Any 4mb user in seri kembangan?
I stay near south city plaza area, wondering any 4mb user and ur comment?

I'm living near New Village area, and using 4Mbps. My area the telephone wires are pretty old though, so my SNR Margin is very crappy, but nevertheless it's very stable and so far no disconnection.

Added on June 5, 2010, 8:43 amActually no matter what SNR margin, as long as it's more than 6, you should be able to apply for 4Mbps, but with a high risk of disconnection.

My SNR margin is only 5-7 db which is really on the border for a ADSL2+.... as you can see this is my pingtest. Everything is awesome, but the only thing I will face problem is Packet Loss due to the increase in HEC errors,

how to check my line is FAST or INTERLEAVE?
*
Interleaver Deapth is the one that tells you whether you are on Fast Path or Interleaved. Fast Path will have interleaver value of 1. 2 Could mean you are on Interleave mode.

my connection never got dc.

even downloading can get 160~170kbps maintain.

so, thats y i wondering, ask the technician 3-4 times, some said can and some said cant, ask for upgrade they never came  sad.gif

edit: my current torrent speed: [attachmentid=1624675] wink.gif

so what u think?

From what I see... your attenuation is quite high. It's quite unlikely stable if you upgrade to 4Mbps. Also do take note you are currently on G.DMT mode. If you could switch it to ADSL2+ mode, then you should be able to see the exact attenuation and SNR margin.

mine goes down to 200kbps. upload speed is fine as well.

been going on for 3 weeks++. at first, i just let it slide because of the SW4 issues.

then, cannot tahan already. complaint to cs a few times.. my family members complained that they are unable to surf at night times.

last nite called, twice the line got dc by them. never called me back. no effort at all. called back .. straight asked for supervisor. supervisor promised to follow up but to no avail. called for the fourth time, only then the SV called me back. I 'bambu' her a bit. Not in a high tone but more to common sense and goodwill. lol.

as expected, they send an another technician again. tech-man claimed my router got problems. just bought the router like a few months ago. provided them screenies. now waiting for their reply ..

but i believed as someone said, they will just ignore you. i dont really want to go to the newspapers again. too much hassle. been there once.

oh ya .. sometimes i got error 691 : invalid username and passwd ..
*
No one ask you to use newspaper... just use MCMC or SKMM.

ur Line Mode is G.dmt, i dont think can support 4mb hmm.gif correct me if im wrong  notworthy.gif

Try call them if can adjust the line to adsl2+ would be much better
*
You are mistaken, 2Mbps and 4Mpbs are on ADSL2+, 1Mbps and below are still using ADSL technology. G.dmt is quite similar to ADSL.

As long as your old router supports ADSL2+, then you should be fine.

they don't throttle ftp download speed. no idea what's wrong. other than bad connection to servers in china with 175.145.*.*, since last friday morning i don't get consistent max speed while downloading from any overseas server, including american and european servers (yeah i know, speedtest done with tm's speedtest server shows max speed). when I called the local technician regarding the speed drop last friday afternoon, after checking my pot and checking with KL headquarter, he said there's some breakdown and it's KL's problem.

anyway, just an update for my issue with 175.145.*.*, talked to their 2nd level troubleshooting, sent some pingplotter screenshots to them, waiting for their response, it's said to take 2-3 days >.< I was told that my account is set to get 218.111.*.* by default, only if 218.111.*.* is not available, i will get 175.145.*.*. So according to the technician who called me, all of the 218.111.*.* are already in used and that's why I get the 175.145.*.*.

Few hours after the call, on second thought, I randomly pinged more than 20 ip addresses under 218.111.*.* and didn't get any ping reply at all, doesn't that mean no computers are using those ips? So how could they be in used already? =.=||
*
lol.. obviously you can't do a random ping... 218.111 and 175.145 ips are private IPs. You can't trace from the outside nor could you perform a traceroute from your computer (from commandline/command prompt).

@Wolf516

Your line stats are good, people just got confused because of the scale used to measure your line stats...

Your attenuation for Downstream is actually 8.5 not 85... the scale used in the chart is 0.1 db lol.. so its 85 x 0.1 = 8.5db which is VERY GOOD!!!

Hell with your excellent DS and US SNR, 22.4 and 15.5 respectively, your 4 Meg connection should fly after 24 hours of the technician inspecting your line...

They WOULD not provision you with a 4 Meg service if your DS attenuation is more than 30 db lol.....

Your current speedtest is just indicative of the fact that you have just been port capped at 4 Meg, but your account cap is still at 1 Meg, which gives the 1.56 Meg result using speedtest..

Take it easy bro.. its all good to me...
*
The SNR margin needs to be higher. 15.4 Is only at the border.

torrent hovering between 330kBps - 360kBps(capped at 5110)...
hotfile sucked even with premium..
direct dl around the same with BT..
speedtest with TM speedtest, around 2800-3100kbps
speedtest.net, 2.5mbps...
ping test around 50-60ms...
*
I don't have any issues with Hotfile though. ping with 50-60ms is quite bad IMO.
