I usually carry cash into Malaysia when I go home almost once a month. No admin fee and better FX rate can save a few hundred if more than 10K
*
Hard for me as I don't plan my sundry purchases. I know what I want to buy but I usually like to be flexible when (or which trip) I'll ultimately buy it. And I also don't like always having to walk around with lots of cash on me. Got enough things to think about already without having to worry about this as well.

How? Go earn a higher salary and make more money. That's the only way how.

America Co. Maybe working culture different. They don't believe in better productivity if you stay longer.

The higher you go, the more your work is defined by objectives / results - rather than time spent. Depending on one's aptitude for working smart, that can either be a boon or a curse.

There's also tradeoffs. You may have great standard office hours but when you travel, you can lose whole weekends each way. Conference call with the US, and the whole night is gone.

yup, thats what happen in American company, but i like chinamen style. like in HP last time, we work until 10-11pm everyday, there was once that we stayed back whole night without going home because too many machines to be repaired. enjoy those moments because can hang out together, and boss will be more flexible when u are not focusing 100% on ur work during ur office hours because u will finish it anyhow.

Depends on individual, some like to "lepak" in the office, others just treat it as a job and theres no point staying in the office if they dont have any urgent work to be done.

Plus you can work offsite with remote office systems. Chinaman sees your productivity go parallel with time, the more time you spend at the office automatically entitle you to the status of "hardworking". They dont usually take into account that their staff may goyang kaki and play facebook instead of starting to do the job on hand depending on the urgency of the task at hand.

If I recall correctly, money changer charged SGD 10 per transaction, but give you 0.01 better rate. So we can do the calculation from there.

E.g
SGDMYR 2.330
Cash SGD 10k = MYR 23.3k
TT SGD 10k @ 2.34 + SGD 10 = MYR 23.4k, rate = 2.337

I might be wrong.
*
IF the bank give you a better rate than outside money changer and does not charge you transaction fee(convert money + TT). I usually check online rate, then call a few usual money changer to offer before I change with them. Usually I can get better deal outside.

When withdraw from SG bank you can ask for 1000 note, easy to cary and hide.

If you take bus or train home, better don't carry alot of cash with you. I usually drive home directly, the saving can offset my toll fee, petrol fee...

I opened a Hong Leong bank account with only bank book no ATM card (must pay annual fee too, ~RM20?) So still have to carry cash when go out.
