hey guys ! i wanna get the mbp.. but im torn between this two

1. mbp 13 2.66GHz (high spec of 13" )

OR

2. mbp 15 2.4GHz (lowest spec of 15 ")

my budget just between this two only..i cant afford to go upper more due to limitation of budget. Btw, how bout the software and stuff ? does this software such as final cut already installed or have to get it separate?

What do you guys reckon?Which one i should get ?any extra stuff that i should get aswell ?

thanks !

Get the MBP 15 2.4 ! Not to mention that the screen is bigger but it is a lot!, i mean a lot faster compared the high MBP 13 2.26. Besides 15 is using the i5 unlike the ic2 for MBP. The only advantage for a MBP 13" is its easier to carry around tongue.gif

MacBook Pro (15-inch 2010)
Intel Core i5 M 520 @ 2.40GHz scored 4806 while

MacBook Pro (13-inch 2010)
Intel Core 2 Duo P8800 @ 2.66GHz scored 3739

MacBook Pro (13-inch 2009)
Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 @ 2.53GHz scored 3561

1K+ difference in terms of $$ and score!
If $$ isn't an issue then I'll go for the MBP 15".

guys, my unibody macbook pro(2008)'s battery start swollen. not much but it is causing some prob. after remove the battery i can see the battery is not flat anymore.
it causes my trackpad to become unresponsive sometimes, having difficulty to click on the trackpad bcoz the increase of the battery size underneath the trackpad.

is there any ways to prevent it from swollen anymore?

my current battery info
battery-loadcycles: 64
age of my mac: 18months
current battery capacity: 90%

It's up to you, you want a higher spec with small screen or lower spec with bigger screen?

Final Cut, is it Final Cut Studio? You got to get it separately.

There is no way for the battery to be swollen. The reason the battery start to swell is due to the lithium ion in the battery. Rather for it to be expose or leak from the battery, the design of the battery makes the battery to swell.

I would recommend you to change the battery, if not, when the battery swell until the point it stuck in your macbook, you will cry because it will not be cover by warranty either!

nope there is no way you could do that, but your battery is quite old and has pass its one year warranty, what you could do is to call applecare and ask them about it, but tough luck you can only call em next monday. worst come to worst you have to get a new one.

Hi everyone,
i might be off topic but i need help.... i got a 17'' macbook pro unibody (early 2009) and my lcd is needs replacement (ink leak).. obviously care does not cover me cause it was accidental damage.. apple wants to charge me rm 3500 for a replacement.... oh god i cant afford rm3500 now and its ridiculous as a new 13'' mbp is the same price of the repair.... anyone can help.... any cheaper way without losing out on quality

Call into Apple to see what they can do.

Your option, replace the LCD ( not really recommended )

or

Buy a new machine instead..!

he did indicate that it is accidental damage cause by him, human error is not covered under warranty. And there are still many people like Wei shod third party servicing, it doenst have to necessarily be a new buy.

Not sure since I'm not into photography/videography. Based on your siggy and you question look like you are into those. IMHO maybe you can get mbp15 instead. Bigger screen since you need those plus maybe (I'm not sure) your program will definitely take advantage of those extra gc. It's all a matter of what you want in it in the end. I chose 13 2.53 last time simply because it perfectly fits my bill of usage plus the most important factor of being small and lightweight powerhouse.
My bill: watch movie, hulu, surfing, IM, some programs on terminal, normal games like Civs, Ms office, vmware with few OSes etc. Nothing fancy but most important is small lightweight powerhouse for my need

as others have mentioned, it's better that u let us know what are you going to do with it. if it's for video editing than definitely go for the 15" due to the faster speed and bigger screen. Final cut does not come free though. here are the prices: http://store.apple.com/my/search?find=fina...mco=MTA4MTkyMjY

what WILL come free though is iMovie. u should play around with it first, it's pretty good. at least it should be a decent alternative until you can get a copy of final cut

extra stuff, how much extra budget are we talking about here? smile.gif

Same here on Macbook 13" Late 2008. I think those batch got battery problem but Apple just ignore it. Have read through Apple Discussion Forum. Mostly got same problem. They know product defect but NO ACPP then NO Changing. Mine on 30 cycle only and hold 90% power and keep decreasing.

you do understand the battery swelling is a standard safety feature on lithium ion polymer batteries right? They expand so that it doesnt leak or explode, it doenst necessarily mean its problematic and not may manufacturers warrant you after the first year since its a consumable part.
