Damn, I got owned in practice league 2v2 by someone who spammed void rays against me while I was going for 4gate. It was kind of stupid that I only had stalkers while he had a fleet of VRs. I tried to go for collosi harass but I couldn't get the right buildings up in time because of lack of knowledge :| I think it's because of the rocks that are placed in novice map ramps that my 4gate isn't working.
After that loss, I tried VR with full upgrades spam against 2 Terrans and won the match almost single-handedly with a mothership. It feels stupid because it took me so long to get that much void rays with such upgrades. Is there any other good strat I can use? Colossus + Warp prism harass looks very effective, I saw HD's commentary on TLO vs WhiteRa (i'm in love with him) and he managed to get 26 kills with his colossus and warp prism alone, on drones of course. Perfect micro-ing! If I didn't use the right term, what does micro actually mean? Super newbie :| This post has been edited by #Fly: Oct 12 2010, 07:05 PM |

Those games strats won't apply in practice leagues.
It is better that you just skip practice leagues if you plan to play normally cause those rocks really screws up your gameplay when you enter a proper league game. |

Definitely, practice leagues are there for players to learn about BO in my opinion. If you're ok with it then skip it.

@Moonflown
I'm not sure about build orders atm It normally leads me to spam void rays and then I forget almost everything else because i know i'll win already |

Watched your replay. Here's a few things that I feel you can improve on.
1. Your minerals are piling up already very early on in the game. Try not to let your resource go beyond the 300 mark. Your end game minerals were 2000 and over. Just imagine how many more units you could have with 2000? 2. Build constant probes. You stopped probe production a while when you reached 18 probes. 3. Start building gateway units once you get the gateway. It wasn't used until the middle of the game. 4. Micro-ing is good, but macro-ing should be improved on too. If it's against a harder computer, I don't think you could have been able to block off the first wave of attack early on. Hope this helps. |

Perfect micro-ing! If I didn't use the right term, what does micro actually mean? Super newbie :| 1. Consistency - Production of probes/units 2. Sight - Know what your opponent is up to. If you go on early cybernetics, then go robo for observers. I am sure you can get them before any of your opponents get a Void Ray. Early scout with a probe is very effective as you can switch between units to counter your enemy. As your opponent will try to do something when you caught him on very early gas for VR rush, so it buys you extra time for him to build up on a bit of defense incase you go straight ahead with zealots to slow him down. I'd run my zealots into their mineral line to slow their VRs production. 3. Control the game and you are way ahead. Do not allow your opponent to harrass you. Always counter an attack if your opponent loses troops over an attack on you. Hope some of these helps. The rest are very much dependent on how you play the game, in terms of micro-ing and macro-ing |

Hey guys, just wanted to ask about something regarding PvZ matchup.
Is it really neccessery to do fast expand (gateway at natural to wall off and nexus around 18-19) when against PvZ? Because whenever i met Zerg player in ladder, fast expand comes in my mind. :S |

So far I find that denying their expand to their natural is really important.
Can't really deny it that much but you can try and slow it down at least by putting a pylon right on it. |

Fast expanding against aggressive Zerg is very risky because you are very vulnerable to early lings/roaches/hydra + nydus worm. If Zerg decides to play passively once he knows you going FE, zerg can just pump pure drones and no way that protoss can catch up with it.

imo toss has many oppenings against zergs who FE..
If the zerg goes for hatch before pool you can build a nexus at 16th probe without building a gateway.. your economy will be way superior than the zerg.. than build forge n mass gateways with upgrade att dmg so that your zealots could 2 hit kill his lings.. you could turtle up n build two startport n harass with pheonix you could build a forge 1st n block his choke n cannon to deny his expo maps like metalopolis you could even cannon his base because his mineral lines are near his choke point.. imba? there are many more! Does 4gate work in 2v2,3v3 or 4v4 matches?
