Not special.

Actually it's the same model like what Maxis/Digi/Celcom are doing.

Maxis plan is minimum RM30 also and you can use it for voice/sms/data as well.

http://www.maxis.com.my/personal/mobile/ra...p?iStruct=0:1:0

The only difference is the rate for voice/sms/data. YES is cheaper as compared to Maxis/Digi/Celcom.

However, I do want to point out one fine print, it mentions the voice and sms rates are 9 cents per min/sms however I believe it's only for on-net but not off-net. And note that majority mobile and fixed line numbers are OFF-NET to YES subscribers. Subject to the rate for off-net call, it's the real deal whether it's cheap or expensive for voice and sms.

For data, after all the rebates, it's quite comparable to other 3G operators.

We can split to two ranges of subscribers, Voice+Data User (like android/iPhone/BB) and Broadband Internet user

If you are a existing Maxis/Celcom/Digi Android/iPhone/BB subscribers, I don't see any advantage in subscribing to YES actually (not to mention the silly phone).

For Broadband user, the rate will be slightly cheaper as compared to Maxis/Digi/Celcom Wireless Broadband but more expensive as compared to P1.
So, you can see YES is here to challenge MAXIS/DIGI/CELCOM existing mobile voice + data operators.

We will see a red ocean war happening very soon ... hehe ...

Unless YES can come out with some phones that's not as silly as the YES BUZZ, sorry I won't consider.

ehh bro.. u are wrong.. Lowest Entry Cost Per Month. Maxis- Rm30 ( Voice). Boardband (RM 48) Internet, Rm 18(Mobile Data) so 30+48+18=96.

Well Yes are offering All in One Plan.

I do a research on them doh.gif

but i still think YES is offering to Lite User instead on HARDCORE user, unless they willing to pay more

Thanks for your clarification.

Indeed i'm a little confused because i thought it's prepaid but it seems that they can auto-debit my account now.
If what you say is right, even if I don't use their service for 2 months, they are still charging me RM60.
Then it's not prepaid. It's postpaid !!!! Similar with Maxis Plan 30,50,80,120 etc.
*
yea. they will still charge u RM60. but remember, u dun have any more credit to credit..if they really provide good service. i think u will be easily hit their min usage of Rm30

Maxis Plan Rm30 is only for Voice, not internet :/ so they are different concept.

No no no no ... I'm currently subscribing to Maxis Plan 80. But I can use Mobile Internet at Pay Per Use Basis (10kb for 10cents) without adding additional data package. The data charges for pay per use is part of my RM80 minimal commitment.

yea i know the price is expensive but what I mean it's still the same type of charging mechanism for Maxis Plan and Yes Plan only the rate is different.

It depends whether the subscribers need to combine Broadband with Mobile Internet and voice. From my point of view, I don't need all three together, so I will tend to compare the price differently.

Cause people who want to subscribe to YES Broadband will not even need the 018 voice and the phone so they will tend to compare the price based on the Mobile Broadband with YES Broadband.

So for people who want to subscribe for voice+data, they will compare differently.

To be honest, YES is good for voice+data but not for broadband judging from their charging rate that can really cut throat.

Note that Maxis 3G broadband despite after FUP, you can still use with throttled speed but YES will continue cutting your throat.

I will say it will be better than the rest.

Reason: Heavy users won't subscribe to it.

That's why I say they are using the right strategy to phase out those heavy users.

I also will not subscribe to its broadband service. Hahaha ... I need one drama per night, with that rate, I can buy original DVD from Speedy Video.

The Voice+Data maybe depends on their charging rate for OFF-NET calls and of course on their phone type.

Works like Skype? Call US line from your PC anywhere around the world, at US rate. Makes sense. Buy the account and give your children studying overseas to make VoIP calls to Malaysia line at 9sen/min rates. rclxms.gif

I checked on Wimax roaming, it seems Japan and US got roaming agreements.... if YTL can join their roaming, wow you can use your Yes account in US (Clearwire) and Japan (UQ Communications), and can theoretically call users of the two networks from Malaysia to US/Japan at 9sen/min? GG to IDD rates! rclxm9.gif

"With Yes, you pay only for what you use – just like electricity."

And I thought that means I don't need to commit to any usage amount... but seems there is a RM30 min usage commitment per month? rclxub.gif

This plan is mainly aim for those user who only use it for normal surfing portability.Of course is not suitable for us who heavy download or mass streaming video. But i would get it if they dunt have auto renew subscription every month.

No, No, and No!

I cannot believe someone here actually called this "cheaper than other ISPs". You must live in a fantasy world.

If 3Mb = RM0.09 that is terrible (Costs in excess of 7000 ringgit for 30 GB).

If 3MB = RM0.09 it is still very expensive (costs hundreds for 30GB) even for 6GB.

And don't bother saying Maxis etc can still be used at throttled speed without extra charges. Throttled speed is ~2kBps (bandwidth ~16kBps) so it is virtually zero and inaccessible.

This country's internet services for public consumers sucks, period.
