thats why better get custom routers and setup..

Or if you dont want IPTV just change DIR-615 firmware to DD-WRT..it should work flawlessly  thumbup.gif

I don't care too much about the IPTV. To be honest, only thing I liked about it is the all night long catwalk in HD but other than that
it's really just crappy shows.

I'm looking at the DD-WRT guide for DIR-615 at the moment and am considering of doing it, but a few questions
if you guys don't mind answering;

1. Should anything happen, is there any way I can restore the original firmware (I noticed that the guide also includes download link for it)?
2. Will this seriously help with the router's life span? I was under the assumption that its the hardware (the router device) itself that is not stable, I didn't know that it was just the firmware.
3. Just how many of you guys did it?

Thanks in advance

As far as I can tell, it is the current customized firmware for TM made the hardware unstable.

I would consider flashing it to DD-WRT but because I am still working on solving the issue on audio problem I have with my TV Tuner, I won't be doing it for the moment.

I don't have any issues with the stock firmware but I'm did it since I don't have a tv for iptv usage. There is a more recent version of the firmware and you can go back the same way. Always save settings file so that you can revert without needed to reconfig all settings. No need to change cable from lan to wan port either (as per the guide). Play around with the settings and learn a bit more about networking in the process. Fun! rclxms.gif

Is the IPTV STB user specific or generic? If it is generic, any members who doesn't care about IPTV I wouldn't mind to buy 1 extra from you. I would like to place one downstairs for my parents to watch.

A bit of both.. they utilize the MAC address of the unit for some security features and I remember it used to cause a lot of problems back in early April during my install.

So, does it mean that i can't just buy 1 from friend and run both under 1 account? I am serious to get a 2nd unit but TM is not selling it even if I am willing to buy.
