if upstream/front-end could not produce raw material/component due to flood, it is going to impact downstream/back-end/media side as well

Oh icic.. this means is not a good time to get a new HDD or new pc

Nidec supplies HDD motors and has 70% - 80% share of the HDD market

It's reads as if all of Nidec's operations is in Thailand, I'm not very sure about that, but if that is true, then you can buy HDD now, sell off 2 months later and make huge profit

Waa.. I think some reseller will keep some stock after the price hike only they sell

option is don't buy WD hard drive, and Nidec is restarting its Thailand operations .

Other manufacturers based on other country have an incentive to charge higher, no way it's gonna just be WD.
Gonna be an industry wide price hike, though, WD's prices might be higher than the rest due its larger exposure to the flood.
