Is it really multitasking when most apps are not updated to work with multitasking yet? Apps like Pulse News Reader simply loads up again when you select it from the multitask bar, so technically it's not 'running in the background', right?

frankly quite disappointed with the 4.2.1 upgrade, nothing special, multitasking is nothing new, still took me ages to backup (it took more than 3 hours to backup the ipad and there isn't much data in it to begin with - they should fix that backup problem)

there is no proper way to exit an app other than to hit the home button....then it lies in the background using up precious memory and battery i suppose....and u have to close it manually.

and now the side lock become the mute button.....

when i was trying to lock the screen today, hitting the home button twice, sliding right, pressing the slide lock button, my fren commented that the programmer at apple must be some arcade player - it's like some combo move.... 

on the bright side, i stimulated the china economy

basically what you need to do now is to kick it out of recovery mode.
I had the same problem, just cant update/restore the ipad at the very last like the pic you posted. and even after a few try its still like that.

a good kick out will solve the problem.

tats the process of updating tat u hav to endure.........mine takes abt 30~40 mins and i dun hav much data/media/apps in my 32GB Ipad. Do u hav lots of data in your Ipad b4 u update?

Anyone knows if the built-in vpn function in the iPad is the same as CISCO Anyconnect app for the iphone? I want to be able to remote my workstation from the iPad

Try finding this program called iPhone Backup Switch. Basically what is does is before you open your iTunes, you can choose whether you enable or disable your iTunes backup. Works well for me.

I am new with ipad. I am getting 1 32gb 3g+wifi in Singapore soon.

Can anyone help: 
1) Do i need to activate the ipad for 3g version? How?
2) If i do not have a micro sim yet, is it activatable?
3) Wat are the steps to be done for me to be able to use the Ipad?

no, what i want is to backup with less time consumed. in itunes you can cancel backup just by clicking the x button.

after i left it there on my table, i went out, and the IPAD was active back around dinner time . . .

i cant upgrade my IPAD to 4.2.1 thr Itunes, it always hang rite there for like few hours

i tired to re-restore few times... but still the same, stuck there, just like the pic above..

1) all activation require iTunes. just plug already can.
2) activatable.
3) -a) install iTunes.
----b) plug it
----c) get popcorn and wait for a while then you are done.
