Just curious,

1) How do we know the max. allowable wattage for the bulb / light socket prior to
    purchasing any bulb?
(If there is no indication on the socket)

2) What will happen if the bulb we buy exceeds the max allowable wattage?

Thanks.

1) Check at your DB box MCB. Normally MCB for light is 10A or 15A. For 10A = 2400W. Do your calculation that your bulb add in total.

2) Your MCB trip.

Price of lighting in TXX TXX puchong increase. (Inflation?)
Find that the price there is no longer competitive anymore.

Last month went to survey downlight and get quoted RM18 for ballast 6 inch downlight, this month went back and the price already increase 16-20%

Even the uncle customer stand beside ask the sales person the same question "why is the price from last month is different than this month?"

But then there are some items (which they buy in bulk) are still cheaper than other lighting shop. just try your luck!

My electrician suggested that I use normal fluorescent light (warm yellow) to replace the T5 lights.

According to him, fluorescent light has longer lifespan than T5.
Did anyone here use normal fluorescent light to replace T5?

Philip also is a crap. My early home using, is all philip. Now switch to hitachi. Running 2yrs average or 8khr before burn. It is between the spec as it claim.

If it blow off between each other continue, maybe cause by the high voltage. Sometime incoming is 250v.

T5 or T8 is same florescent light. T5 come with electronic ballast, and T8 can be coil or electronic ballast. Performance t5 is better. Don't get China brand, need to get reputable brand.

Nowadays T5 is the preferred flourescent light as it isthe newer and smaller model, but lighting wise T8 being bigger is arguably brighter.

Real practical example, mad valley parking used to be t8, they change to t5, and during transition can see the difference, and now the parking is so much brighter. My mom house I replace the old t8 to t5, brightness is so much much difference.

Dimmer you have two option LED or halogen type. Led will be more expensive, halogen will be cheaper, but running cost is higher. Another forumer mention can use Pll light with special ballast, but I have not personally seen it before.

My house use t5 in the light box and within the light box area I put down light.
