My baby only 15 days, abt 2.5 oz, but now lesser 1 oz with more freequent every 1hr..my wife capable to pump 6 oz and at night sometime overflow..since then I had bought more bottle to store the excessice breast milk. It take longer time to melt if put @ freezer (2days), which I saw the bottle still got the iceberg @ centre and melt partially only. Hence, CL told me the milk is more water base. At night, we give formula for baby. Only morning give bf milk. I had bought some 9 oz bottle to cope with my wife supply. Some told me put fridge the milk can only last max 24 hour. |

Formula milk will not hungry fast and can sleep longer. Even after 6 months, BM itself is not sufficent nutrient for baby if I not mistaken and need formula milk.
Added on December 24, 2011, 2:40 pm My fridge size is only 400L...buy bigger bottle to store...I use 9 oz bottle, now still able to cope...those raw food, clean it and wrap properly with plastic bag should be alright...I replenish food every 1 week... That's why at this stage I give BM in day time, night give formula milk. To avoid constipation, I inform CL to reduce the table spoon for formula milk. Off course after 6 months cannot rely only BM and formula milk..I just want to highlight BM is good with nutrient, but certain stage it is not sufficient even at earlier months. That's why I mix with some formula milk...
Added on December 24, 2011, 4:06 pm Problem with BM, she wake up every 75min, and sometimes 1 hour...her stomach not full enough and cry cry...haiksss...but when the moment I give formula, she can sleep longer and more full...and I also observe her poo and so far still in good... I'm not sure what really contribute to my wife milk production, but she take Anmum lacta for initial 1st month. Hence, she able to produce abt 13oz at once. She normally pump abt 5times per day. The minimum I see is abt 6-7oz @ once. I had bought more than 50 bottles also not enough, now buy some storage bags too. |

Storage bag more costly, because only can use once. |

We plan to stop breastfeed @ 6 months, got any method to naturally stop it?
If my wife stop pump out for long hours, it will harden with a hard lump and clog, I heard it will be no good. Will this affect my wife in future? |

Is tiring, because she need to work also. And sometimes our daughter dont want sleep at night. But now we start to accumulate in storage bag that can cater for another 2 months after stop at 6 months. So in short our daughter still can get breast milk till 8 months. some friends recommend to take black bean fish which will reduce the milk production. If my wife reduce the pumping hours, it will clog and pain arise. The milk will harden like a lump, as i got help to press the hard lump.... |

Without pumping, u are actually sending signal to reduce milk production. |

QUOTE(Aqidah @ May 22 2012, 08:30 PM) the reduce in frequency pumping tell the mind to produce less hormone for milk production. This how my wife sister stop milk production when she went to europe, after back from europe cannot pump out any milk...Added on May 23, 2012, 10:01 am QUOTE(laughiebean @ May 22 2012, 08:57 PM) Need advice from all experienced bf moms.... Not measure how much you eat, is how nutritious your food intake. I guess this what i observed my wife milk storage in the fridge. Just try drink more water because bm require plenty of water for production. We just dont bother milky or watery, as long it is bm should be fine. When we take out from the fridge, we just shake lightly because those milky will stagnant on top normally. When my baby was newborn, I noticed that the bm I pumped out has a layer of cream or hind milk when I put it in the fridge. Now that my son is 3 months plus, the layer is thinner...like less than before. My question is, is this because I am not eating enough (though I eat a lot, like pregnant) or is the body adjusting and it's normal? If it is not normal, what am I missing? Thanks. Is very tiring job which myself also help her to pumping milk. We are on our own for taking the child beside day time with nanny. Our parents are not convenient to help us. Somemore both of us working adults and myself have another business to look after. We guess can feed till 9 months is good enough. |

Just buy a small formula milk for standby. No need buy the big size. U may not know whether ur baby suits the FM. Then will be wasted. Pls take note FM that had opened must consumed within 1 month which stated on it. U can always direct latch after born if ur BM allows. The FM is just for standby. Perhaps u may not know ur volume of BM. Just get ready the pump and bottle. |
