Don't forget in China there's heavy censoring. I'm not saying Malaysian ISP better, but you should thailand for comparison instead.

malaysia using ADSL2+ technology
ADSL2+ 24 Mbit/s for dl and 1.0 Mbit/s for upload
china use ADSL 2+M

Hi guys... Sorry to budge in like this, I am a 1 Mbps user but I am interested in getting 4 Mbps... I called them and did try to apply for 4 Mbps... The thing is that, they never came... They claim that got not enough port... But the thing is that, my line was upgraded to 2 Mbps from 1.5 Mbps for a day or two... Not sure the reason... And phone line poof... gone suddenly... So no more internet...

Complained to TM... But and they claim the problem was jumper... So, they changed the jumper and my line was stranglely back to 1 Mbps... When it was at 2 Mbps, the speed would jump up and down... I asked TM on the phone, the progress of my upgrade, but they claimed they did the testing a few days before that... I was surprised... They didn't come to my house to do any testing...

I suspect I can support 4 Mbps but was refused to be upgraded... There is this small white box just at the back of my house... the pole is behind my home and the tm silver cylinder is less than 3 km of my house... Now I am just wondering, was I refused to be upgraded??? I know the TM technician was quite lazy... My friend applied 4 Mbps in Dec 2009, until now TM never contacted him and he did contact them and they said they looking for port... Lately, they told him his area cannot support...

Your technique will work , trust me it worked for me

I'll just play with them untill they did not bother to update. Then I dont call or annoy them. I just send a letter saying that I am very displeased , generally they would get back to me and do. This is how some people did it. I would just wait and stay cool

biggrin.gif biggrin.gif . the support staff , oso human, sometime we can talk very nicely , tell them our problem, why we need it urgently to be up, i think they will appreciated rather
then scold,"maki hamun". or use not good word to them.

I just saw 1 person at TMpoint counter, im not sure what is the problem, but, until the customer support said. " Encik, tolong bersabar , kita akan update kepada encik within 24hrs", but seem the person, don bother to understand and keep pushing asking.. wth.. rclxub.gif

I think most of them don't really know the problem. When they listen to us complaining about the 'speed', they automatically think of the quality and problem because of the 'slow speed' we're getting.

My auntie subscribed to 4mbps(installer came end of May). But till now still not resolved(I think). Last weekend I went to her house to install a router for her, and she complained about the speed. Even she knows it's still not upgraded yet. She called constantly before that. So she called again that day, and after arguing and explaining a while, she passed the fone to me. And you know what the guy said to me. "Oh it's because it's the undersea cable broken again, that's why still slow.." not exactly like that, but your get the picture. Here we are explaining to him about our problems, and his answer is that. I told him the speed in the modem shows a slower speed than what she should be getting. After that he straight away told me to be patient because he's transferring me to another level guy or something.

I hope it's just a lack of training on his and TM's part.

Your Attenuation is a bit high and your SNR margin is a bit low.

SN Margin (AKA Signal to Noise Margin or Signal to Noise Ratio)
Relative strength of the DSL signal to Noise ratio. 6dB is the lowest dB manufactures specify for modem to be able to synch. In some instances interleaving* can help raise the noise margin to an acceptable level. The higher the number the better for this measurement.
> 6dB or below is bad and will experience no synch or intermittent synch problems
> 7dB-10dB is fair but does not leave much room for variances in conditions
> 11dB-20dB is good with no synch problems
> 20dB-28dB is excellent
> 29dB or above is outstanding

Line Attenuation
Measure of how much the signal has degraded between the DSLAM and the modem. Maximum signal loss recommendation is usually about 60dB. The lower the dB the better for this measurement.
> 20dB and below is outstanding
> 20dB-30dB is excellent
> 30dB-40dB is very good
> 40dB-50dB is good
> 50dB-60dB is poor and may experience connectivity issues
> 60dB or above is bad and will experience connectivity issues

If your assumptions above was right, then i think my line can support right?

Here's the ss, can leave a comment?

From what I see... your attenuation is quite high. It's quite unlikely stable if you upgrade to 4Mbps. Also do take note you are currently on G.DMT mode. If you could switch it to ADSL2+ mode, then you should be able to see the exact attenuation and SNR margin.
