Finally, my VIP5 installed already !!  rclxms.gif

A team of 7 [TM+contractor] started at 10:30am, by 3:30pm already can surf, from registration to installation all done within a week, to be honest, I'm quite surprise, good job TM-UniFi team !!  rclxms.gif

I change the DIR-615 password and re-configure bridge mode according to guidelines at: http://unifi.athena.my/index.php?option=co...id=49&Itemid=61
I'm using my current Buffalo WHR-G300N [dd-wrt] so no need to change any settings on LAN.

So far everything seem to be ok for the past 24 hours, internet download/upload, IPTV & phone all running ok no disconnection issue.
The uTorrent speed is definitely improved:
[attachmentid=1711215]

I'm also surprised with the IPTV, it has few HD channels, those SD channels picture quality seem to be better than Byond!
I don't know how to change the aspect ratio, it seem to set at 4:3 and cannnot be changed, does anyone knows how to change it?

Other than that no complaint yet, only thing now still no idea how to replace that DIR-615 completely, really hope it don't burn ....  sweat.gif

The dlink 615 is a very poor router crashes often and burn within few days. I got my 2ND one replaced today after many many many call to TM. The 1st one was replaced next day but 2nd one took almost a week so no unifi for those 5 days. They very stubborn CS even tell u they sending some1 today but wait whole day no1 appear. So just hope your router don't break cos u get headache from dealing with CS. Calling them 2-3 times a day for 5 days only get results. Worse CS in the world.

I believe it's "123456".
I saw them punch that in when they configure my STB the other day.
Good luck.

Can we connect our desktop direct from Fiberhome unit using LAN2 without going through the D-Link DIR-615 G1.

I know..but what to tell them?
Say that im upgrading to UNIFI?

What i need to bring?

Streamyx bill?
*
No need to bring bill, they'll fill in those parts for you. Bring back the modem/phone set (if any) and make sure the serials are noted down in the form. The most updated cancellation form has Unifi upgrade as one of the cancellation reason.

Technology of fiber allows at least up to 100Mb/s so if subscribe 5Mb connection u that wat u get. IPTV i heard from a TM person that its 10MB allocated and DECT phone is 1MB. so there is plenty of bandwidth available

Nice.
Then, I don't have to worry about turning off the STB when not in use while I'm browsing/downloading at the same time.
Thanks for the info.

I've been using the DIR-615 router for exactly one month now...so far so good though I only have it on for 12-14 hours/day and not 24/7 like some of you.

I have only changed the DNS settings to use Google Public DNS on the router but that's about it -- all other router settings intact. No problems with WiFi so far.

Usage pattern includes normal browsing, YouTube video streaming, light torrenting and occasional IPTV. At any one time, there will be max 2 users. One wired and one via WiFi. The wired connection is used most of the time.

My router is placed on an old unused metal-casing router which incidentally acts as a heat sink. It is also attached to a surge protector. I wonder if those measures helped...hmmm... hmm.gif

Surely, the person who has fried 4 routers must be using the router in a different way.

So, like HenDa, I'm eager to find out the possible causes for the router failing as I would like to take necessary precautionary measures.

I'm planning to test this hypothesis by placing the router above my BTU and see if the wireless fails in the morning. So far I've placed it next to each other.

Yup i also trying to find out as i gone through alot of stress for few days with TM CS. extremely unhappy with their dont care response. This new 3rd router in 1 week and 1 day of installation is still working after more then 12 hours of replacement. To me is like WOW a record breaker. Just waiting to see if it will burn by tmr. TM should look into wats wrong if so many people not only me report burnt dlink 615. zzz inefficient company.

I was told not to stack them on top of each other - the installer said that the BTU might overheat!

May I know what is the advantage for using the VLAN Bridge using the D-Link DIR-615 G1 router? If this D-Link router on fried, we still cannot online using the customize router.

Someone posted in V5 that he cannot install VIP20 because the signal strength in the DB (green dustbin) is only 24dB, wonder has it been resolved. I am subscribing to VIP5 now and my installer told me mine is 20dB at DB and he said it is good signal strength already (measure 19dB at home end), so does it mean I cannot upgrade to VIP20?

DamonLBS,

Check out rizvanrp's Unifi handbook.
This link Unifi Handbook @ athena has the steps to go into configuration page.
But not sure if it's safe to play around though.
Good luck.
