The caps mentioned are specific to Unifi users only.

I have to see how they implement the cap. It's likely going to be at the PPPoE level (account level) since they wouldn't want to take in account IPTV or VOIP traffic.. you can easily bypass this but at the expense of others.

Uncapping has always been easy on Unifi and its still possible today.. but I'm not going to write a guide on this or tell anyone how to do it (even secretly) because its highly illegal. Even I don't use it myself because hell, it's pretty easy to spot a traffic spike from 5/10/20mbps to 100mbps+ on the ISP side. If you want to be banned from all TM services for the rest of your life I'm sure you'd be dumb enough to do this ._.

Hopefully, the cap won't be applied for traffic between Unifi users.. that way at least we can still share files with each other at full 5/10/20mbps without it adding to our total.

lately when im playing my ps3 online (using wifi), the connection seems to somehow disconnected by itself. either the signal drop or something. and even worse i can't reconnect back to psn straight away until i restart the ps3 or restart the router. even my laptop seems to have the problem last time but it didn't occur as frequent now after i lowered the transmitting power to 50%.

anyone having the same problem here?

Its normal on this router.. wifi connection drops and even breaks VPN connections. Even when you use the wired connection, when the router goes under heavy load it either locks up or starts dropping all your connections. The only way to really fix this problem is to swap the DIR-615 out with another proper router.

Lol trust me, its easier than uncapping cable modems. No TFTP required, no additional hardware.. just a Linux OS and 1 minute of your time smile.gif

Anyway, TM's also starting to charge for most of the IPTV channels or something right? No wonder they were so persistent in locking users out of using their own hardware.

Last 2 weeks in my place TM Agent open a booth for registration unifi.

I've asked them a few questions:-

1) Do TM really won't cap the download = TM will cap according to your subscribe i.e 60GB when you download files and will not download the normal surfing bandwidth... hmm.gif is it true?!

2) What happens if i register after 30 June 2010 = The agent said i need to pay RM1000-00 for deposit and to pay the installer RM???... NO MORE FREE as for now PROMOTION... been told by a few LYN here they mention the promotion had been extended till the end of year... i'd tried to cal unifi CS .. all that i can hear is answering machine told me to hold on for CS... rclxub.gif doh.gif.. any of you guys knew about this promotion

Any of you guys can help me? thank you. notworthy.gif

Hey guys, i seems to be having problem connecting to legitimate site such as www.axis.com (IP Camera Company). My browser show connected to server and waiting for reply but then it never load. A few of other legitimate web site also got blocked / cannot access, but once in a while it work. Are you guys experiencing the same problem ? Is it specific to Unifi or Streamyx also affected ? I used to visit all those site when i had my streamyx last month but now it work intermittently on Unifi. Sadly i have already terminated my Streamyx early this month (Over contract period) so i cannot test. I tested on my DiGi 3G and it work.

1) for now the cap is suspended...but one of the forumers said CS told him..it is going to be implemented in july....

2) after june....they will start charging installation fee...and everything else..but deposit cant be RM1000..its too much to start with..if they extend it..they should announce it..but wait for the new exchanges to be activated and see how..

I have just being invited to this event

TM EXPANDS UNIFI HIGH SPEED BROADBAND (HSBB) SERVICES TO 18 MORE EXCHANGES

Telekom Malaysia Berhad ™ will be holding a briefing and service showcase to social media influencers to mark its high-speed broadband (HSBB) project’s on-track rollout to 18 more exchanges nationwide.

This follows the service launch in the four initial areas of Shah Alam, Subang Jaya, Bangsar, and Taman Tun Dr. Ismail earlier this year on 24 March 2010.

With the continued expansion of TM’s UniFi service coverage, more Malaysians will be able to enjoy HSBB triple-play services comprising voice, data and IPTV including areas beyond the Klang Valley.

Dato’ Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa, Group Chief Executive Officer, TM and Ahmad Azhar Yahya, HSBB Programme Director, TM will be present at the briefing and showcase.

I shall report what is the latest info about UniFi after this even on July 2nd

It seems that Maxis is also rolling out their own HSSB. Any info on their service yet? I think it might be more expensive than TM but hopefully the packages offered will be more attractive, in terms of speed and cap.
