Best way to enjoy fully the 3%+5% rebate is by paying RM2000 per month in utilities, if you are cash rich ;-)

For Oct, Nov Dec 2010
5% of RM2000 x 3 months = RM300 (rebate cap until end of 2010)
3% of RM2000 x 3 months = RM180

Thus, you pay RM6000 and get back RM480 of free utilities ;-)
*
Are you sure you will get RM480 for 3 months?
From what I know, maximum cap per month is still RM100, which will be RM300 for 3 months.
Assuming you use it for utility bill payment, you will only need to spend RM1250 instead of RM2000 to get RM100 rebate.

RM1250 x 8% = RM100.

That means you pay RM3750 instead of RM6000 to get RM300 rebate.

This is indeed a very good promotion and  thumbup.gif  for OCBC to enable bill payment using credit card rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif
But too bad for those registered auto-billing.
*
If your TM bill is RM100, by auto-billing you get RM2+5% (RM7) or RM4+5% (RM9). Pay via OCBC will give you 8% which is RM8 rebate. In my case, my bill has to be RM133 in order to get extra benefits.
For TNB, I think there is no discount for auto-billing. So, online payment is a good choice.
For Postpaid like Digi (I take iP4 package for example), auto-billing will give you RM5 discount which is RM58x5% (RM2.9), total RM7.9 rebate. If you pay via OCBC, you will get only RM63x8% (RM5.04). Not worth it.

Only if you take the 3rd package (iDigi238), you will benefit RM13.04 for online payment and RM12.9 for auto billing.

My conclusion is
- For TM, online payment only if your bill exceeds RM67 or RM133 respectively.
- For TNB, online payment.
- For Postpaid, auto billing.
- For those majlis perbandaran bill (assessment), online payment.

The 8% rebate for online bill payment is consist of OCBC Titanium credit card 5% rebate + 3% rebate for online bill payment promotion.
5% rebate max limit - RM100 per month until year end
3% rebate max limit - RM200 for whole campaign

So you need RM2000 bill payment to max out 5% limit.

FYI, online bill payment using saving/current account gets only 3% rebate (not 8% rebate).

Do read the T&C here.
Only online bill payment get extra 3% rebate but you can do what was suggested here by doing advance payment in e-banking.

Your calculation is wrong... you need to calculate separately for 3% and 5% rebates...
3% rebate has a capping of RM200 for the whole promotion period (29 Sep 2010 to 31 Dec 2010)
5% rebate has a capping of RM100 each month until 31 Dec 2010

Ok, i didn't read the T&C. Thought every campaign is the same. Looks like OCBC is very generous compare to other bank this time.
Assuming I spent RM100 for TM, 3 months will be RM300.
Since 5% is the same, 3 months I get additional RM12 rebate for auto-billing. If I use online payment, I get only RM9. Auto-billing is still ok for me. But for those getting RM2 rebate for auto-billing, better do online payment if it exceeds RM67.

For postpaid, assuming the same case, I get RM23.7 (RM5x3+RM58x3x5%) rebate for iDigi 88 plan. If I use online payment, I get RM63x3x5% + RM63x3x3% = RM15.12. Looks like for normal user, auto billing is still better. Not sure maxis and celcom got any rebate for auto-billing or not.

I think Astro is not under the list, maybe I miss out?
In order to get the full RM200 (3%) rebate, you may need to pay bill of a total of RM6666.67. Normal people will not reach that far. That is more than 2k bill per month!
Unless you pay advance for majlis perbandaran bills, or maybe pay bill for others.

Maxis & Astro is not part of the OCBC Payee listing at the moment.

To maximise the 3% + 5%, you need to spend RM2000 a month for Utility bills via Online. If you go above the RM2k threshold, you won;t get full 8% but only 3%, as the 5% monthly cap would have reached at RM2k (RM2000 x 5% = RM100)

Is your bill consumption very high? It is really depends on your usage either to go for auto-billing or online payment.
But for TNB, water(although hardly got any difference) and assessment/quit rent is very good rebate for online payment.

But I'm wondering if you have auto-pay for TM, and you pay one day advance before the bill charge (rough estimation, maybe left a couple of ringgit) whether you will still entitled for autobilling discount or not. You get double rebate, ha! But I doubt it will work.

not really high...estimated at around 400 only.
I never like autopay because it is too late to dispute the readings (TNB)/usage (Telco).

If you already subscribe for TM auto billing, you need to make sure whether you are entitled for RM2 or RM4 rebate (maybe got different tier). If each of your TM bill exceeds RM67 (for TM RM2 rebate) or RM133 (for TM RM4 rebate), pay through OCBC internet banking is better.

In my case, auto billing gimme more.

For paymaster, maybe you can check with CS?
