Anyway, getting back on track. Having my dir-615 replaced then writing a guide on how to get it working with your own hardware smile.gif It'll be up in a few days I guess
*
Thank you for your effort.

Hmm, are you saying that it is possible we can totally replace the DIR-615 with another router to plug in to the BTU unit and enjoy the internet (assuming that we dont wan to IPTV)?

With the 2ndary account on the dir-615, you can use the dir-615 as a vlan switch ._.

There's 2 ways to use the dir-615 in your 'custom' setup.. one is to use it as a wireless AP/switch. This still uses the dir-615 as the router and doesn't take any load off it. It's also the easiest to setup.

The second way is what I tested and confirmed yesterday, which is using the dir-615 as a vlan switch/bridge. It will perform the VLAN tagging only (putting very little if not no load at all on the dir-615) and enable you to use any router you want with Unifi.
*
The second way looks better.

New Unifi install policy to change the 'operator' password.. some people messaging me saying it doesn't work anymore ._.
*
Not only this.

I just got my Unifi installed today (Land).

Now I cant even access my router page, 192.168.0.1

1. I have tried using different PCs, different browsers, Different LAN port (1,2,3, not the IPTV (red)), all failed (add combination of all)

2. Ipconfig/all shows default gateway pointing to 192.168.0.1

3. Pinging to 192.168.0.1 show positive result.

Any expert here who can guide me thru to get access to the router page?

Is it possible to even lock us out of the router? The Router firmware is still 7.05

BTW, referring to: http://unifi.athena.my/index.php?option=co...id=49&Itemid=61

CODE
Once this is all done, enter your Unifi username and password into the web user interface of your own router (not the DIR-615). The mode should be Dynamic PPPoE (if you're on Unifi home packages) and it should be setup the same way you would setup your Streamyx/Jaring/Other ADSL connection. If you did everything properly, it will connect fine :)

What is the login and password for the PPPoE? Today, after they install, they only gave me the Wifi password, they din even give me the login and password for unifi email. I was told that the unifi email (login and password) was not the same in the Router (dlink 615). how true is it?

Thanks in advance

it is stated in the Unifi registration confirmation sheet when you first applied for Unifi at TM point. I have set up the Unifi login name and password based on that. Rizvanrp confirmed that for PPPoE the password is the one listed under the "High Speed Internet - Residential - xx Mbps" row.
*
is it (the PPPoE) the same login/password we use for the unifi email?

I don't use megaupload or rapidshare so I can't tell you. Youtube upload is definitely over 1.3MB/s, rapidshare from what I can see as a free user is only 200-300KB/s.

As for your own router/modem, it's what we've been discussing for the last 10 pages or so.. so you can just refer to that smile.gif

Added on June 13, 2010, 11:56 amAnyway just settled Lucas's problem. TM did not disclose his PPPoE pass and the router seems to be working fine but it was malfunctioning for some reason. Still on 7.05 firmware and default username/password combination, something could have happened when it went online.. who knows  whistling.gif

Thanks Riz for solving my problem.

Strange, i can access my router now, even with the WAN port connected to the FiberHome. (using the same PC this morning, i cant get access to 192.168.0.1)

@dick1971

Still having problems accessing your router?

I started the router without the WAN port plugged in, then I logged in and disabled the TR-069 feature + secured the other features.
*
yeah, i noticed that. Thanks a lot for the assistance. TM ppl will wonder why they cant connect to the router anymore. Backup-ing my router settings at the moment.

Wow, what assholes. Anyway, if the default gateway is the same but you cannot access the configuration.. its likely they may have changed the management port from TCP 80 to something else. Call them up and ask for the details. If they refuse to give you access to the unit, either just reset the router back to stock config (if you know how to reconfigure it) or use a port scanner on the router and check what ports are open.

And no, the webmail password is different from the PPPoE password. Both should be printed on your install slip though.

---

It seems that TM has upgraded their router firmware. Hardware box and stickers still say firmware 7.05 but it definitely is not 7.05 anymore.

Firmware 7.xx(?) port scan (new firmware)

As you can see, there's no http server banner anymore. Which means you cannot access your own router config. Furthermore, Lucas says they're not willing to give users their PPPoE user/pass combination anymore and you're forced to use a 8 digit pin combination on the back of the router as your wifi pass.

It looks like TM failed WPA security 101.. I wonder how long it would take to generate a rainbow table for an 8 digit wifi pin number. Furthermore, you won't be able to set port forwarding anymore. I also have no f***ing clue why there are random ports like POP and SQUID open.

I'll look into this soon. Its probably reversible smile.gif

eh i got confused a bit with Lucas's case..so do we still have the access to our router, and config stuffs like port forwarding or QoS and stuff...

Added on June 14, 2010, 12:05 pmneed to make up my mind soon...cos maybe this week imma terminate screamyx and get unifi...

stupid sh*t throttled my speed for so many weeks already, and till now also still no change..

for downloaders(i think i would be downloading ~100GB per month with 10M), izit advisable to change? and Gaming also, games like Team Fortress 2, L4D2, is the latency good?

also, i heard from previous IPTV beta tester(my friend is one) that his game will spike when the IPTV switches channel...does anyone face that with the actual IPTV now?
*
Maybe my case was isolated problem. Make sure during installation, they show you how to access the router. If they refused to do so (even after installation), you can refuse to sign the confirm installation form.

oh...i see...but can i obtain the "True Admin" account detail from them?
cos if cannot access the important settings like port setting..later they can just lock us off from anything but HTTP connection..that time we can really die...zzz
*
I think we are entitled to get full access of the router. They cant jst lock us out like that.

BTW, went to TM point to terminate my HomeLine + screamX. They wont allow me to terminate it until 30 June 2010............

I asked why, they say need to wait until UniFi billing date starts, which is 1st July 2010.

Then i ask, i wanna terminate homeline+screamx, whats the relation with UniFi? They could not answer me.

Which means, if i have Homeline + Screamx, but dont hv UniFi, i can terminate anytime, but once i subscribed to Unifi, i could only terminate it on 30 June 2010....

QUOTE(PGGTrader @ Jun 14 2010, 07:38 PM)
Fully agreed. TM is just trying to take us for a ride. Since our government give them the right to monopolize the business, they can do whatever they want. Look at what they are doing to us... We don't even have full access to our router and they even loaded a SSH Deamon in our router (according to rizvanrp). This is an invasion of privacy. How could they plan a back door in the hardware without the user's consent and even tried to hide it until rizvanrp discovered it. I am sure this would have brought about a big legal case and class action in other country, but what to do, we live in Malaysia.

For your info, if you have been using your Streamyx account for over 24 Months (Contract Period), you should be able to terminate it anytime, at least that's what i did. I got my Unifi on early June and terminated my Streamyx 2 days after. The reason they do not let you terminate might be that your 24 Months contract with Streamyx is still in force and Unifi will not start charging till July 10, that's why they don't allow you to terminate. But if you are sure you have already passed the Streamyx contract period, i would advice you to call TM again (Dial 100 on TM Landline), if they still refuse to terminate your streamyx, you better contact CfM or MCMC ASAP.

ps : Since TM No longer let user access the router, and the DIR-615 given is using a custom FW, what if something happen to the DIR-615 after 1 year warranty period ? Can we copy and load the FW from TM's DIR-615 and restore it to a DIR-615 we buy at computer shop ? Even if we are allowed to do that, what happen when DIR-615 is no longer on the market after 2 years or so ? What will happen then ?
*
Yes, my streamyx is way beyond the 24 months, i have this sCreamyx account when it was RM88 for 512Kb line and later on they upgraded it to 1Mb line@RM88 (that was quite a few years ago i guess, definitely more than 24 months). In other words, my Screamx or homeline is not bound under any contract.

same question i was about to post jst now, what happens after the 1 year warranty period expired for the Dir 615? We should be allowed access to Cheap alternatives of the Dir 615. Maybe TM will charge us expensively for a replacement of the DIR - 615 (after the one year warranty), and make some money from us.

i received that too. Check with them at TM point, they mention that they will courier it (t-shirt) to our house later (dunno how true is that).

I just got my UniFi VIP5 service. Installers took several hours, from 11am to nearly 6pm... Weren't willing to go into the attic, because it was dangerous and not part of their job description. To be fair, these guys aren't field technicians, but they were sent out anyway to help clear backlog.

My download speeds vary from around 4.5mbps to nearly 6mbps. Rapidshare premium gives me around 700Kbps which is very satisfying...

And those of you who got the T-Shirt offer, guess what they gave me... a keychain!
*
I managed to get them (TM technicians) to get up to the attic as i wanted the fiberhome and router to be placed on the second floor. At first they are not willing, as you mention, it could be dangerous and they might break something.

BTW. You have a nice download speed. They also gave a keychain, found in the orange box. They say the T-shirt will be courier to us.

We should start paying for unifi this month or next month?
Can i terminate my streamyx service now? How to terminate, do i call unifi line or streamyx..?
*
No matter when they let you terminate it, you should go down to your nearest Tm point and fill in the termination of services form (for streamyx and/or home-line). I dont think they will let you terminate it over the phone.

To those who experiencing Wifi issue with TM DIR-615:
Not sure this would work for you all, but I decrease the transmitting power to 50% and so far the router did not give me any problem with both wireless and wired connection for the pass 3 days 24x7. Just my 2 cents...
*
Thanks for sharing.

May you elaborate more on what you mean by "experiencing Wifi issue"?

Myself, i have been experiencing sudden disconnection from wireless connection, and reconnecting the wireless connection directly is not possible, have to restart the laptop, then reconnect it back.

My wired connection so far is ok, jst having problem on wireless. If the problem still persist, i may wanna try out your method by decreasing the transmitting power to 50%.

Thanks.

Finally got my VIP10 yesterday... I expected 2 or 3 ppl but instead a whole army of TM personnel came to my house, and most of them were sent for training purposes apparently. Anyway, the extra manpower seemed to help since it was all done in about 2 hours.

As expected, they refused to give me the router and PPPoE passwords, although the guy said it was a "temporary" measure. Thankfully, he was kind enough to spell out loudly the router password to his co-worker... while I was there! I eventually managed to fish out the PPPoE password with Wireshark.

Here's a question for Rizvan: I'm currently using my own custom router by following ur instructions, and everything's working fine except that I can't access the DIR-615 configuration page anymore (can't even ping the router)... is this normal? Is it possible to access the page without directly connecting to the router?

Oh, and one more thing in case nobody has mentiond it: IPTV sucks.
*
Yeah, same thing happen to me. They did not even give me the router and PPPoe Password, even if i requested for it. Thanks to Riz for retrieving the passwords for me. However, i would like to ask all unifi users, how many password we have?

1. Router access password
2. PPPoe Password
3. Streamyx Email password

4. Steamyx Zone password (i still dont hv this, is it same as the email password or??)

Thanks in advance.

There was no confirmation email or slip to me.

I jst wanna confirm is:

the streamyx zone login/password =

A. unifi email login/password or
B. PPPoe login/password or
C. it is independent on its own?
