Okay guys, why don't we use some plain english.. After reading all these, I feel like I'm going to build a satellite for NASA with 90% unknown terms you guys use.

However I'm loving the knowledge you guys are sharing.. Just don't leave us (the not average) so far behind. We are learning, we'll be there soon. wink.gif

Anyway some of us really need a plain english answer to some of these major concerns:-

1) Is it possible to get rid completely of TM D-Link Router DIR-615

Meaning:- FiberHome(White box) --> Own router (D-Link DIR-825 or Belkin N1 vision, etc,) ---> PC & IPTV

If not what are the requirements to make it work?

2) I also believe you guys also mentioned about VLAN, meaning fo we have to get a router for that has this feature? Can you list few available options?

3) Also, some of the method shown that we still need to use TM D-Link router, making it as a bridge and then connect it to our own router. Why is this?

4) Can someone guide us the possible way to use internet and IPTV together by getting rid of TM D-Link router. Steps with gui abit, so we know what to set what not to set.

Thank you SIFUS.

Added on June 23, 2010, 2:41 pmAlso i forgot to mention,

5) If we want to use POE switch, who should connect to who now? Mind elaborate to us on how to do so? U see, if we cant simplify this to a single or easier connecting method, it means we have to use 4 devices................... (Horror case for my IP camera side business)

FiberHome (white box) ---> TM D-Link router ----> Our own router ---> POE switch.

This is crazy.. I'm starting to hate TM net or telecom, limiting that limiting this, block that block this, no freedom at all...

Wanna ask if changing the b/g/n to just b/g helps improve the wireless speed?

However I'm loving the knowledge you guys are sharing.. Just don't leave us (the not average) so far behind. We are learning, we'll be there soon. wink.gif

Anyway some of us really need a plain english answer to some of these major concerns:-

1) Is it possible to get rid completely of TM D-Link Router DIR-615

Meaning:- FiberHome(White box) --> Own router (D-Link DIR-825 or Belkin N1 vision, etc,) ---> PC & IPTV

If not what are the requirements to make it work?
It's not easy. And you need a very specific router for this.. a commercial home router will not work in most cases.

QUOTE(Shazlee69 @ Jun 23 2010, 02:10 PM)
2) I also believe you guys also mentioned about VLAN, meaning fo we have to get a router for that has this feature? Can you list few available options?
RouterBOARD routers (not easy to configure) or routers with dd-wrt firmware support (though you'll only be able to configure Internet access, IPTV most likely will not work for you). You can also look into pfSense or Endian based hardware appliances though even they don't fully support the IPTV. Reason its so difficult is because TM has special software in their DIR-615 just for the IPTV. If you only want Internet access, then it's not too bad.

QUOTE(Shazlee69 @ Jun 23 2010, 02:10 PM)
3) Also, some of the method shown that we still need to use TM D-Link router, making it as a bridge and then connect it to our own router. Why is this?
The Internet and IPTV connection must be made through those special VLAN IDs. The DIR-615 hardware is *reusable* as a VLAN bridge so I wrote a guide on how to do that. It's the most cost effective method as everyone is given the DIR-615 for free.

QUOTE(Shazlee69 @ Jun 23 2010, 02:10 PM)
4) Can someone guide us the possible way to use internet and IPTV together by getting rid of TM D-Link router. Steps with gui abit, so we know what to set what not to set.
You have to buy special hardware for this. Either a smart switch, a pure linux router (think desktop PC running a linux OS with 3 network cards) or a dd-wrt based router with port + tag based VLAN support (which is hard to find). Why do you want the DIR-615 out of your network so badly anyway? When you put it in VLAN bridge mode, its operating at the Ethernet level and can't even see your Internet traffic anymore. It's very hard to write a generic guide for hardware out there.. there's about a 100 ways to achieve what you want and the DIR-615 can already do it smile.gif

Yeap, should be like that if your IP cameras need POE.

I just updated the site with the details.

Anyone can register for an account there, but you must request via the comment in any news article post asking for VIP access.

Riv tested it the other day, he could get like 500 kb/s

If got an anime request can also put in the site comment.

DDOS is not depending on the speed of attacker. But it's based on the number of Computers attacking a single server.

Request also must made from a Computer right?
If you trying to DDOS, confirmed that you are controlling tons of computer at once and attack into victim's IP.
No one or hacker will be so stupid to use a single Computer to do tons of request into victim's IP.

Perhaps you will just hang your computer rather than able to DDOS someone's computer or server. Lmao

DDOS Failed.

There's two attack vectors for a DDOS but all involve multiple PCs (hence the 'distributed'). You can choose to make multiple requests (which will fill up a target's connection buffer causing it to refuse new connections) or you can saturate the target's bandwidth.. or both. A single PC can also 'DDOS' a target if it has sufficient bandwidth (with the option to re-route traffic through multiple hosts to hide his identity or not bother at all).. but in this day and age most people just use botnets for this purpose since its the most effective method.

Anyway, DC++ hub anyone? D: lol

Try now, it should work.

I'm using buddy press theme.

The reason the log in didn't work is because i have a captcha plugin. So when you click log in on main website, it fail. But it should redirect you to a login page that had the captcha.

Anyway i disabled it for now doh.gif

Theres also an option now to upload and use your own avatar. Even if the picture is big, it will let you crop it nod.gif

They did not send me the confirmation email either. I wanted my Unifi email password so I called them up
and the dude told me to look at my confirmation email which I never received. Anyway, I got the email soon
after that and got the shock of my life when I saw that the email password is the same as the PPPoE
password... major security FAIL. If that's not bad enuff, they don't even let you change the passwords.

Don't know bout streamyx zone, but u can try the Unifi email login/pass and see.

Yeah i just noticed. I tried making a dummy account but i also never received the mail :/ so the account doesn't go active.

If got any coding sensei who can help regarding this, that would be great icon_question.gif

Anyway for now, just pm me which email you signed up under and i will put a dummy password. And you can change it yourself.
