can be perfectly thwarted by anti roach units. toss just needs to pure stalker mix immortal, terran spam rauders, etc. however, its still an uphill fight cuz roaches are cheap (i mean unit cost, but yeah that too www) and the +1 range makes things like marines/zealots/lings almost completely useless

Don't Marauders own Roaches for cost? (not to mention stim, which is auto-win in many cases).

roaches are 75/25 with a decent regen...
you can kinda outmass them and transition into muta accordingly...
and with the creep advantage its even better =p

Also worth noting that they can be produced in groups of 3 to 6 in one go

i prefer early zergling and roach mix. i also plant some spine crawlers if the enemy's a zerg in the beginning. bad thing is that you have to mass-plant it altogether or it will fall apart pretty easily and you need to have good teamwork. however, if you do, you can wipe that player's multi possibility and keep the pressure on for the entire duration unless you don't destroy them b4 they make up enough roaches+zergling/baneling method. if you are playing a match where the teammate's base is close to one another, you can make a nydus worm at the spine crawler nest and supply units quickly from there. it does work, and shouldn't be easy for the enemy to destroy the base as it SHOULD be crawling with bunch of spine crawlers and ur reinforcement.

imho, the CORE unit for zvz would be hydra...
but still...roach opening is pretty good against banelings...
they are 1 bloody hell of a tanker...lolz laugh.gif

and spine crawlers are not good against mass lings...
js get 1 or 2 to scare off your opponent...lol

so far in my ZvZ, the team who goes muta 1st will win..

Muta + banelings pawns hydra + roaches easily..

Muta surely is one of the best ways to kill off annoying roaches who can easily melt your cute banelings... Well, that build is totally not suggested when it comes to vT though. Mass marines can have a muta-bbq if they bump into a muta group. Be careful about that. Roaches ftw when it comes to terran! Careful for roadblock+tank combo though...
