if i wanna get a notebook, is it cheaper to get it in SG or MY? is Sim Lim Sq a good place for bargain?

p/s: im looking for a budget entry level notebook with 14" screen (less than SGD900)

Relatively the same, if you buy in malaysia and theres and issue with the laptop, you gotta go back to my just to claim warranty.

You can offset the cheaper price in malaysia when you pay for transport just to send it back for warranty.

FYI There is 3 different route for CW-3
Bukit Indah - Gelang Patah - Jurong East
Tun Aminah - Gelang Patah - Jurong East
Pekan Nenas - Gelang Patah - Jurong East

The Frequency of bus is every 15 minutes from morning 4:45am - 10:00am then every 30 minutes till evening

Wondering whether I should take my company's corporate plan for iPhone 4 or not... I get 20% off the published monthly rates, but the minutes seem quite low, especially the SMS part, only 500 per month whereas on Prepaid I get 50 free sms with every 5 sent.

But it seems like not worth it for heavy SMSer like me. How much they charge for international SMS anyway?

I bought my Asus laptop in MY and sent it to Asus SG for service. I'm not sure what's the detailed terms for international warranty, but didn't care so much. However, I really doubt if MY price really cheaper than SG price. For example, the model I bought is about RM200 lower price in MY, but the graphics processor is of older generation. If differences are subtle and not important it should be worthy to buy in MY.

Ok, I got a question rite here.

Any chance that I want to apply for PR but I dont want to contribute CPF.

Means I want a full pay. The employer portion I dont mind to go into CPF savings.

I am asking this because I am not staying long here, perhaps just 5 years and I do not intend to acquire a HDB unit. I wanted to apply for PR because it makes job hops easier as PR is more easier to apply for jobs compare to non-PR.

Unfortunately not. I read that it is mandatory to contribute to the CPF.

it is true

Gelang Patah consider outskirt of the town... basically, isolated from major city.. like Skudai or even JB

if u need to go JB city, u need to drive 1 hour even on the highway.

so, that's the reason why it is cheap.

You mean the Condo/Houses in Gelang Patah and not Singapore, right?

Oops sorry, did not see your last posting. Is there a shortcut or something like that to get to JB? Just curious, any amenities around Gelang Patah such as Jusco or Tesco?

Hi all,

Just a few questions. When you first look for accomodation in SG, how do you carry your deposit+advance+commission to SG?

Cash, Cheque or other alternative?

Isit true that, when you see a place and you like, you immediately need to pay those dep+adv+comm to book the place?

notworthy.gif

Also i think another forumer ask this question as well, do we need to provide the WP/EP photocopies to the agent?
What other documents?

What I did last time was to carry load of cash.. unfortunately. Just get ready 1 Month Deposit + First Month Rent + 1/2 Month Rent to Agent. For example, if you room is SGD400, then bring along SGD1000. Normally it's cash dealing as far as i know.

From my experience, if you like a place, and if you dont book it first, then someone else might come and grab it. It's normally based on first come first serve basis.

Yeah I did give my EP photocopies to the agent so that they can help to submit the forms, etc for processses with the HDB. Nevertheless I believe you might get your Pass a while longer if you just got a job in SG.

this is the normal practice but not really a must, pretty much depends on the owner. Many years back we managed to persuade the owner to deferred the deposit for the whole flat till probably the 3rd month + our company paid the 1st month rental for us rclxms.gif
