The Latest Waja, The Waja CPS
user posted image

The long-awaited Proton Campro CPS engine is now available in Malaysia (it was first introduced in Bangkok last year) with the Waja 1.6 Premium being the first model to have it. For those who are not familiar with this engine, it incorporates Cam Profile Switching (which is where the ‘CPS’ comes from), a mechanism which varies intake valve timing to enhance performance throughout the rpm range. The mechanism was developed by Lotus Engineering, a subsidiary of Proton.

Additionally, the Campro CPS engine also has a Variable Intake Manifold (VIM) which optimises the intake airflow volume according to driving conditions and is especially helpful in boosting torque at the low end. The VIM is a more sophisticated version of the Intake Air-fuel Module (IAFM) used in the Campro 1.3-litre engine of the new Saga.

user posted image
The maximum power output of the new Campro 1.6 CPS engine is 125 bhp (about 92 kW), 13% more than the 110 bhp on the non-CPS/VIM Campro engine. The new engine, in addition to providing smooth and responsive drivability, is said to be environment-friendly and complies with the latest European emission regulations.

With the CPS mechanism, Proton claims that the new Waja offers significant improvement in terms of drivability with maximum torque now increased to 150Nm. More importantly, the criticism of non-CPS engine that was first launched with the Gen2 – poor low-end torque – is now claimed to be addressed and Proton states that there is ‘better response and torque launch at low engine speeds of between 2000 - 2500 rpm when driving in the city’. During highway driving, it is also claimed that there will be better overtaking performance in the third, fourth and fifth gears within the 2,500 - 4,500 rpm engine speed range. The new Waja is available with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission.

There are also changes to the interior design of the model to add further value to customers. The model now comes with electric remote door mirror with electric folding housing, front seat with 3-way adjustable head rest (up, down and tilt), gated auto gear shifter (for automatic transmission), new centre panel switches and finishing, as well as a keyless trunk remote system, ABS, fog lamps, alloy rims and leather upholstery as standard.

Other additional features include xenon headlamps auto-levelling (so that other motorists are not dazzled), dual tailpipes, UV-cut windscreen glass and a ‘Euro-compliant body structure’.

"Proton is striving to improve ourselves in every aspect, particularly in terms of product offerings. With that in mind, we felt it was time the Waja evolved as well. The time is right for this change and I'm optimistic the market will receive this new model in a positive manner," said Proton MD, Dato' Haji Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir.

POISON (Please delete this post if rules are broken huhu)

ECU Reflashing is now possible for Proton Waja with 4g18p engines.

Hhmm...

Reflashing -
A completely different ROM will be flashed into the ecu. Depending if you have a 12-pin socket or not... this have to find. Also will have to check ROM compatibility.

user posted image

For reflashing, speed cut can also be removed. If im not mistaken ur cars all cut off at 194km/h(read on gps, meter cluster reading are not accurate).

Ok here is the details as described below!

Reflash comes with Stage 1 rom which is KilleRom Street + Sensor calibration and resetting stepper motor for better sensor and ecu communication/efficiency purposes.

Stage 2 KilleRom Ultimate is an OPTIONAL rom.

_______________________________________________________

KilleRom Street aKa StreetRom (Stage 1)
- Power enhance above 3k RPM (ignition timing and AFR)
-Removed Speed Limit (default is 184km/h +/- 10% + 10km/h tolerance on the speedometer)
-Higher REV limit 7500 Rpm (does not mean you need to rev all the way)

KilleRom Ultimate (Patch) Stage 2
- Power Enhance from low range, more linear power till 7500 RPM
- Enhanced Ignition Timing and AFR MAP
- Open Loop mode on demand (TPS controlled instead of load)
- Removed Speed Limit (default is 184km/h +/- 10% + 10km/h tolerance on the speedometer)
- Higher REV limit 7500 Rpm (does not mean you need to rev all the way)
- Improved fuel consumption (depend on how you compensate your drive)

Pricing:
1st Stage Reflash comes with Stage 1 rom which is KilleRom Street + Sensor calibration and reseting stepper motor.
RM750.00

2nd Stage Upgrade to KilleRom Ultimate
RM150.00

Bulk reflashing sessions available as well.

exactly dude...that's not the worst part..
they don't wanna take responsibility for that....
when driving, the exhaust hook hit the bar and make some loud annoying sound..
cannot tahan already...go to exhaust shop..cut that part n twist the hook upside...
problem solved but forked out extra RM40 where it shouldn't happen in the first place sweat.gif sweat.gif

should be both coz' lower arm was directly hooked up to the frame and there is this thing call ball joint or something.
on straight road, both works together. during cornering, one will soak up the pressure along with absorber and tires, while the other side loosened up.

on straight line, both works together. but when one side went over bump or potholes, it will absorb the pressure while the other side stay neutral.

here is a foreman tips ; try to press the car's top on all 4 side of where the absorber located at.
press once and observe. a good working absorber should only bounce once too.
if it keep bouncing, that's mean the abs is gone and thus caused the car to bounce repeatedly( due to spring action).

Hey guys, just want to check with you if this is normal. It's already been 1 month since I serviced my car and the engine oil is already a quarter gone from the max level. Is this normal? At this rate, I guess I'd have to top-up the engine oil myself a few times before the next service.

If there's white exhaust smoke, what does that mean? I've started my engine and I don't see any white smoke coming out from the exhaust, so I guess it's most probably leaking somewhere.

It could be valve seal(gasket) or the spark plug seal , change both of them less than 250. If you dont mind spending so much , downgrade your engine oil to Mineral oil.

that's very cheap Andy. I guess this method is used by mechanics who don't replace your head gasket smile.gif.

for a slightly spirited driving, the local one is good enough. 2 pcs of local abs mounting = 1 pc of ori abs mounting tongue.gif

white smoke means your head gasket is gone, thus allow the water to enter the cylinder area.
10k mileage seems okay. need to replace the head gasket and check for possible leak somewhere.

Hey guys, just wondering shall we include spare parts reference price list on the front page? Just incase someone need to cross check the parts, just to avoid being cheated or paying overpriced parts.

can anyone highlight me what is the diff in terms of fc, maintenance, sparepart etc.

because i know you can accept 2nd hand cars, thats why I suggested civic, a 06' civic would cost below 90k?
anyhow, from waja to the previous gen of city isn't a big upgrade, perhaps towards the new city is.

best change at 80k, you wouldn't want your timing belt to snap while the car is operating

Hi waja owners, I'm driving 2002 4g18 waja.
I wonder why the engine will have rattling noise when the rpm is around 2200 and the noise stops when the rpm reached 3000?
Is it the noise comes from the exhaust? Any solution for this?

yeah you can, provided you find the same kind of LED that you can twist and lock it in. Try taking off your meter panel and see what the bulb looks like first.

both engine have their own characteristic.. mitsu engine is single cam while campro is double cam.. for buy a used car u need to check it carefully and a bit lucky also if u still can get the car in good condition.. for mitsu engine the last product is 2005 or early 2006 mybe, so it has been 5 years old car..

my car is campro year 2006 auto, fc average is 10 ~ 11km / 1 liter (depends on ur foot ), .. so far engine dont have problem.. maintenance and spare part easy can get also..

for better pick up i think its mitsu engine.. try test drive both car and u will feel the diffrent then u can make ur own choice.. biggrin.gif

really appriciate ur info...i dont wanna take auto specially for campro engine as i used to have gen2 before...so sluggish...i can call it "lembab"....need to press hard....so now looking for manual only....
so how bout your campro?is it a lack of pickup entering roundabout and junction?that what i used to get b4 with gen2.
i also heard that mitsu engine have more pickup than campro engine...as for the used car condition, i dont really mind the small problem.i do really care that the engine still good.never gimme problem....

for the time being, we do have the specialty to unleash all power from your Mitsu ECU that compliments the robust mechanical system in the mitsu engine. As for campro, there's nothing much we can do mate.

Suggest you get the Mitsu one as we here can support you in troubleshooting and not to mention, modding, aka ECU reflash.

you should be able to differentiate between tires, wind noise and engine sound.
if it was more like a humming sound at higher speed, definitely not the gearbox. tires with worn out tread tend to produce those sound as well.
or in some case, could be the engine mounting. if there is no slight vibration on dashboard when the engine idle,
problem down to wheel bearing.

for the time being, we do have the specialty to unleash all power from your Mitsu ECU that compliments the robust mechanical system in the mitsu engine. As for campro, there's nothing much we can do mate.

Suggest you get the Mitsu one as we here can support you in troubleshooting and not to mention, modding, aka ECU reflash.

thats 1 attraction to the mitsu engine more..hehe...thanks for the feedback bro.....flash ecu.... hmm.gif tempting.....

what is your mileage? waja 4g18p or campro?
for waja 4g18p, you could use mineral, semi synth or fully synth(depending on mileage) of 10w-40.
semi or full synth of same visc 10w-40 is okay for campro.

very rare. i came across one before. semi-adjustable with only soft/hard option. can't recall the brand. the absorber system is already tuned for lower height and stiffer spring (can be customize but still stiff than those of oem). all you have to do is turning the valve on the abs to adjust the gas pressure brows.gif

will buy for u once im free...

Today what i did is

I redo my LCD panel coz the last one had too many gaps.
So here is my cheapsket DIY method.

user posted image

So i remove the old panel.
user posted image

user posted image

Then i cut the new frame using plastic folder which is hard and thickness just the correct size for my project. Transparent plastic for this DIY project is important because you can measure the LCD viewable area through the plastic and draw the lines to cut later.

user posted image

Measure and test the fittings.

user posted image

Prepare to stick the sticker and mount the LCD in place with 3m acrylic double tape.

user posted image

Finally the work is done.... Simple!

user posted image

Fitted in my car and no gaps at all! everything just nice.

it's the whole engine itself that you need to worry. auto gearbox is cheap tongue.gif
without proper job done; port and polish, forged piston, cam job, better quality gasket and so on, the engine part might give up before the auto gear box(with atf cooler) tongue.gif
i've had checked with speedworks last time, stage 1 bot on 4g18 already cost around 7k complete with intake manifold, intercooler and turbine but no port and polish job. gain additional 45% - 55% of power but boost only at 0.6 max.
finally decided to go for mix and match setup at slightly higher cost, with invecs-II gear box for town ride and there is no turning back.
100% power gain too brows.gif
well, unless yo want to keep the current engine, bot is the best way to gain more hp but it will be an almost a never ending job.

So far my car i boost at 0.688888888 Bar without any problem... If you are looking for pleasure for driving, BOT will make your day. If you are a Power Hunger, BOT will bring you to hell. yup taking care of the engine is the main thing to take note when doing BOT.. its just that my worries come to the GB since it is not built for BOT purpose and yes it wasn't even built for performance purpose.. ahahaha.. i'm the one that looks for pleasure driving and easiest option is BOT.. but also reminds me of 7k in which also would be good to go for transplant.. in which a GSR is within 8-9k.. hmm.gif hmm.gif

yup taking care of the engine is the main thing to take note when doing BOT.. its just that my worries come to the GB since it is not built for BOT purpose and yes it wasn't even built for performance purpose.. ahahaha.. i'm the one that looks for pleasure driving and easiest option is BOT.. but also reminds me of 7k in which also would be good to go for transplant.. in which a GSR is within 8-9k..  hmm.gif  hmm.gif
*
even though 4g18p is robust and reliable, it doesn't really mean for bot purpose. unless done with lots of forge thing. which will shoot up to cost to
more than 10k! since there is no replacement for displacement, going for gsrt with invecs-II gearbox for town ride is still the better option.

hmmm.. yup.. gsrt is what goes at the end as it serve the power plus its a built turbo engine.. huhu.. thx it does clear things up for me.. but does invecs-II share the same kind of wiring or does it need any mods to suit? but nevertheless its still a plan in which i'll make do in 2 years time.. which concern me if the engine price will shoot up or goes down blink.gif blink.gif

plug and play. in fact, most of the gsrt halfcut in the market comes with tiptronic gearbox. else, just adopt one from airtrek. advantage of tiptronic geabox; comfortable for town drive while being powerful enough during
overtaking brows.gif
i doubt you still could do it in 2 years time. news had it that government is going to ban the import of halfcut stuff from japan soon. so, it's either done sooner or never.

i have a problem..and i need some advices on it..

kraaakkk sound when quick shift to 3rd gear in high rpm - this only happens with NORMAL CLUTCH..it happens when i quick shift to 3rd gear..sounded like i didnt press the clutch, but i did..but the gear still engage...

but when i was using semi racing clutch, there was no problem with quick shifting to 3rd gear..its all smooth even on high RPM..but when my semi racing clutch is broken, i changed to a normal clutch..and that's when the problem arises..

could it be due to the synchro problem?or misalignment during the clutch installation?

Guys,

i just found out that my meter reading is not tally with gps reading...
due to sportrim n tyre change.

if meter shows 60km/j gps 65km/j
if meter shows 80km/j gps 75km/j
n so on... i have to add 5km/j to the meter reading...

so now the question is, if my mileage/kmage showing 400km, whats the real reading?

it will be different if u compare gps reading n meter reading.. meter reading calculate by final gear ratio but gps reading by satelit.. it may different reading which tyres saiz u used but the meter reading will always same reading what ever tyre u used except u change ur final gearbox ratio..

for ur mileage meter.. nothing wrong there.. its still 400km u have gone so far.

i have a problem..and i need some advices on it..

kraaakkk sound when quick shift to 3rd gear in high rpm - this only happens with NORMAL CLUTCH..it happens when i quick shift to 3rd gear..sounded like i didnt press the clutch, but i did..but the gear still engage...

but when i was using semi racing clutch, there was no problem with quick shifting to 3rd gear..its all smooth even on high RPM..but when my semi racing clutch is broken, i changed to a normal clutch..and that's when the problem arises..

could it be due to the synchro problem?or misalignment during the clutch installation?
*
This is weird. It happens only when u quick shift eh? The clutch should not be fully disengaged when you pressed the pedal.
It's probably the synchro smile.gif

it will be different if u compare gps reading n meter reading.. meter reading calculate by final gear ratio but gps reading by satelit.. it may different reading which tyres saiz u used but the meter reading will always same reading what ever tyre u used except u change ur final gearbox ratio..

for ur mileage meter.. nothing wrong there.. its still 400km u have gone so far.
*
i still trust gps... so if the meter reading is taken from gearbox ratio... when we change the tyre, for sure the reading will change...
for example for r15 the circumference is 1 meter... but when ive change to r16... maybe the circumference will be 1.5meter...
so, if the meter only read gearbox ratio, that is number of rotation of the tyre...if r15 one wheel rotation the distance will be 1meter...if change to r16, distance will be 1.5m.
for sure the reading will change... when the km/j meter "lari"...
for sure mileage pun lari.... let say im running at 60km/j meter reading... after 1 hour, the distance ive gone is 60km at mileage.
yet, the real thing is, gps reading showing 65km/j, n the distance ive cover is 65km...

so, thats why im asking... smile.gif

yup.. but for ur info.. mileage reading is just for our info how long have we running our car due to maintenance reminder or for us to know how long our journey have gone.. of corse its have +/- for each car mileage reading.. if u want a perfect distance.. just try change ur tyre size, then see the km/j reading.. the right set up tyre size will be the same speed as gps but u need to try many size of tyres.. when u get the same speed with ur gps that is the best result.. so u can keep the size of tyre.. smile.gif

what i do is i take wire then tie to the mudflap and pull towards the inside of the fender.. then it'll be far abit from the tyre.. then it won't hit or 'gesel' creating any lobang or 'gigit'.. hahaha

i went to 'upgrade' my absorbers at Rosli Smart Suspension, Senawang.

They reuse the old gas-filled shocks and put in their oil mixture for RM220, 1 year warranty.

confortable and harder upgrade I must say and well worth the money.

No mate, the front have this. You should only have absorber mounts, anti roll bar bush, anti roll bar links, and two bushes on each side of the front lower arm, along with a ball joint at the lower arm.

Confirmed with Kent Goh it has short and long Lower arm link, i changed the short one both sides..
still got a bit sound and suspect is the long one causing, especially from the rear left..
Will check it 2mw and change power steering fluid together.

Approximately how much replacement key for Waja - with immobilizer, lost the little transponder thingy inside. Have a spare key now bt want to have a new spare now. Can do at key maker or only at Proton? Thank u.
*

used this key from lelong, works like a charm and higher power compare to the stock remote. turns it uses 12v compare to 3v of the ori remote.

ns60 should be less than 200 bucks while the maintenance free ones cost less than 250 bucks.

Went i open the bonnet, there is two fan there... the right fan and the left fan.
The right fan is turning but the left one is not. Is it both need to turn or is it memang suppose to be like tht?

as long as you did not change the whole car's exterior which is side, front and rear bonnet, it should be okay.
the front modification on the sample picture is legal.
but some jpj which is on 'cari makan' mission might make a fuss out of it for kopi-0 purpose.

agree with steven. team imperials mod their car to the max. a few even had this coca-cola can mounted to the wiper motor to make the
engine bay looks cool tongue.gif
btw, modding the front bonnet alone is well within jpj rule. it doesn't change the fact that the car is still a waja. neither does it had those excessive % of illegal body kit.
police or jpj block might stop you, but as long as there is no loud exhaust or engine modification, they will only do a simple check and let you go. unless they're in cari makan mood laugh.gif

removing / replacing the logo with another manufacturer is illegal but acceptable.
you could tell them, you accidently bumped into a tree and since no stock bonnet available and urgently need to use the car, you opted for the current bonnet instead.

all sifu , taikor , abang , adik , my idling seems to be a little jerky at times. When aircon is off , idling at around 800-900 range which is okay but when the compressor kicks in , it suddenly drops to the range of 500++ then slowly climb back to 650 to 700 range.

also , when I engage to D , it drops to the range of 500+ aswell.

Any idea what causes it to be like this ? Sensor , battery , fuel pump or timing sensor/pulse sensor ?

Need to recalibrate sensor! seems like someone had mess or touch your Idling Screw setting during normal mode not SAS mode so now your stepper motor not in the accurate position. Need to reset and park back the sensor. My tools with Elton... ask Elton to help ya.

guys my car has a hissing sound after i shut off the engine. i checked around it was coming from around the radiator cap area. could it be one of the hose pecah? quite worried to drive my car around now sad.gif

edit: no signs of overheating or engine temp increasing though. i was driving along LDP only around 80-90kmh
*
shouldnt cause any problems yet. You can hear it from inside the car?

My brake started to squeal and it's very annoying. i have change the rotor both front to new and skimmed disc at rear. all pads already change to ceramic pad and it works very well for the past month.

I look into my driver side rotor and saw that there's a orange color lining on the rotor which indicates , either it makan more on that orange line or the outer side. *orange line i mentioning is flat at the rotor(no gelombang- yet)

Squeal only happens when it's at cold , when it reach optimum/hot temperature , the squeal seems to go away.

any idea what causes it to squeal and uneven wear on the rotor? caliper jam ?
also , where can we buy the brake shims for the rear yea ?

That's too costly for me to do. sweat.gif I'll change to pro-rs brake hose and see how the spongy feel goes.

Anyone interested with the Pro-RS brake hose ? Bulk purchase should be less than 225.

By right the fan SHOULD NOT spin when we turn on ignition key, it should turn on when thermostat trigger. Your scenario tells me that your radiator is clogged! If you looking for one pls let me know coz im replacing to Aluminium radiator soon.
