Hi,

I'm planning to apply a credit card from Maybank. I'm a fresh grad and already started working for almost 3 month. Can any sifus advice me whether maybank is a good choice and how to apply. Other than that, what document should i provide other than my IC and salary slip? I read in the website, for fresh grad should provide employment offer letter and degree cert. Is it true?

Thanks.

MBB got many types of cards, go for MBB Petronas as there is no annual fees.

Since you are a graduate, you can also consider CIMB/Direct Access where you will also enjoy free annual fees for life.

For Direct Access, I noticed that they have cash rebates for weekend shopping and petrol, but both are valid till 30 Sept and 31 Dec respectively. Does this mean both are only one-time promotions? No more cash rebates after that?

If you do not have the intention to use the card and pay the RM50 service tax in advance, why did you apply for it in the first place? It will be a different story if it is a pre-approved card which you did not apply for.

I have been using DA cards for over three years. Their cash rebate programs are always in place, but the participating merchants may change from time to time.

This only applies to basic accounts because banks are required by BNM to open basic accounts for anyone who wants to have one. I think the bank can reject if you want to open more than one of the same type with them.

Refer here:
http://www.bankinginfo.com.my/_system/medi...ng_services.pdf
Banks such as Bank of America and Deutsche Bank offer Basic Savings Account too but they only open this account to their corporate clients.

Just realise that OCBC Titanium Cash back is based on round up/down to the nereast 5sen.

My grocery transaction was RM109.35...
Actual 5% rebate = RM5.47 (RM5.4675)
Given 5% rebate = RM5.45

Direct Access's rebate doesn't take into account of rounding up/down....

The rebate is shown only after the Statement is generated, as a Total Rebate.

My friend's mistake earlier.
I can't see the rebates under the Unbilled Trasactions

Yes, CIMB/DA cash rebate promotions are not permanent features but it is free for life, no need calling calling for annual fee waiver yearly.

Recently, many card offering cash rebate, in order for CIMB/DA to be competitive and encourage the card members to use their cards, I believe they will have continue to offer some cash back schemes.

True, many merchants do offer 0% installements for MBB cards as compared to CIMB/DA. For example, DELL does offer 0% for MBB and Citibank only. And HP online also accept Ambank, Citibank, EON Bank, Maybank, HSBC, OCBC and RHB for 0% installments payments but not CIMB/DA.

As I mentioned, go for MBB Petronas which has no annual fees, but for petrol you only benefit if you pump at Petronas. If you want 0% schemes, yes go for MBB.

FYI, if you want Acer or HP, Harvey Norman basically accept any CC for 0% installment scheme.

OCBC Titanium card monthly rebate is within calendar or statement month.

Referring to official faq, (click here), question 2 seems indicating calendar month but question 3 seems indicating statement month.

Can someone confirm or ask OCBC, please?

OCBC Titanium Total cash rebate is credited on statement date. That means it's the last transaction line in your monthly statement.
Agreed that the FAQ is slightly wrong... rebate is credited in the same spending month (if before the statement date)
