With the 2ndary account on the dir-615, you can use the dir-615 as a vlan switch ._.

There's 2 ways to use the dir-615 in your 'custom' setup.. one is to use it as a wireless AP/switch. This still uses the dir-615 as the router and doesn't take any load off it. It's also the easiest to setup.

The second way is what I tested and confirmed yesterday, which is using the dir-615 as a vlan switch/bridge. It will perform the VLAN tagging only (putting very little if not no load at all on the dir-615) and enable you to use any router you want with Unifi.

New Unifi install policy to change the 'operator' password.. some people messaging me saying it doesn't work anymore ._.

it is stated in the Unifi registration confirmation sheet when you first applied for Unifi at TM point. I have set up the Unifi login name and password based on that. Rizvanrp confirmed that for PPPoE the password is the one listed under the "High Speed Internet - Residential - xx Mbps" row.

I don't use megaupload or rapidshare so I can't tell you. Youtube upload is definitely over 1.3MB/s, rapidshare from what I can see as a free user is only 200-300KB/s.

As for your own router/modem, it's what we've been discussing for the last 10 pages or so.. so you can just refer to that

Added on June 13, 2010, 11:56 amAnyway just settled Lucas's problem. TM did not disclose his PPPoE pass and the router seems to be working fine but it was malfunctioning for some reason. Still on 7.05 firmware and default username/password combination, something could have happened when it went online.. who knows

I started the router without the WAN port plugged in, then I logged in and disabled the TR-069 feature + secured the other features.

Wow, what assholes. Anyway, if the default gateway is the same but you cannot access the configuration.. its likely they may have changed the management port from TCP 80 to something else. Call them up and ask for the details. If they refuse to give you access to the unit, either just reset the router back to stock config (if you know how to reconfigure it) or use a port scanner on the router and check what ports are open.

And no, the webmail password is different from the PPPoE password. Both should be printed on your install slip though.

It seems that TM has upgraded their router firmware. Hardware box and stickers still say firmware 7.05 but it definitely is not 7.05 anymore.

As you can see, there's no http server banner anymore. Which means you cannot access your own router config. Furthermore, Lucas says they're not willing to give users their PPPoE user/pass combination anymore and you're forced to use a 8 digit pin combination on the back of the router as your wifi pass.

It looks like TM failed WPA security 101.. I wonder how long it would take to generate a rainbow table for an 8 digit wifi pin number. Furthermore, you won't be able to set port forwarding anymore. I also have no f***ing clue why there are random ports like POP and SQUID open.

I'll look into this soon. Its probably reversible

eh i got confused a bit with Lucas's case..so do we still have the access to our router, and config stuffs like port forwarding or QoS and stuff...

Fully agreed. TM is just trying to take us for a ride. Since our government give them the right to monopolize the business, they can do whatever they want. Look at what they are doing to us... We don't even have full access to our router and they even loaded a SSH Deamon in our router (according to rizvanrp). This is an invasion of privacy. How could they plan a back door in the hardware without the user's consent and even tried to hide it until rizvanrp discovered it. I am sure this would have brought about a big legal case and class action in other country, but what to do, we live in Malaysia.

For your info, if you have been using your Streamyx account for over 24 Months (Contract Period), you should be able to terminate it anytime, at least that's what i did. I got my Unifi on early June and terminated my Streamyx 2 days after. The reason they do not let you terminate might be that your 24 Months contract with Streamyx is still in force and Unifi will not start charging till July 10, that's why they don't allow you to terminate. But if you are sure you have already passed the Streamyx contract period, i would advice you to call TM again (Dial 100 on TM Landline), if they still refuse to terminate your streamyx, you better contact CfM or MCMC ASAP.

ps : Since TM No longer let user access the router, and the DIR-615 given is using a custom FW, what if something happen to the DIR-615 after 1 year warranty period ? Can we copy and load the FW from TM's DIR-615 and restore it to a DIR-615 we buy at computer shop ? Even if we are allowed to do that, what happen when DIR-615 is no longer on the market after 2 years or so ? What will happen then ?

The irony is I've been using unifi since April.

I just got my UniFi VIP5 service. Installers took several hours, from 11am to nearly 6pm... Weren't willing to go into the attic, because it was dangerous and not part of their job description. To be fair, these guys aren't field technicians, but they were sent out anyway to help clear backlog.

My download speeds vary from around 4.5mbps to nearly 6mbps. Rapidshare premium gives me around 700Kbps which is very satisfying...

To those who experiencing Wifi issue with TM DIR-615:
Not sure this would work for you all, but I decrease the transmitting power to 50% and so far the router did not give me any problem with both wireless and wired connection for the pass 3 days 24x7. Just my 2 cents...

I used to have the router hang up and wireless disconnection issue, now seems to be ok so far...

Anyway, maybe not many of you watch the IPTV, but is anyone having problem today for the IPTV? It gave some error code and message about contact service provider..?

Finally got my VIP10 yesterday... I expected 2 or 3 ppl but instead a whole army of TM personnel came to my house, and most of them were sent for training purposes apparently. Anyway, the extra manpower seemed to help since it was all done in about 2 hours.

As expected, they refused to give me the router and PPPoE passwords, although the guy said it was a "temporary" measure. Thankfully, he was kind enough to spell out loudly the router password to his co-worker... while I was there! I eventually managed to fish out the PPPoE password with Wireshark.

Here's a question for Rizvan: I'm currently using my own custom router by following ur instructions, and everything's working fine except that I can't access the DIR-615 configuration page anymore (can't even ping the router)... is this normal? Is it possible to access the page without directly connecting to the router?

Oh, and one more thing in case nobody has mentiond it: IPTV sucks.

Check your Unifi confirmation email for that.
For the password of Operator account, I just ask them and they gave it to me.
