cheap 27" lcd would be the samsung p2770hd at 1.2k,but it's resolution is 1920x1080 and it uses a tn panel.so,it's bigger but the picture quality wouldn't be much better
or you can get the dell u2711h 27" lcd for rm2k+- at garage sales.it has a higher res of 2560x1440 and it uses an ips panel

My Dell XPS 16 laptop got DP input, that's why i ask. Not sure bout other laptop, though.

I just read at the link below that display port also carries audio data cool.gif . At first, i thought only hdmi carries audio data.

But anyway the monitor i'm buying doesnt have speaker on it.

ppl are really talking about the dell u2311h..
it uses the IPS panel and is not "that" expensive..
i recommend this based on user reviews, ratings and experiences shared by users here..

you can always use dvi.hdmi is juts dvi with audio.since the u2311h doesn't have speakers that's useless.for RM750+- it's totally worth it.

or you can get the Samsung B2330H,Last time i checked it's less than RM600.BTW,LED is just the backlight,it will make the LCD brighter, thinner and use less power but not necessarily better picture....

well, some people who bought really did get LCD with those gradient problem. But mine doesn't,hehe.IINM for the first batch it's pretty much a luck of draw. For the newer batches, can anyone else enlighten on this.

Hey bro,

How do you tilt the B2230H display? My client has one and having hard time to tilt it although the spec mentioned tilt. The demo unit I saw in LYP also can tilt but I dont know how. Scare broke the plastic stand.

@andrekua
are you sure the one you bought for your customer can be tilted 'cause i bought a 943bwx 2 years ago that states can be tilted in it's website but my particular unit can't be tilted due to having a simple stand only. Can anyone else clarify on this?I haven't messed around with one to know it can be tilted or not.

the main point here is what panel it uses..the acer s231hl,eventho it uses led backlight, it still uses the old TN panel..ppl say there is much difference between this tho types of panel (TN and IPS)
like the u2311h uses the IPS panel that delivers better color quality and sharper pictures..
this monitor u can get at dell website for rm669..there is a way to get the discount though (if not the price is rm729)
search for earlier posts in this thread n u can see how..

Yup,A00 batch, iinm it's the first batch. The price now is RM729 [-RM60 until this friday.].You can only buy it online though, shops don't sell these.
Don't bother with those dynamic contrast ratios, they're bullshit. For two TN panel LCD as the Acer and Samsung i recommend you see them in person as i can't seem to find any good reviews on them on the net.See which one you like.

The Dell uses an E-IPS panel, that's why it's better.IPS panels produce true to life colours and really wide viewing angle compared to generic TN panels found in the Samsung and Acer.An example of an IPS panel display that you can easily find is the iMacs, both the 21.5" and 27" uses IPS panels. However, generally IPS panels have slower response time [8ms vs 2-5ms],but personally i can't sense itmthey cost more and they have off-angle glowing.IMO,these are minor trade-offs compared to it's strengths. smile.gif
