When they replace your router, you may even get a used one (like in my case). I had some other unifi user's login combination saved in mine when I got it.
*
that's bad, im gonna request for the new one but God knows how long it takes for them to replace

by the way, the technician was saying that TM recognises the problem of the router and is currently working out with D'Link for another model

btw, i played BC2 as well but on the ps3

It's only a problem with the new batches of DIR-615 G1 routers, no idea what TM is doing >_> A new model you say? I'm pretty sure its going to be locked down and have backdoor access for all call center staff 24/7. TM never learns from their mistakes IMO

I tried the PS3 version but I'm not so good with console FPS gaming tongue.gif

I am noob in telecommunication network, have few questions as follow: -

a) My current router is of Linksys WAG120N Wireless-N ADSL2+ Modem Router, is it compatible to TM DIR-615 G1 routers?

b) Plan to upgrade from my current Streamyx Combo (RM 110) to UNIFI VIP5, it's still under 1 year contract, possible to upgrade without breaching the contract?

Thanks in advance

You cannot use a ADSL modem router to setup unifi. It is becos it do not has WAN port. You need a pure wireless router.

Yes, you can upgrade ur Streamyx combo to Unifi.

Ok puts the router problem aside. Still waiting from the Technician to come tho. But I still cannot figure out how they gonna lay the fiber cable to my second floor. (concrete ceiling somemore)I am on 3 storey house. So it can be really hard sweat.gif There is no back street behind my house it is a neighbor area, still wondering where they gonna lay cables coming from. hmm.gif There is no poles around my area too. all telephone lines are underground. *cough I got a feeling that I need a couple of homeplug really soon.

Just curious where u guys put ur BTU, routers? Right infront of Living room?

And then there are 6 phone sockets in my houses. I guess it is pretty much become useless after I install Unifi and cancel regular phone line?

My btu is in my room 2nd floor. Drill dinding house to make a hole, for fiber cable from outdoor fiber unit. (FTP or FPB something like that). The outdoor unit will be installed by TM contractor, external party. They will lay cable from fiber distribution point up to your outdoor fiber unit. TM staff will test the reading at the fiber outdoor unit first. If reading is ok, then the TM contractor will leave, the rest of the equipment and internal wiring will be done by the TM staff.

is that ugly thing sit infront of your house. Unique for each house?

I just did a search, there is no green dustbin in my street. How they lay cables to your second floor? Cables climb the wall and Drill a hole on the wall behind your house? *usually most house have a small back Jalan(*street) behind them but in my case I dont have any street. Behind me is my neighbor lol

Does that green dustbin thingy mean that Unifi is available already, or is it just the normal streamyx line?

The TM box outside my house/on the telephone pole was installed in my area in February/March this year.

I got my Unifail 3 weeks ago.

Hi alextong8386, ok, so there is WAN port at BTU and connect to WAN port at TM DIR-615 G1 right? Is it possible to connect TM DIR-615 G1 (VDSL) router (LAN port) to my ADSL modem router (LAN) with RG45 cable? So I do not need to change downstream settings.

Thanks again

Depends on a range of things. TM is inconsistent. 1st time round burn after 24 of installation and called at 6pm then next morning they come replace. 2nd one burn take 5 DAYS with calls everyday or even twice a day but nothing done till we get angry scold many many times only come. the 2nd time round TM refuse to somehow send some1 to replace and just keep making so call reports and never get back to us or phone us back.

So it really depends on who and how they handle your case and also wat u tell them. often they think its problem with your computer settings and other config but people who know they stuff is treated as noobie as well. waste of time.

No i heard some1 actually wire 1 RJ15 line from their fiber modem to 1 of the sockets in your house and all will work as normal. but i pretty sure u need to cut your landlines first before doing this. Also u can buy additional cordless phone put around the house but does not need a socket each as it connects wireless to your main base set. Also the DECT phone TM gives is GPA compatible so u can register different brands of phone to the base set not only Panasonic.

Will there be any interference from DECT (cordless - 2.4GHz) phone onto wireless network especially when the cordless phone rings. I experience my current wireless network being disturbed by cordless phone, so I have to sacrificed cordless phone, same as microwave oven if your wireless router is close to it.
