But routing to US with 175 is not bad , but latency is kinda bad. To china , HK , and to japan , the routing sucks big time

Added on August 9, 2010, 8:32 am QUOTE(chooncc @ Aug 8 2010, 11:37 PM) streamyx really suck, celcom more faster even using 3g for routing to china... it's funny, early in the morning everyday, like right now, routing to china/hk/japan are ok (speed is slow, but acceptable for web surfing), but later of the day it starts to get worse and worse, i even have hard time just to get connected on QQ (the chinese IM) client at night. wtf streamyx 4mb doing... almost all 100% packet loss This post has been edited by redforest: Aug 9 2010, 09:12 AM |

QUOTE(jchong @ Aug 9 2010, 06:34 PM) Does streamyx 4MB throttle ftp speeds? they don't throttle ftp download speed. no idea what's wrong. other than bad connection to servers in china with 175.145.*.*, since last friday morning i don't get consistent max speed while downloading from any overseas server, including american and european servers (yeah i know, speedtest done with tm's speedtest server shows max speed). when I called the local technician regarding the speed drop last friday afternoon, after checking my pot and checking with KL headquarter, he said there's some breakdown and it's KL's problem. My 4MB got activated today and speedtests are ok: ![]() But when I dl using ftp (with IDM), speed is only 140-150 KBps: What's wrong? BTW I'm on 175 ip range. anyway, just an update for my issue with 175.145.*.*, talked to their 2nd level troubleshooting, sent some pingplotter screenshots to them, waiting for their response, it's said to take 2-3 days >.< I was told that my account is set to get 218.111.*.* by default, only if 218.111.*.* is not available, i will get 175.145.*.*. So according to the technician who called me, all of the 218.111.*.* are already in used and that's why I get the 175.145.*.*. Few hours after the call, on second thought, I randomly pinged more than 20 ip addresses under 218.111.*.* and didn't get any ping reply at all, doesn't that mean no computers are using those ips? So how could they be in used already? =.=|| This post has been edited by redforest: Aug 9 2010, 07:00 PM |

When doing speedtests I notice something funny. Using the P1 Speed Test, when start the test the first few seconds it will be like 2200-2300 kbps steady, then suddenly jump to 4500 for a short while, then the test ends and it will report 4500 as the speed.
Testing on speedtest.net also happens. It will be slow and steady for a while then suddenly shoot up. And speedtest will use the final speed in its report. Does this happen to you all too? Just did one test which is really weird. Stalled for a while then shoot up like crazy... look at this below!!! ![]() This post has been edited by jchong: Aug 9 2010, 10:15 PM |

You can ping my IP and my router would capture the packets and respond back , saying that such host exists. Most of the time , you dont want other people to know you are online , else you could be a target for hackers ! |

Indeed you can, I got quite a number of successful ping replies by random pinging 175.145.101.* Most if not all modem router will reply to your ping.Added on August 10, 2010, 8:49 am QUOTE(bai1101 @ Aug 10 2010, 12:09 AM) ya i also find that it really a lot packet lost when morning and night.
