Very weak. Poor , during rainy time or whatever you may have some issues. Its just that you may have connectivity issue. There is no point on requesting to cap to 5Mbps , it will just make things worst.

QUOTE(lordzarx @ Jun 10 2010, 03:45 PM)
guy....i just got back from tm point...
i ask them can i hav 4mb line....and then she said my home does not support 4mb and 2mb...then i said my next door neighbour is using 4mb....then she said, that because i'm connected to different port than my neighbour....

is this claim she made is true??
i can or can't support 4mb?
*
Its true

People in my area , not all can get 4Mbps. It so happens so that it depends on which exchange you're connected to. TM has funny ways of doing things. I got my streamyx later then all other people in my area , but then I can get to enjoy 4Mbps. It seems that my phone wiring goes through different exchange whereas for them it goes to another exchange.

Most likely you may have to pull a new line and pray that it gets connected to the new exchange with 4Mbps support

sigh...
i registered cool unipaack just because i want the 4mb for rm88...

i think my fren is in the same case like you...he registered for a new phone line....because of that he got 4mb

i started using streamyx back in 2005....he just start using last year....maybe that why i'm not connected to new exchange port..

hopefully by the time i finish my contract...there is new UNIFI in my area

hi guys, please check if my line can support 4mbps or not. it says coverage in my area not available but im sure some ppl are using it nearby
the reason they give is that the exchange was further than 3km away but opposite my house got 4mbps.
anyway, im using 1Mbps now and suffering from it, dl speed of 400kbps and upload of 200kbps. was wondering if 4mbps will do any good

your attenuation is very poor 50db above becoz of your distance from the exchange, u are getting slow speed because your modem is synced at 512 only not 1mb

I still can't see , why dont you give me the native resolution (direct link to the file) , that would be easier.

Anyway Line Att seems to be very very high , so it will try to sync to the lowest possible speed , in this case 512Kbps

Do you face a lot of disconnection , your downstream seems to be pretty bad. Have you tried establishing a direct connection (bypass all splitter and just link it up) , use a shorter phone cable and see. Just see if it reduces or syncs. From what I sm seeing your line is very bad. So by default your modem says hey I can sustain 1Mbps , I'll try to sync at a slower speed aka at 512Kbps

no disconnection. already tried direct connection the speed is the same. shorter phone cables tried, tmnet been calling me everyday saying they adjusted their speed already. is it because of the copper wire outside?

im already at wits end. shared by 3 person with 512kbps speed. suffering.

Wohooo ... my 4mb just been activated. Did a speed test and get around 3.6mbps. Weird I can't open tmnet own speedometer. Getting ip 218.208.X.X. Is that a good IP?

Or you could ask TM point to lodge a complain for you to move your phone line, or make a SKMM complaint.

I got mine moved from 5km to 3++ km after a TM point complaint, which apparently wasn't enough, and SKMM complaint helped out.
In my case, I had a 2Mbps line at the same house, so it was ridiculous for the 2nd new line to be 5km away, given that 2Mbps line needs the line distance to be less than 3Km

I barely reach 500Kbps on my speedtest at speedtest.tm.net.my during this hour. Sucks
Even my upload speed was much better than download.
