Sometimes my DIR-615 TM router disconnects the internet connection(lights remain green, but comp says no internet connection) after being idle and I have to pull out the power cable and insert it back to restart it to make it work again. Anyone experiencing this problem?
*
Yup i had this less then 24 hrs after installation. by next day the router did this few times every min until it just unable to start anymore. so TM came next day replace

i already put one dedicated notepad cooler to cool down the DIR-65 and Huawei Gateway, hopefully it won't get fried that fast
*
The router does not get very hot just warm like any other routers, so i dont this it is because it is too hot. When my 2nd one burn, the router had 2 light in the front and the thing remain cold like its not switched on.

The IPTV has its own dedicated bandwidth.
*
Technology of fiber allows at least up to 100Mb/s so if subscribe 5Mb connection u that wat u get. IPTV i heard from a TM person that its 10MB allocated and DECT phone is 1MB. so there is plenty of bandwidth available

Finally, my VIP5 installed already !!  rclxms.gif

A team of 7 [TM+contractor] started at 10:30am, by 3:30pm already can surf, from registration to installation all done within a week, to be honest, I'm quite surprise, good job TM-UniFi team !!  rclxms.gif

I change the DIR-615 password and re-configure bridge mode according to guidelines at: http://unifi.athena.my/index.php?option=co...id=49&Itemid=61
I'm using my current Buffalo WHR-G300N [dd-wrt] so no need to change any settings on LAN.

So far everything seem to be ok for the past 24 hours, internet download/upload, IPTV & phone all running ok no disconnection issue.
The uTorrent speed is definitely improved:
[attachmentid=1711215]

I'm also surprised with the IPTV, it has few HD channels, those SD channels picture quality seem to be better than Byond!
I don't know how to change the aspect ratio, it seem to set at 4:3 and cannnot be changed, does anyone knows how to change it?

Other than that no complaint yet, only thing now still no idea how to replace that DIR-615 completely, really hope it don't burn ....  sweat.gif

The dlink 615 is a very poor router crashes often and burn within few days. I got my 2ND one replaced today after many many many call to TM. The 1st one was replaced next day but 2nd one took almost a week so no unifi for those 5 days. They very stubborn CS even tell u they sending some1 today but wait whole day no1 appear. So just hope your router don't break cos u get headache from dealing with CS. Calling them 2-3 times a day for 5 days only get results. Worse CS in the world.

whats the main reason that will lead to router being fried? My router had been on since installation till now.
I want to find out the possibilities that will fry the router, seriously nobody want to be out of Internet
*
Yup i also trying to find out as i gone through alot of stress for few days with TM CS. extremely unhappy with their dont care response. This new 3rd router in 1 week and 1 day of installation is still working after more then 12 hours of replacement. To me is like WOW a record breaker. Just waiting to see if it will burn by tmr. TM should look into wats wrong if so many people not only me report burnt dlink 615. zzz inefficient company.

I don't really think the failure rate for DIR-615's can be as high as you guys say it is. There was even another thread here about how to get your ipod/itouch/ipad working with the DIR-615 wifi and Unifi support claimed his router was faulty/spoilt because they didn't know what was causing it. Some of you here have said the orange light keeps blinking, this means your DIR-615 may have entered emergency room mode by mistake. Normally when the router is physically damaged, there will be no lights on it. Having orange lights blinking/constant reboots indicates a software problem that could be fixed by a re-flash in Emergency Room mode.

Truth be told, the DIR-615 G1 is a decent router using a standard router chipset + hardware. The only thing causing many of these bugs is the firmware that TM has placed in it. I've been torrenting for 3 days straight after flashing my DIR-615 G1 to dd-wrt and its been really stable. Since it has a 384Mhz proc + 32MB RAM (which is way better than some of your linksys 54g models), it can easily handle 10,000+ connections with a custom conntrack table size. smile.gif

Disagree on the router being not that bad. because i have experience 2 of these routers spoil after few days of use so that is 3 routers within 8 days of installation. When it does go out, they have a range of behavior such as no lights on only blue light at the side and cannot do anything not even access its log in page. its just a dead plastic box. my 2nd burnt router only able to switch on but once any1 try to connect to it, it will hang or maybe in a few minutes time. i can almost confirm that it is because of these new batch of routers like some1 else said here because there are people who have it for few months no problems. There is definitely a fault.

Perhaps the new batches, I'm using one from early April myself. I'm just saying there's no way to tell if its a hardware/firmware error unless you hook up a serial cable to its board and look at the boot process. What I do know however is that when it comes to routing/NAT stability, our routers have equal performance due to the firmware they've loaded into it. If you guys have this problem again (perma blue light or all orange) you should try and see if its possible to boot into the Emergency Room as you might be able to reflash it to get it to work again. The DIR-615 is actually pretty hard to brick during a re-flash because of this feature.

So will u do that when the router is completely dead as in if i plug into LAN the comp does not even detect that it is connected?

I just signed up Unifi today. May be in 2 weeks someone gonna drill my house......

Well I cannot really stand the ping time the streamyx offer. It is really pathetic. Hopefully Unifi is a lot better.
*
Unifi is alot better in ping times as i testes but the router they give is the bad thing. Ping in flying spaghetti monster dota can be like 0, 15, 15ms and speedtest ping is 7-30 ms which is miles better then streamyx which gives me 90 ping

Describe "Bad thing" you experience in the router. I hope u dont mean the "bad" router adding significant ping time, as i do not see this often happen.

The ping time I mentioning here is oversea.

Router crashes and burns easily, got 2 replaced on my 3rd router since 2 week of installation so hopefull this 1 works

how long did they replace ur router?? i called them up right after the dead of the router but they never give a date for replacement
*

[/quote]

Depends on a range of things. TM is inconsistent. 1st time round burn after 24 of installation and called at 6pm then next morning they come replace. 2nd one burn take 5 DAYS with calls everyday or even twice a day but nothing done till we get angry scold many many times only come. the 2nd time round TM refuse to somehow send some1 to replace and just keep making so call reports and never get back to us or phone us back.

So it really depends on who and how they handle your case and also wat u tell them. often they think its problem with your computer settings and other config but people who know they stuff is treated as noobie as well. waste of time.
