Hi guys,

pardon me if my question had been asked before.

Last 2 weeks in my place TM Agent open a booth for registration unifi.

I've asked them a few questions:-

1) Do TM really won't cap the download = TM will cap according to your subscribe i.e 60GB when you download files and will not download the normal surfing bandwidth... hmm.gif is it true?!

2) What happens if i register after 30 June 2010 = The agent said i need to pay RM1000-00 for deposit and to pay the installer RM???... NO MORE FREE as for now PROMOTION... been told by a few LYN here they mention the promotion had been extended till the end of year... i'd tried to cal unifi CS .. all that i can hear is answering machine told me to hold on for CS... rclxub.gif doh.gif.. any of you guys knew about this promotion

Any of you guys can help me? thank you. notworthy.gif

brian & leon,

Many thanks guys for the information.

Anyway guys have a few question again before i proceed to Unifi...

1) Since part of you have the unifi... the monthly bill according to the package let say RM149, i need to pay monthly at that price rite? but if make call to mobile phone it will show the RM149 plus the mobile phone charges... is there any hidden charges will incurred?

2) Can i register Unifi by phone instead of going to TMpoint? Is it legal by doing that since no proper documentation..

Sorry for my ridiculous question.. notworthy.gif

1. I'm not sure about hidden charges. But I don't think there will be any (if there's any, you should argue with TM).

2. Yes you can. I registered my Unifi thru phone call only (1-300-88-1222), didn't have to go any TMpoint to register.
Then the proper documentation will be provided upon installation.

Darth Vader,

many thanks for the info.. i guess that i'll proceed with the Unifi@RM149-00, anyway all the password been given by Unifi we can change it later rite or we can do it when technician came to installed?

You're welcome.
About the password, IINM currently we can't change the pre-defined Unifi account and email password.
I think if we want to change the Unifi password, we'll have to ask the technician / call CS and to change it (unlike Streamyx, we can change those passwords thru the website).
Only router access password we could change.

p/s: However I might be wrong. unsure.gif

Welcome to the club! haha.

Darth Vader,

Thanks again for the infos.

I've called CS TMUnifi and they informed the technician will come and do the installation by next Saturday, hopefully everything goes well...

Oh yeah beside the gadget packages that Unifi provides do the installer/technician promote the Wi-Fi USB Adaptor (RM40-00 is it consider cheap?) or BPL, before or after the installation?... saying bla bla bla ask some kind of soft force you to buy those optional equipment?

Thanks... notworthy.gif

Hi guys,

Pardon me as i can't browse from page to page (read a few pages but to 87 pages.. my eyes already masuk pasir)..

Oh yes, i manage to get the installation for Unifi VIP5 last Saturday@Mutiara Damansara, anyway a few questions that i wanted to know (maybe some of it it's already being replied):-

1) Do the RG unit didn't come with stand? I can use the BTU/RG USB port to generate power for the extra fan (like the fan for laptop) to avoid a bit heat..

2) I only manage to get download up to maximum 2Mbps according to IDM status, is it consider the best or not? if not how should i do about it? I've tried the speedtest.net and TM speedometer stated there can reach >60000 download but when download file only can get 1.5mbps - 1.8mbps.. hmm.gif

3) Now i still have my Streamyx 1Mbps, the CS Unifi told me i need to terminate the line as TM only approved 1 line per house...so i can go any TMPoint to terminate the line rite? Do i need to pay anything? Bring back anything to them? Any TMPoint number that u guys know so i can contact..

4) I've read somewhere here mentioned that we can reset the settings as it says TM can monitor what we have dll or what so ever activities.. is it true?

Have more question to ask but yet can't get time to play with the BTU and RG units... will post again when it cross my mind... thanks in advance for the replied to all.

I try to answer some of ur question:

1. My RG unit does not come with the stand.

2. From where did u download the files? The download speed is varying depend on the location of the server.

3. I still have my previous fix line. The unifi cs give u false information. Every house can have as many line as they want as long they pay the bill.

4. This one I'm not sure which u are referring.

silenthunter,

1. Glad that yours same with my unit, i thought that i same with my wireless router since it came from the same co. (D-Link)

2. Actually i don't know which server that i go thru.. in fact i try every single link that i found (one by one at a time) if you mentioned speedtest.net or speedometer it was KL server and Singapore server (maybe tonite i can post the image of testing) any server that you can recommend?

3. Damn it CS, screwed me believed her... anyway need to terminate my Streamyx line or not i need to pay almost RM250-00 per month..

Thanks...

Hi there and welcome to the land of HSBB (its impressive but the novelty wears out).

I will try to answer your questions.

  1. I don't understand what RG stands for. Someone else will have to help you on that

  2. It really depends on the server you are downloading from. I suggest you visit http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1479905 and try to download something from there. You should reach your max speeds. However, it will dependant on the person transferring the file to you.

  3. As far as I know, you don't have to terminate the line. I have 3 lines in my house right now. 2 normal and 1 Unifi. But if you do want to terminate, go TMPoint or better yet, call up their help line to get clarification.

  4. This can get a little technical so I'll just post the TL;DR version.

    • The router has a hidden administrator account with raised privileges.

    • To secure, you will need to log in with that account and change its password

    • At the same time, you should disable the telnet and SSH options

*
farkinid,

1) Residential Gateway a.k.a Wireless Router, as i have this brand also it comes with stand (connect for Streamyx) anyway it same with other for this RG and no stand provided... ekekekek

2) Read about the DC++Hub but it looks like you need to share something, my problem is my network only online when i back home till next morning...i may get others angry if i'm not sharing things there beside upload... do they allowed me if want to test my dll?

3) Again i being totally screwed, i was thinking to get the Unicool plan so wanted to keep my old number but they say cannot... damn i wants to call back the CS and wallop me for cheating.. . anyway do you have the TMPoint Phone no?

4) Thanks for the info..

Thanks...

Went to Wangsa Maju TmPoint to apply for Unifi but can't. The reason?

They don't have the registration form for Unifi yet /facepalm. He even asked me to go to Setiawang/Ampang Tmpoint.

I just wanted to hit the guy's face (stupid customer service) but lucky there's a small booth beside Wangsa Walk where you can register for Unifi.
*
Like silenthunter said better call Unifi and check with them your area got Unifi or not if yes they will say "Would like to subscribe now sir?"... FYI i subscribe by phone and walla!! at my home already got Unifi... my neighbor also register Unifi by booth at my house but as to-date not yet being install...kihkihkihkih... and to make sure if you subcsribe by phone make sure your details is correct because they will forward all your details by email for your approval and confirmation.. wink.gif

Infront of Menara Alpha also got UniFi booth..or you can simply subscribe by calling UniFi CS..I subscribe using that way..
*
me too subscribe by phone, so easy... thehehe... need not to go to TMPoint... now was hoping my bill will sent correctly to me as the Unifi CS really mess up my address even though 3 times i asked them to amend my billing address... doh.gif

bro,

i want to ask about the IPTV. is it really free (that means cover by the monthly package, not paying extras) or you have to top up extra money for it?

does it have the standard free channels like tv1,2,3, 8tv, etc ?

TM provide h/w to connect the unifi to the tv?

thanks bro
*
as Yoci said, yes it free..the only thing that you need pay or buy is Video On Demand (VOD Channel) it way by POINT system...needs to check again with Unifi CS how to buy the point as for the time being Unifi gave 100 point free and still not using it gonna wait until i bought the LED TV... ekekekeke

QUOTE(Sitting Duck @ Jul 14 2010, 01:32 PM)
Hi guys,

Since that the TM technician need to pull the cable to the house, my question are:

1. do they need to hack the house wall to pull the cable into the house?
2. can the modem, equipment, etc be place in the master bedroom where all my computer are?
Still thinking of whether to apply unifi.. worried about the bandwidth cap. sad.gif
*
bro,

if you are extremely demand on streaming video or dll... i think it worth it to subscribes and if you do so "Welcome to Unifi Club" biggrin.gif
