What's worry me now is, how do I able to breastfeed my baby if I have sensitive nipple? Something like feel 'geli'.
Direct feed baby with breast milk is call latching? Sorry, really don't know the terms.

QUOTE(hellokitty82 @ Aug 9 2012, 05:48 PM) welcome to our breastfeeding group! Thanks. yes. direct feed means latching. u try to direct feed first. if really feel geli or what, then use breastpump lor. I want to know if now sensitive, will it change to not so sensitive or not sensitive? Since breast size will also keep changing now. Coz I heard my mom say direct feed is better. |

QUOTE(Syd G @ Nov 25 2012, 10:37 PM) I'm not so sure where she's coming from but it's more comfy to nurse in cold room as breastfeeding can make both mommy and baby sweat a lot. She did get fussy whenever I try to latch her on. But a while later she's fine and start sucking already. Don't know what's wrong... Newborns can be fussy for a many reasons - too hot, too old, too noisy, too quiet, too bright and the list goes on... they dont know how to handle the world so they do what they do best - cry |

Hi all, can I know if any mummy here direct feed and also do pumping during the first month?
How do you manage the direct feed and the pumping session? Coz let say you direct feed your baby at 9am, then maybe 15 or 30 mins later you pump out to empty the other breast or the one you feed her...but at the same time also worry if baby will sudden wake up from sleep and want to be nurse again...but since you already pump the milk out...not sure is there any milk left to feed the baby again.... How ler? Am I doing it right? Now what I'm doing is direct feed her during midnight since I read if nurse at midnight can increase the milk production. Then feed her breast milk in bottle at day time...is it ok? Please correct me if I'm doing wrong...coz I just read from research and without anyone teaching... QUOTE(victoria_lucas @ Dec 13 2012, 02:54 PM) Normally you have to discard the milk if your baby does not finish it. Okay. Thanks. But I re-use the milk if my son can't finish it. I just leave it in the room temperature and I give myself 1 hour window before i throw it away. How do mummies here thaw the frozen bm and how long do you store it in fridge after thawing? Some say can be store for 24hours...but some say 10hours...in fridge... I thaw it under running tap water or put the bag in a bowl of tap water... I know once thaw must finish instead of keeping it...but sometimes it left like 1oz...I want to keep it so can add in another thaw bm for next feeding. If the milk been warmed and never use...can I put it back to fridge?? This post has been edited by luvjim: Dec 19 2012, 08:50 AM |

QUOTE(KohSin @ Jan 4 2013, 11:56 AM) My baby is so special.. she doesn't need frequent feeding, she can sleep for 5-6 hours without crying for milk.this made us so wry ...n she only drink a little bit for each feeding... I also having difficulty to latch my lo during the first week...problem is my nipple damn sore and I barely can tahan the pain....I stop letting her to suck on my nipple...so no choice I feed my lo with FM on third and fourth day...but at the same time I keep pumping for the milk for one week...after that only I dare to try again to latch her on...now she still on FM cuz my milk hvnt come, but i started to notice whitish sticky liquid from my nipple although is just 1 drop. Already asked my husband to get a manual pump for me to pump out n bottle feed her cuz she very lazy on sucking... even bottle feed v need to spend almost an hour to feed her n she only takes in a bit... Don't worry on the milk...it only comes in after one week...and only the milk totally turns to white color...before this is much yellowish... If your lo have jaundice...bath with Guinness stout...of coz mix with the warm water...one big bottle can divide to 3 times..it works for me. To increase milk production..try get the fenugreek capsules from GNC. QUOTE(periwater @ Jan 5 2013, 03:50 PM) Koh Sin, Very informative. A word of caution, please make sure your LO drinks more milk, especially based on your description, she is lazy to drink milk. This laziness symptom is exactly the SAME as my LO and he is being diagnosed for jaundice. The senior nurse termed it as 'penyakit malas', malas to wake up, malas to drink milk and malas to move around. My Lo sleeps 5-6 hours without milk, when he wakes up, he drinks a bit and we thought he is being a good baby as well. If you detect the slightest tint of yellow on his face and his eyes, please consult your paed. My LO was under phototherapy for a day, and I had to wake him up every 2 hours to breastfeed him. The breastmilk will flush out the bilirubin in his body. It was a tough process, especially for first time mummy, so I hope you don't need to go through it. Good luck! |

QUOTE(leongal @ Jan 7 2013, 12:10 PM) my paed against using guinness stout to bath my baby because he says that the stout will be absorbed into baby's skin and make baby abit drunk.... Erm..mine still ok.Anyway, has been 2months exclusive breastfeed my lo. Hope I can still carry on to breastfeed her. Start working now and still need to wake up at most 2 times for midnight feeding. Any of your lo here likes to suck their thumb? Mine will start sucking when they start hungry and also when going to fall asleep. I still not dare to intro pacifier to her. |

QUOTE(Dagashi @ Mar 6 2013, 04:37 PM) At least it works for my little one. I rather try this and monitor her, than seeing her hand being poke by needle so many times. There's some content is there can reduce jaundice. No idea what it is. |

Those who are new to breastfeed, you may join The Breastfeeding Advocates Network in Facebook. More people there can share their stories or give advice.
I'm already late to know there's such group in fb last time. So just helping to let new mummy know about this. This post has been edited by luvjim: Mar 19 2013, 05:13 PM |
