Hi all, Have your wifes experience some blood coming out from the breast during brest pump? The milk become like pink color. We thrown that away. Read in the internet saying that damage nipple will cause this.
Is this normal?

Normally you have to discard the milk if your baby does not finish it.

But I re-use the milk if my son can't finish it. I just leave it in the room temperature and I give myself 1 hour window before i throw it away.

Okay. Thanks. smile.gif

How do mummies here thaw the frozen bm and how long do you store it in fridge after thawing?
Some say can be store for 24hours...but some say 10hours...in fridge...
I thaw it under running tap water or put the bag in a bowl of tap water...

I know once thaw must finish instead of keeping it...but sometimes it left like 1oz...I want to keep it so can add in another thaw bm for next feeding.

If the milk been warmed and never use...can I put it back to fridge??

Hi all, I need advice from all.

I gave birth last 12/12/12 when water broke, and ended up in casaerean.
It has only been 9 days and I also reached th state of producing 1L per day. Now bb is exclusively breast milk, but I'm using medela pump (pipa), because it hurts when he sucks (real bad!)

Things that I do that might had trigger the supply.
- Amway herbal tea
- Amway pill number 1
- Nona Roguy teh Herbanika
- might had accidentally drank earth mama milk tea yesterday.

Problem:
- baby suck until nipple bleed. Milk will become pink and lots of breast tissue bleed. It makes me dizzy seeing so many injured tissues:
- engogement when i miss one 2hr session. I went out for doc visit and ended up engorgement again! First time is bb doc visit. It takes 1-2 days for it to healed.

Question:
- how to make it such that i pump only 4 times a day? It's tiring to pump 2hr every day.
- how to get less engorgment? It woke me up from my sleep.
- it hurts to pump during engorgement, I've tried warm compress, massage 'C shape and 3 finger'. Anymore idea?
- I got miserable fatigue when I express milk. Why?

Thanks all sifu! Really need some support to continue. It's a rough and tough journey.

Just buy a small formula milk for standby. No need buy the big size. U may not know whether ur baby suits the FM. Then will be wasted. Pls take note FM that had opened must consumed within 1 month which stated on it.

U can always direct latch after born if ur BM allows. The FM is just for standby. Perhaps u may not know ur volume of BM. Just get ready the pump and bottle.

Chill gir...don take it so tense and juz relax...

My flow was so little and each pump onli got 2oz(both side)...

I was so tense and depress when i delivered and kept focussing on DL and pump...ended up with cracked nipples and baby was underweight for not getting enough fed... i was so frustrated why the supply so little and baby was so cranky and kept latch-on for 2-3hours...

So....from my experience...DL on demand...if baby not getting enough...uz get FM as standby and MOST important...enjoy your confinement...mine was a hell nightmares for 1 month.....

My baby is so special.. she doesn't need frequent feeding, she can sleep for 5-6 hours without crying for milk.this made us so wry ...n she only drink a little bit for each feeding...

now she still on FM cuz my milk hvnt come, but i started to notice whitish sticky liquid from my nipple although is just 1 drop. Already asked my husband to get a manual pump for me to pump out n bottle feed her cuz she very lazy on sucking... even bottle feed v need to spend almost an hour to feed her n she only takes in a bit...

its all supply and demand my dear.

this is what I would do, I normally wake my baby up in two hours time (the most) and then place him/her on my chest or by the bed, and have my nipple on his mouth. Slowly, i would massage (actually my hubby was at great assist here) so that the drop can be felt by the infant, and slowly the baby would start to suck, its natural.

As for those who are worried, no supply, be patient, as I mentioned earlier, its demand and supply, so ensure you ahve your kiddo by your side to suck it, else for some mom, its very difficult to start producing the wanted amount.

Infact, my first kid, she is ten now, didnt have any drink till the 3rd day, she was just lazy and sleepy. But my hubby insist not to give powder milk and be patient, it just worked out great and I was so worried and angry over my hubby, but end of the day, I'm happy with his decision.

I have successfully fully breastfeed my little one since day 4. Today is day 7. Thankfully my little one is good in suckling since day 1 though not much/any milk. Nurses n dr advice to top up,which is right to do, for the first few days...hopefully i can exclusively breastfeed her for 2 years...:-)
