Hi guys,

I just bought Dell U2311H monitor but it hasn't been delivered yet. I'm planning to use it with my laptop.

As my laptop has a display port and hdmi connection, i'm a bit confused which one to use.

Is it better to use DVI-HDMI cable or DP-DP cable? hmm.gif

Any suggestion from those who bought this monitor? icon_question.gif

Thanks for the reply.

Actually, i'm aware that the monitor doesnt have hdmi just display port and dvi by looking at the review site and spec.

What i've been wondering is whether there's anybody using display port cable to connect their monitor to their graphic card.

Is there any advantage of using it instead of DVI>HDMI cable?

Ok can anyone with U2311 who lives in Cyberjaya, or Putrajaya or Puchong demo the LCD to me by playing games like Battlefield or COD4. Hehe!

Not that I'm demanding or something, but just wanna make sure that I don't regret my purchase..

If you live to any fast food outlet, consider yourself lucky I'll pay for dinner. haha! If not, teh tarik ja la~

On this monitor.... no difference between DP or HDMI/DVI..... on higher end panels (10-bit) DP will provide additional bandwidth for more colour info (12 bit per channel ++), however not many GC support this. There is display limitation (colour bit rate) on Windows too.

Thanks bro fro the very clear answer. Now i have to find myself a very decent hdmi to dvi connector sweat.gif . Hope the setup works.

Very frustrating to work with a very small laptop screen. Sometimes need to open a few windows and have to scroll more. That's why i bought the monitor. biggrin.gif

Cheers.

Cheap.... probably TN 1920x1200 displays (becoming rare, 1920x1080p format being the most prevalent)..... not for others resolutions
