Dont forget by March 2012 Intel will release Ivy Bridge which is claimed to be 20% faster than Sandy.

The performance gap between these two will be widen by far margin, again.

pfft.. u mean just 10% improvement on performance next year? while SB is already 40% more efficient and powerful clock for clock compared to current BD? how many years does it take amd to have a comparable cpu compared to current SB?

I dont know bro does it look like Im working with AMD?

I was just answering to the guy he already bought a AM3+ board and was asking what he should do..

Do you know what AMD did around the year 2003? thats when it revealed a CPU faster than the fastest intel.. it wasn't expected but they did pull it off and went way ahead of intel... it was called the FX series

intel has vast resources, amd has been losing money for a long time now. and the global foundaries mess up really hit them bad.. they are probably the cause of all the delays..

just look at BD 8120 and 8150.. the speed difference between the two chips is vast, do you know what this indicates? this tells the yeild on the 8120 units was bad, so had to be underclocked.. clearly an indication of a really messed up fabrication proccess (GLOBAL FOUNDARIES again)

from an engineering point of view, bulldozer is completely new and "IN THEORY" should have been great. but in pracise, amd has to rely on other companies to pull it together, and this case unfortunately some of its partners messed up and now everyone is shouting at amd.

and WHY OH WHY are you whining and complaining about per clock and all that? this is a stuggling company and I read what some of its people wrote.. I really hope they pull it together again, its good for everyone to have a good thriving AMD

AMD will have no choice but to slash the price of their current BD
What worries me is the amount of power consumed when stress at OC levels, it is astonishing high doh.gif

Thanks to its 2 B transistors

i'll leave this here.
this is seriously how i feel about AMD now.....

well, @ least the part about "bulldozer + fermi = electric bill would kill me" made my day....

re quoting, what had people that bought the AM3+ Motherboards earlier, guess keeping the 955BE for now, HOPE that AMD's not changing sockets for the BD-so-called-enchanced by then. doh.gif

the smarter choice cpu dont sucks twice the amount of power the competitor's cpu consume while giving a lower performance at that..
no to mention having twice the number of transistors compared to the faster and more efficient cpu..
i was hoping also that BD might give us a suprise, but now that it is not, i am now regret my decision to wait for BD before upgrading my old and trusty 3.5 years old q6600 doh.gif

calm down bro.. I was just saying this speaking from a general perspective

i was so excited about bulldozer also.. but its finally out and this is all they could do..

no one ever speaks about global foundaries when the blame should at least 50% on them. They are the ones who fabricate the cpus.. amd is an engineering company it can't build the whole thing it self..

you look at things from the end user perspective, "show me the product or get out"... just listen to the story, try to know WHY THEY FAILED.. the bulldozer u see today was not AMD original plan

yes, FX was only used to smash intel with "fastest available" cpu.. using the branding with the current bulldozer is unwise.. but i guess they need a selling point.. only the name left? tongue.gif

If you were using Q6600, why not the i5-750 or i7-920 a year+ ago? That would have been sweet spot upgrade points. Both CPUs, OC or not, are still kicking butts and taking names today.

They(AMD) never even look into software developers side of story, no many of them(Software devs) will actually bothered scratch their head to rewrite the softwares to from few thread (1-4) to many threads lolz, same goes to their graphic department doh.gif

the AMD itself should build the load-balancing mechanism in their chip

fully utilize the capability and available of the cpu power

they should have placed a smaller l3 cache and added two more agu + alu to each of their cores..

By reading the reviews online,
that reminds me what happened to ATI few years ago, when HD2000 <-> HD3000 era.

The technology used at HD3000 is totally different compare to HD2000, but the performance was poor compare to it's competitor. But after sometime, with the release of HD4000, the whole story start to change in VGA card market.

I start to think AMD uses the same tactic for it's processor now

The thing here is, it's not a blame game. It doesn't matter who to blame.

What matters is that the AMD processors that customers were waiting for for so long, initially people believed it will be better than Intel, then as good as Intel, then close to Intel, and when it finally came out, it's even struggling to beat the previous architecture.

Point is, customers are disappointed at the processors. It doesn't matter who fak up, customers are disappointed at the product itself.

And this goes both ways. AMD customers are disappointed because they can't get a good processor from AMD after such a long and tiring wait, and ALL computer customers will feel the impact from the lack of a strong AMD as an Intel competitor. Computer prices will be through the roof, customers will get less freedom and choice in buying processors, and Intel will be more arrogant.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter who fak up what. Unless you're the company CEO and you will have to worry about that. As customers, all we can say is that we are disappointed at the product that has been just released.

CPU ain't equal to GPU, CPU need to perform complex stuffs like simulation, emulation and Artificial Intelligence, GPUs just can't do that cuz they may be fast but they're stupid due to their lack of functions(opcodes in tech terms), dumb AMD tongue.gif
