wanna check with you guys here...
are you using the RM268 4Mbps package or the Blockbuster Package at RM140?

Been thinking of getting a 4Meg line (using 1Meg now paying RM108 per month for 1MB + phone line)...

I have a question. Can I upgrade the package even though I'm still within the contract period?

earlier tm technician came to my house, btw i applied 4mb unipack
then he said he wanna test first if my house can support 4mb
after a few testing he said my house cannot pass for 4mb even 2mb as well
so, i wanna ask, is my Line Attenuation ok?

What is your distance from your house to exchange?

Line Attenuation and SNR margin is marginal. I'm currently on 4Mbps having attenuation of 38dB but my SNR is 20dB smile.gif I pay the price though as I only manage to achieve max speed of 3.5Mbps due to my line...
The more pressing issue is the SNR margin though. You're currently capped at 2Mbps and its 11.6dB. To have a stable connection without much disconnection, the minimum SNR margin you should have would be at least 16dB. If your line is further capped at 4Mbps, your SNR will drop around 5dB which leaves you a small margin of 6dB for 4Mbps. Having a SNR at 6dB will experience frequent disconnections and would not achieve maximum speed.

Not recommended to upgrade to 4Mbps. But if you're keen to do so, replacing the copper cables in your house might help. Or, you can try plugging it into another telephone socket, if you have more than 1 socket. I've experienced a different line attenuation at different socket in my house. Hope it helps smile.gif

4km btw is too far for 4Mbps if i'm not mistaken

To all sifu,

i've been using 4mb line for few months ago. At first i have no problem even my house is over 4km, only problem is my snr is below 10. Im still satisfy compare to 2mb line that i used before.
i can get 350 - 400 kbps download but now i recently im having issue with auto connect with my Belkin N+ router. When i connect to my billion modem without a router its seem to be fine.So many times i get disconnect then i couldnt reconnect back with my router. So i decided sent it for warranty . After that i received new belkin router,i configured it back then for 2 days it happened again.
Until i week i get this problem mostly i spent around 1 hours to keep reconnect back my connection. I gave up with belkin, last 2 weeks i bought new router LinkSys WRT610N. i used it bout 3 days then im having the same problem again. I felt WTTTTFFFFFFFFFFF......AARRrrrrrGGGgghHHhhh what is goin with me???????? why i can connect direct with modem but cant connect with router.i had to keep pressing RECONNECT button for an hour to get it tru.Sometime if i was lucky 10 mins i can get it back again. I thought my modem got problem so i bought new modem, it still happen again.
I am sick when i see reconnect button and i am sick to switch cable between my modem n router. My worst nitemare if i see triangle icon at taskbar below. Not agaaaaaaaain...even i wanna write this also happen.

The official guideline is the loop must be <3km and your downstream attenuation must be below 40dB to qualify.

Anyway I'm guessing TM gives less priority to Unipack subscribers because they pay LESS and if your area has high Business/Regular/Old packages subscribers, most likely they'll decline your application because you are paying LESS monthyl which means LESS revenue for them.

Also since you'll be getting less priority, they'll also put your account on slower IP ranges.

Fair right?
Pay less = Get Less

No problem with your line attenuation, but SNR margin too low.

Hi anyone,

After successfully upgraded to 4Mb package, although my download speed through Megaupload speedtest.net can reach 4xx kb/s speed, but my SNR margin dropped to 17 and sometimes 18. Why?

Is there anything I can do to solve the problem?
