Talking from experiences, it's best you get G2 or DHD. flex.gif

Thinking of getting the Galaxy S from Maxis but am concerned about the lag issue. Is it crippling? Also, does Android in Malaysia still require Market Enabler to make paid app purchases?

EDIT: Am trying to decide between this and Desire.

I study EE engineering for degree. Moreover my good friend's final year project is to monitor Li-on hence I've read up on its voltage and current properties including n-curve yada yada...
I don't feel that it hogs because I close the app after I finish chatting. Only whatsapp is for 24/7 messaging. biggrin.gif

In laymen term, does that mean our battery's usable voltage range is from 3.7v to 4.2v?

The Push email service in Samsung's Social Hub is actually a rebrand of Seven's service. You should be able to download the apk for Froyo from Seven's website iianm. I don't quite like the idea of a separate email app just for Seven's push email though -  it was much better on WinMobile where the inbox was integrated directly into Pocket Outlook.
*
Hi, this Seven's service you mentioned, can we find that in the Market?

Nope you gotta download the apk off their website. Although when you first register.. it will send an SMS to some foreign number. It does this only once from my experience. I've used Seven's push email services on my Palm centro, Windows Mobile and SGS - so it's not a new fly by night kind of service. It's been around a few years. Worked great on WinMob, used it for about a year. Only reason am not using it now on SGS is because I think it's a bit of a battery drain plus I don't like the email client it comes with. Just my personal preference.

Yes, like all other Android device you still need Market Enabler or Market Access for Malaysia SIM cards.

The lag is there but does not cripple the phone into junk.

Theoratically should be in that range. Under load, the battery may intermittently measure less. Then once the battery is not loaded, the voltage recovers to near 3.7V.

Voodoo JM9 experience: The phone does go into sleep but no matter what, Voodoo drains more power than OCLF or original kernel. I am left with only 60% power by now. Usually I have 80% with casual use.

Thanks for the info. Somehow, I find the Samsung's push email much better on battery conservations, compared to having polling emails. smile.gif

It was an obvious improvement.

I've been there, compared Desire and SGS before I bought SGS. I am not a fanboy but really, all phones have ups and downs. IMO, you would be happier, in the long run, having the SGS rather than Desire. Desire is not without lag too. It lags under with heavy graphics use, like in video playback, in games etc. SGS has more potential but unutilised so far. That's where independent developers come in. With the new universal lagfix, my SGS is really really smooth even as smooth as iPhone 4.

No comment about getting it from Maxis but Maxis is really !#$%^&*(!*#!! tongue.gif

The Samsung Email app was absolute crap for me. It had some cool features like flexible control of mailbox polling time (don't check for new email between 10pm and 8am, for example) but it was pretty bad at email with rich/formatted content, in my experience.

K-9 Mail client has been the best so far for me, it works with my company email account (i.e. hosted email service) even with mailbox polling totally disabled because it supports IMAP IDLE protocol. Notification is almost like on my BB last time..

GPS problem is outstanding.

Difference with Wildfire? Man.. quite a bit. The price point should already tell you that both devices belong in different classes.

Froyo? Yes. But not all regions.

Do some research, you can easily find your answers on Google.

so no fix yet?

Now that you mentioned it. lol.

Fortunately, most of my rich content emails were subscriptions, which don't requires my immediate attentions/replies.
