Although I must give credit for its reliability after 2 years.

I took the normal 3 years warranty, the sales guy was pushing for the 3+2 year warranty which gonna cost some money, I just said no thanks, in my head I was talking to myself "in 3 years time this TV will be obsolete in terms of technology and I most likely will be buying a 3D TV which will be dirt cheap in 3 years time haha!"

Some pros I would to mention:
- Picture quality looks really vibrant, I think it's because of the glossy screen. They say trust what you see, that is true, I went to many different shops and have compared the picture quality, only Samsung and Sharp LED caught my attention, not even Sony impress me, except for those high end (200hz they call it?) which gonna cost you a bomb.
- The black level is really impressive, if you read online reviews, some say Samsung LED actually come close to the black level of Plasma.
- Media playback is easy, have the TV connected to the router with the LAN Jack and install the media server software to my PC and some permission/firewall settings and all good.
- Motion plus feature (100/120hz) is probably the best thing that I like, it can actually improve frame rate when playing game, with movies it can make the motion look like a drama instead of movie. This is probably the function that stands out at the shop when there's so many display without it, so it's easy to compare with and without it.
- Although the remote control look like a normal remote control, it's lighter than the Sony one that I had, plus it has backlight which is good if you can't see the buttons in dark room.

Cons:
- Only 1 component input, I have to share that 1 component input for my Xbox and Wii
- Sound is crappy, but then again who buys TV for a sound? haha!

Some questions to current owner:
1. How do you check the usage time?
2. At what level is your backlight? I find 15 is pretty good for all, gaming, movie and TV drama.
3. Motion plus, do you have it off, standard or smooth?

my setting
1. (pick somewhere)
- Switch on the power to the TV and let it be in the standby mode. Do not turn on the TV.
- Pick up the remote control, and quickly press the following buttons in sequence:

Info -> Menu -> Mute -> Power.

- You must be fast enough to press the magic sequence to enter the technical calibration menu screen, or else you will just end up switching on to the normal TV channel.
- Press the Power button to exit the technical calibration screen and put the TV back to standby mode. Do not make any change to the technical setting of your TV unless you know exactly what you are doing.

2.
mine is 7-9

3.
smooth

Hi, some technical question on audio setting.

1. Is it possible to connect the TV (for TV1, TV2, etc) to the amplifier/home theater system without using optical digital cable (audio)?
My TV set is 40C6200.

2. Another audio issue is, when I am watching, e.g. TV2, I can hear the sound from another channel (noticeable when the scene, movie, advertisement, etc in TV2 is not having any sound). Anyone encountered similar issue? I am not using Astro by the way.

Thanks guys

my setting
1. (pick somewhere)
- Switch on the power to the TV and let it be in the standby mode. Do not turn on the TV.
- Pick up the remote control, and quickly press the following buttons in sequence:

Info -> Menu -> Mute -> Power.

I heard that the warranty dept is not so good, it takes almost a month to repair n return.

that's y I listen to my fren who run appliance business, Panny with 5 extended warranty years.

P/S: the sales manager said most LCD or Plasma will down after 3~5 years period. so......... good luck!

The promotional brochure from Courts Mammoth has one item about a 'branded' 40" LED TV selling at RM2699. The image shown has the hallmark transparent round neck and square platform design of the Samsung UA40C5000. Has anyone gone to confirm this?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Correction: My bad, the promotion actually states, 'Branded 40" LED TV FROM RM2699' and they used the Samsung photo as a representative. I think the price could be a few hundred ringgit higher than that. The RM2699 most likely refers to another brand?

6200 series isnt exclusive for senQ worldwide, but it is exclusive for senQ in Malaysia. I think Samsung has some "partnership" deal with selected retailer for this model, u can even find 6200 model in Singapore, when i asked about 6900 model at courts mammoth singapore, the sales person actually showed me the 6200 model and ask me to get 6200 instead, he told me... same as 6900 except missing a few features , namely "internet@tv".

Courts mammoth singapore is selling the 40 inch 6200 model at Sg $2600.

Regarding warranty, the SenQ sales people told me that for 6200 series, the first 2 years is covered by samsung authorised service centers, however , they provide a total of 3 years warranty... and the third year will be covered by SenQ. Then, he goes on and on about this 5 years warranty extension plan offer by SenQ which i didnt bother to listen too much.

If anything happen to the TV (which is bought from senheng) then u have to send to senheng, not authorized Samsung dealer... and the spare-parts is from Senheng, not Samsung. nod.gif

Bro, this 6200 series not same spec as series 5 laaa... unless samsung "pakat" with senQ to cheat us, coz 6200 series is listed as series 6 in Samsung MY official website. you can see the spec there.

I have finally got the replacement panel from samsung earlier! they way the warranty for my 6200 goes is senheng will call samsung for the parts, samsung will call you and send someone to check the TV. The guy from samsung will look into the issue and after a week of waiting, I got my replacement part at last. To say the least, I think it was a good service from senheng but the bad thing was it took a week for my panel to be replaced. Well as long as my TV works im happy with it.

Oh btw, I went to sengheng yesterday to checkout the TVs they're selling as im a big fan, I saw sharp, sony, samsung and panasonic side by side. All LED TVs and I have to say that samsung has the best picture quality. that's my opinion though! smile.gif

I have not done such side-by-side comparison. Generally speaking, I can not stand Sony's color being too artificial. Panasonic is softer but more natural. Samsung is somewhere in between.

hi im planning to get a 40" samsung 6200 or 6900. In the other forums, (not in malaysia) there is a lot of talk on the led tv making movies look like "soap opera" i.e. looking fake, too sharp, handycam effect etc.. the tv is however very good for news, docu, gaming..

do any of the owners have this issue? and is there anything that can be done to counter it? Most discussion pin the blame on the 120hz thing (m not too sure what they mean)

the pitfall in comparing set in shop is

1. lighting is totally different from our house. unless the sets set up in special dark room.

2. the tv picture menu is 9/10 already tinkered with contracts set to maximum to achieve "clear" picture under shop's lighting.

my advise is to politely asked for the remote of each tv thats in your list. set it back to normal/standard/etc and compare again.

i have one experience where i asked for the remote and the salesman refused by saying sorry, no remote. he had a chore somewhere and went off, so while i was viewing the tv, saw the remote just above the blu ray. took it and press menu. contrast was full at 100. he saw me and came straight back so i said, i like tv and want to check a few things, its ok right?
he shrugged. next i said , hmm you set contrast at 100 ? thats standardlah..was his answer.

as anfieldude always said, its best to make an informed decision. thats including checking back what they are making you to see.

happy hunting.

hi guys, need some advice. hopefully anybody can help. thanks.
not much of a problem actually, but i just needed some idea of the workaround.
currently i am watching MKVs file using the built in ledtv player. to get sound from HT set, i simply use an optical cable connected from the ledtv to my old yamaha rx-v420 (no hdmi support)
well end month am planning to upgrade to onkyo 608. with this new receiver, i want to connect using hdmi for both audio n video. at same time, i will connect a ps3 to the onkyo receiver as well.
my question is, do i need to connect the hdmi to input on the receiver n make the output back to the ledtv? will it work?
or probably the most suitable question is, what should i do ya? hopefully somebody can enlighten me. thanks smile.gif

if not then i will still use the optical for the sound solution for the built in tv media player n use hdmi for the ps3

just bough a UA46C6200, 100hz with LED series 6 ultra thin, 5M:1 ratio.. super best for my PS3 experience with monster game link cable... make sure u dont get fake monster cable.. it is really huge different. just game link of 2.6gbps data rate is perfect work like u see at E3 exhibition.

hi im planning to get a  40" samsung 6200 or 6900.

Thanks!!

This is interesting and now that you mentioned it, I sort of agree. When I was deciding on which TV, I looked at Plasma and LED.

The Samsung LED was showing Transformer 2 and picture was super super sharp. It was very very impressive at first look. But when they have this close up shot of the actor's face, I felt it is so sharp that it does not look real, more like artificially drawn video game character.

Then I looked at Panasonic Plasma. It was definitely not as sharp. A bit sharper may be nicer but the color is much more natural. Then when you think again, when you look at your real human friend, it wasn't LED type of sharpness either. So at the end of the day, I conclude that Plasma is definitely more natural in color and also in sharpness so IMO, a better choice for movies (not cartoon).

Ya, sometime I still hope Plasma can be a little bit sharper.

Thanks to all the LED/LCD Guru's out there for your time regarding this.

Samsung LA40C530 or LG 42LD460/42LD450?
1) Mainly used for mom seeing astro/astro beyond
2) Used for Animations from 480p-720p(Using External non powered HDD or portable HDD), would be great with 1080p as well
3) Contemplating on using a hd media player instead of built in..need recommendations for this...
4) Can I use HDMI connecting from laptop/notebook to the TV? Would it burn my graphics card in the long run?
5) Should i go LED technology instead? Since its newer and new confirms the availability of spare parts in the coming 5-10years?...
6) Really hoping for good quality audio for the paid price as I'm really fussy when it comes to audio quality.

Really having a headache choosing as this is my first time contemplating over purchasing a LED/LCD/Plasma TV... My main focus is for it to last a long and reasonable time in both terms of durability and repair(Spare part availability)

Thanks alot!

also about UA40C5000 for samsung and corresponding LED tv within its price range?

Planning to get it before Chinese New year..

Anyone bought from here, price very cheap but no sure if it is real.

I want to buy UA55C6200 ( no need 3D or internet on this model but screen must be big and sharp ), so more a less this model suit my requirement. Any idea and suggestion where to get the cheapest offer ?

I found the link above and it is very cheap, something is not right unless SenQ and HSL and others really make that much of margin out of the normall selling price.

It is really cheap! With Samsung bluray player somemore... can't believe....

LED 55" brand new Samsung RM4000? You go buy it and let us know whether true or not, haha...

I think probably a typo...should be RM14,000 instead of RM4,000.

Why dont u ask for Cash and Carry?

Just test it BEFORE you pay your cash, then carry home and enjoy....

Or check with Sammy whether they are valid dealer or not...

Anyway, I really think it is a scam....

As I mentioned in other thread, this model is suffered with bad crosstalk and ghosting issue. If you can live with it, go ahead and buy since this is the cheapest 3D LED TV in the market so far. But, I strongly recommended you to bring your own 3D movie or 3D video clips and tested on the TV before you buy it. Let your own eyes be the judges.

Cheers!

Hi All

yesterday i just bought my LED 40" TV 6200.

in SenQ, Plentong Gaint. left 3 units for sell at RM3199.

after consider and get it, added 5 years warranty RM429

so totally very satisfied. not regret for choose from samsung,
because that time i saw in series 5, 40" LED 50Hz at RM2899 before CNY.
so now i'm no regret for purchase series 6, 100Hz.
to compared it's faster moving motion.

My read told me it does not support the new 3TB HDD.

IMO, external power HDD like 3.5" should be more reliable... But I do not like it as it require addtional AC adapter...

because TV is never too big. brows.gif you should buy the maximum inch of TV eventhough
your place is small because it is a sin not to do so. Since he has sinned, the 40" become

No black lines on my 40C5000; but I see smearing when there are red jerseys moving on the green field.. eg. for matches involving Liverpool and MU. Other teams (not with red jerseys) are ok. It's more obvious on Astro HD sports channels.

on the contrary, backlight bleeding are quite common in LCD and even in LED backlit LCD.
i reckon it affects them edge lit LEDs more (rather than array backlit LED).

turn off the ambient lights (which you can't possibly do in a bright showroom) and play a blank screen. the flaw will light up like a christmas tree.

Yup. Mine is having minor bleeding under dark room.

Wondering whether anyone of u all experience it too. Cause when I ask the sales
person in Best Denki, he said there is none of these issue even after thousands of sales.

Which I find I hard to believe. Mayb it ony affects the few picky customers.

Did you mean the difference between c5000 and d5000?
The major thing is that C's are 2010 models while the D's are 2011's, and it's been said that there's been significant improvement over the year. tongue.gif

And about the backlight bleeding, this could be an interesting read...

At first i was wondering if it could run rmvb files since most of TVB series are in rmvb.

after tested it, omg...i worked and i'm killed by the poison already...... haha...

So have anyone tried to update the firmware? is it necessary?

UA40D5000PR for RM2199...how many years warranty?

My TVB series are in MKV containers. I do have some old series in RMVB which I can watch via UA40D5500.
I didn't update the firmware cos it is currently working fine.

Good price!
I'd update to latest firmware on last week.
Just download the firmware file from samsung website and run it with a USB disk.
It will extract the files into USB disk and you can update your TV firmware via UBS option.

They are promoting their additional +2year warranty...but need to pay RM300+ (if i not mistaken)....but duwan la....

Electronic good will fail within 6months if theres something wrong. else, it will last long...

If you divide the screen into Top, Center and Bottom for 3 portion... The Center image is duplicating at the Top...

Anyway, it is solve after replace the panel... Yes!!! The whole panel.... And really scare me off with its reliability....

No doubt Samsung Contrast is damn good... But reliability is really scare people off... Imagine if not

Anyway, if anyone know how to use DLNA feature to stream remote contents, please share the whole experince ya... notworthy.gif

Btw, what do you think of the media content compatibility on the Samsung? My experince is about 70% from my contents... Or we end up better buy dedicated media players?

Any recommendation for 40'' or 42'' LCD or LED TV?, USB support is preferable.
I mainly watch Astro (Non-HD/Byond) and sometimes I do watch some 720p films downloaded from Internet too.
My budget is around or below RM2000.
If possible, can anyone list out where can I get the best deal in Klang Valley area? (FYI, I live in Setapak)
Thanks first. rclxms.gif

based on phelix post, LED --- UA40D5000PR = RM2299 at Harvey Norman

if LCZD, u may try LA40D550/551 ---- could be lower than 2000 (go to samsung LA40C550 thread)

Hi guys,

As you know 2TB HDD is much more affordable than 3TB version...

Thus I wonder if Samsung TV such as 46D5000 can use USB HUB and connect to 2 HDDs? So I can have 2x 2TB external HDD connected to it? hmm.gif

chanhin, 2 HDD in both USB ports is not a problem. HDD can select thru the source USB1 or USB2.
I would suggest to setup a Plex Media Server for your samsung TV.

pickup urself?

IMO, Seng Heng trying to PASS BACK the TRANSPORT cost to you.

don't agree with them, insist them to send to you.

BTW bro, when u receive the TV, make sure check the usage hours (some member here said they received a 'USED' set in stead of 'NEW').

--- update, how-to step to check the usage:-

QUOTE(Fred @ Dec 22 2010, 11:25 AM)
my setting
1. (pick somewhere)
- Switch on the power to the TV and let it be in the standby mode. Do not turn on the TV.
- Pick up the remote control, and quickly press the following buttons in sequence:

Info -> Menu -> Mute -> Power.

Hi all,

Would like some feedback / advise from existing Samsung LED TV users...

I'm upgrading my LG 42" plasma to Samsung 46" LED TV..

Could not decide on either Series 5 or Series 6...

What is the Series 6 SMART TV thinggy ??

Is the extra $$$ worth it to go for Series 6 ??

I do not really need 3D but if the picture quality is much better, then it could be justified..

Thanks

Is a general Samsung offer.

http://www.samsung.com/my/smartview/?pid=m...rtview_20111019

Shops will be able to provide at cheaper price.

Anyway 1 of the shop sales say that LG is better than Samsung and asking me to get LG.

Not too sure if that's true.

Hi all Samsung TV gurus here,
I am planning to get myself a Samsung UA32D4000N 32"
or UA32D5000PR LED Tv.
so which one is a better deal? what's the prices for both of them??
Is the display clear enough to play dvd,bd?
and how about playing normal tv programmes like 8TV?
I will be using it to watch dvd and hd movies plus ps3 gaming..
Thanks

Thanks For the links, I tot Galaxy IIs Phone.. Haha

The Series 6 is out of my 5k budget n I already hv my HTPC hook up to my plasma, so the 3D n Smart TV multimedia features is redundant for me...

My opinion on picture quality, if u do not compare side by side , we could not tell the differences ...

Stan, I just recently upgraded my LCD as well. Here's my take:

1. Smart TV is unnecessary. Its much better to have a Bluray Player that comes with online access features. At least the player has the audio output via HDMI to enjoy the lossless sounds. LCD Tv that comes with smart or DLNA features does not so far has lossless audio output for you to play it thru the AV Amp. The TV may come with digital (s/pdif) audio output, but still it is not lossless.

2. If Smart TV is necessary, try to get those TV that comes with Audio Return Channel (ARC) enabled HDMI output. Perhaps (as I am not sure) they can allow lossless audio output redirect to the AV Amp. But your AV Amp will need to have ARC enabled HDMI output as well.

3. I compared side by side Samsung 5 series with Toshiba XL700 in the shop. With Samsung being a few hundred ringgit more at that time. I ended up chose the 46' Toshiba Regza XL700 2D TV. You may want to have a look at Toshiba model. They produce their own LCD panel in Japan and comes with 1 year insurance too. Toshiba newest model is WL series I think, which comes with 3D.

This is much better compare to All Share which is very basic. If you have a huge movies collection Plex is better. Did you try the Ent. Bay in Smart Hub? a lot of Live Concert video streaming.

This is much better compare to All Share which is very basic. If you have a huge movies collection Plex is better. Did you try the Ent. Bay in Smart Hub? a lot of Live Concert video streaming.
*
No not tried that yet, I always download big bang theory, two and a half men etc so I was looking for a way to stream it using an app instead, I have been trying all week to change my region on the tv to usa so I could use netflix but haven't been successful there either. Thats why I quite like the idea of what you are showing in your pictures.

Thanks
*

Hi guys,

I am using 46D5000 and facing some media playback issue last nite. I found my TV cannot detect the blueray ISO files.

Can anyone help to resolve it? Is it due to the >20GB file size issue? Or I have to un-ISO them into native files before my TV can read them?

It is kind of sad as the media compability is really high on this TV... until I face this ISO file issue... cry.gif

Can I know why buy the V10 since you already has such a good TV with good media compatibility? Hope you can give me some reasons... As I need them to justify those dedicated players...

So it mean basically convert them into lossless MKV and it will play the file, right? Can message me the software you use? Can it take BD ISO file and convert into MKV?

Hi guys...been shopping for a TV lately, and came across Samsung D6600 at Sen Heng....400Hz, and rilli can see the difference in fluidity of motion when Avatar was playing on screen....salesman claim this D6600 is EXCLUSIVE to Sen Heng and SenQ only...which seems to be true, as so far i've not seen this model in other stores (HN, ESH, Legend, etc.)....i've made a search online and it's more expensive and higher range than D6400....

So far, the prices i see in HN is around RM4499 for D6400....but at Sen Heng and Senq, the D6600 model's RRP is RM4999, but Sen Heng / SenQ is giving a whopping RM1.5K discount for the D6600....they dun seem to sell D6400, since the D6600 is supposedly higher range and cheaper than D6400...both have free 2 glasses, and Smart TV included....furthermore, D6600 has built in Wifi, no need for dongle...

now, the magic question is, is the deal too good to be true? seems legit, but just puzzled why would anyone go for D6400, if they know about the availability of D6600??

just sharing my thoughts....and btw, i got myself a SHARP 40LE830M yesterday....haha!! PQ is superb...dun need Smart TV function, so save up a bit, didn't go for D6600....cheers!

No warranty on backlight bleeding or hotspots, by commercial standard they are considered "normal". Its quality control issues, not all TV of the same model is the same, so test your luck. Its quite common on LED backlight sets, uniformity issues.

I see..thanks for the info..guess i'll have to live with it..now just hope to calibrate my TV so that the light bleed will become less visible.

Full screen movies you can't notice but those movies with 2 black bars..u can notice it's quite disturbing..

Any guides on how to calibrate your TV? Digital Video Essentials good enough?

The "bleeding" is due differences of light intensity coming from the arrays of WLEDs. You cant expect all bulbs have the same brightness intensity, some even varies in color spectrum. White LEDs phosphor will wear and produce more violet into the color spectrum.

perhaps the WLEDs are more uniform at certain level of brightness.

-Try increase brightness and reduce contrast,
-reduce or increase backlight see which is better.
-reduce gamma level
-or probably zoom out the black bars

Thats a plus to CCFL LCD TV, with only 1 bulb tube, you get good uniform brightness and color.

over 100 Hz TV, IMO the movie played will look like 'plastic' (? too smooth playback in stead of standard movie 24 fps). hmm.gif

Frame interpolation feature can be turned off, the 24hz movie will be displayed at 4:4 pulldown at 96Hz, depends on the spec, some uses 72Hz 3:3 pulldown.

The best is 120Hz TV at 5:5 pulldown at 120Hz.

The content frame rate is maintained at 24hz but with high refresh rate.

So it depends on the media? Playing a game console and connecting a bluray player is a whole different thing right? Coz i think my 40D5500 didnt have the option to choose the 100hz thing. Or maybe ive been conned by Samsung sad.gif

Hi all Samsung sifus, need a bit of insight from you guys.

Am considering between the following models:
46D5000
46D6400
46D6600

I'll be connecting the TV to a HTPC, so i foresee i'll take minimal advantage of the Smart TV functions. My question is regarding video quality between all three of these models.

Is there any significant difference in the output when playing Bluray movies? Also, is there a vast difference between the output for 6series and 7series?

Appreciate if you can provide some insight on this as I'm looking to get one, budget slight flexible around the models I mentioned.

Thanks and cheers!

For 3D, Its wiser to go for passive ones. You don't have to worry about giddiness, the device sync problem, and cheap, much much cheaper 3D Glasses.

If you can wait longer, wait for full HD passive 3D from the LG set.

Samsung is good for 2D imagery though.

D7000 is considered mid-high end. 1 glasses cost around 400+, do the math smile.gif

But the motion processor seems not doing really good, try google users reviews. key (motion plus + ghosting)

For motion alway go for Plasma.

But I still love LCD due to their immune of image retention.

Only LED as backlight, normal one use CCFL (Cold cathode florescent lamp). The Pixel panel is the same LCD.

No. They are not available yet in malaysia, perhaps in Japan or Korea only.

True LED TV is OLED TV or AMOLED TV. Real LED pixels has much faster refresh rate around 900hz or even higher, yes higher than plasma.

WARNING!!

600Hz LCD DO NOT EXIST. Fastest LCD is only limited to 240Hz.

600Hz LED flashing is the same like flashing your LED pasar malam torch light right behind the LCD panel at 600hz.

The TV panel is made of LCD matrix and lit with LED "sugar coated" backlights.

Literally means LCD TV = LED TV.

Real LED TV only available in 20 feet size, thats the smallest full HD i guess.. no offence smile.gif

400Hz indicates the LED flashing pulse rate, yet the matrix LCD refresh rate is at 120hz.

You eyes can hardly tell anything above 100hz.

The clarity problem has nothing to do with the TV.

Viewing SD content on Full HD does not improve picture quality. The bigger the size, the worst.

Try watching the TV further away, 10-15feet.

bros, do you guys test 3d movie in comparing samsung with sharp or pana?
which one better or its really depends on the 3d movie itself?

was samsung hardware quality ok? coz 2 frens of mine, their samsung lcd tv died only after 2-3yrs. maybe new model better quality?

sony and sharp hardware quality wise no doubt. but sony really overpriced, sharp picture quality superb.

In reality average Malaysian only use up to 720p.

480p, 576p - DVD , Standard Astro

720p - PC gaming, PS3, XBOX360, BD Ripped, Astro Beyond, and etc...

1080p - True Blu-Ray, Full HD recorded contents..

For PC gaming at 1080p 60hz performance, you'll need at least a GPU with GT560 or HD5850 with DDR5 ram or higher, else might as well forget it.

HD Ready sets with 768p lines can take all 480p, 576p,720p and 1080p and up-convert/down-convert it.

At sensible viewing distant , 720p and 1080 is not noticeable to our even on Full HD 1980x1080 set.

If PRICE , PERFORMANCE and SIZE matters the most, HD-Ready plasma is the best candidate.

New models Full HD Plasma are quite expensive by comparison to LCD or LED/LCD. They also consume 25-30% more power than their HD Ready counterpart.

Hi guys, I plan to buy a Samsung LED before CNY. My budget is not more than RM2000.
Is UA40D5000PR the best choice so far in the market for the brand/budget?
I noticed most of the forummers here are buying from reputable shops such as HN, Best Denki, Sen Heng/Q, etc.
Is it trustable to get one from those shops eg. in SS2 areas which the price is much cheaper? Please advise.

WTF? my parents just purchased a new Samsung 3D LED TV UA46D6600 but the thing is, this TV can't play .rmvb video file...

my old samsung LCD TV LA40C530 can play any .rmvb video file without any problem (of course need to play some tricks - rename the file ext. from rmvb to any supported format like .mkv or .avi...)

Anyone can share any tricks to play .rmvb file at this LED TV UA46D6600?

i did and its working fine on my samsung UA46C8000 ':())'
same function like using the original remote, but on hp or tablet.

never ever believe salesman, if your receipt got indicate, then bring it and go back and make noise there.

better buy it when they have the stock in the shop, otherwise wait for delivery also don't know when and whether delivery man handle with care.

I bought Samsung LED during the launch of 1st model of the Samsung LED which the price of 40" 7 Series was at peak high at RM7990.00 with no 3D features. At same price now you can buy 46" 3D series 7 models.
But now looks like quality of the Samsung LED also degraded. Two of my friends LED 3D series LED panels were replaced as no image just after 2-3 weeks.

Play around with the cables... If possible, change cables if loosen heads...

Also can try changing ports on router.

It works flawlessly on my 46D5000 except it is only 100mbps rather than gigabit. But no complaits on video smoothness on playback at all. Surely better and reliable than WiFi.

It works flawlessly on my 46D5000 except it is only 100mbps rather than gigabit. But no complaits on video smoothness on playback at all. Surely better and reliable than WiFi.

I guess that's not cheap.
I saw lionmas selling 55D6400 at 6900with all the freebies, but if you only need the 4 glasses, it is 6400 but i guess the price can go lower.

Hi I just received my sammy d6600 40" today. I tried to check the usage hours on my tv by using the setting menu mute and power. Managed to get into the calibration menu but where to see the usage time? Is it the on boot? Because I got 67 for on boot.

I'm playing video from pendrive directly plug into the usb port. Any way I can connect the audio to my hi-fi? The only output connection that I can find is the headphone jack. Is that the only way to output audio to my hifi or there are better ways to do it? Btw, my hi-fi does not have hdmi or USD port.

Ah...you are right. There is a digital output. My mistake for not looking at it properly.
My amp is old and cheap one. I don't see any optical input. I guess I'm still stuck with 3.5mm to RCA.

Hmm...when I look at the audio optical port, there isn't any hold. I wonder how we can connect to that port.

Samsung 55C6400 what is the cheapest price can get in the market now?
Is it really 400Hz LED panel?

Or any similar spec samsung TV but without all the internet features? (Not worth spending money on these internet gimmick now)

How does the Samsung 40D5000PR compare with Philips 42PFL7406 & Philips 46PFL6605:

http://www.samsung.com/my/consumer/televis...b=specification

http://www.philips.com.my/c/televisions/70...fl7406h_12/prd/

http://www.philips.com.my/c/televisions/60...pfl6605_98/prd/

The most expensive of the lot is the PFL6605 while the Samsung is the cheapest (RM2,000). The Philips 7406 costs RM 2,850. Can someone tell me which is the best of the lot and why? Both the Philips models have contrast ratios of only 500,000:1 but the PFL7406 has a 400Hz Clear Motion Rate.

Very confused!

Hi guys new owner of Sammy UA40D6000 here.

Wife got it for me from Jusco for RM2999 + 2 glasses + wifi adapter. Fits in nicely for my small gaming room.

Also, if you have a compatible HT system with HDMI ARC, you can control both sound and TV from the TV remote, which is awesome. I'm watching Youtube in 3D now LOL
