i mean has any hardware/software been removed/downgraded?

Better integrated Graphic card, that was purportedly made by nvidia for apple only. More RAM,bigger HDD,Momentum Scrolling on the trackpad,THE MINIDP supports audio and video now. Yep and thats pretty much it. The reason why core I3 wasnt introduced is because Nvidia are not allowed to put the core I series to be placed in Nvidia motherboards with Nvidia IGPs.

Hey guys & girls, can someone tell me currently I'm using the Late 2009 Macbook White Unibody, is it possible for me to upgrade to this casing? user posted image
*
dude seriously how can upgrade BMW 3 series to 5 series? And Macbook Alu was sold concurrently with the macbook White, subsequently the Macbook Alu became the now known Macbook Pro 13 doh.gif

Just the casing of the unibody, what if the Macbook's Unibody got broken parts, surely they have extra casing for replacement. Might never know they have for the Macbook White  drool.gif  drool.gif  drool.gif
*
even if they had that, the term unibody will kill you already, the motherboard for the macbook white and the macbook alu so different, the battery also is bigger compared to macbook alu and is non removable, the screen is enclosed in a glass casing on the mb alu, all this differences cannot be solved. theres no way you can take all of 3 seres innards and put it into a 5 series.

I guess the 15" one should have no problem. I am using the 13" most basic one(2.4 GHZ) and aperture 3 runs very smooth
Very happy.  rclxms.gif

I think you will get yours later today tongue.gif Just be on guard for the DHL van. HAHA
*
serious arr, hows RAW editing, good or not? no lags or anything? cause in my case its rither the entry level 13 or the high end 15, the price difference between the lower end 15 and the high end 15 is not tht far,edu price tht is.

What does auto enroll mean to you? is it that hard to understand that the warranty by default has been extended to 3 years on your mac? check here, https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do

Is the ACPP worth getting from AppleStore for RM749 (edu price) or should wait around for some offers by resellers?
*
resellers in Malaysia cannot reduce the price of ACPP,even if they did they would try to maximize their profits by bundling togather with a mac purchase from their store.

QUOTE(Ojimaru @ May 1 2010, 07:52 PM)
Mac OSX is not virus-free or has flawless security.

As for Windows-based infections, it depends on the nature of the virus. E.g. if it exploits an EXE executable, then it won't affect OSX because the latter runs on a completely different framework. In most cases, your OSX system is safe.
*
hmm, am i mistaken or was there a virus in the wild already??????? oh on a lighter note teh bootcamp partition separates the two partition so that windoze dont screw up the mac partition, its always the case isnt it?. Ok heres the thing remember in OSX not to put yourself as an ADMIN, make a separate Admin account and relegate your primary as a standard user, just in case someone wants to remotely control something.

This is a great tip if you don't trust the user to not open random attachments, visit unverified links, install random crap, etc. It's inconvenient, but safe.

There have been many security exploits for the OSX in recent years, mostly from Safari. But definitely nothing compared to Windows, of course.
*
oddly though they seem to patch em security holes faster biggrin.gif

You should try and give the applecare a call and see if it possible to change without paying as last time macbook white has this issue and they offered free replacement... Im sure everyone would suggest this way as this is the only way..
*
this is a wrong assumption, it was only the Macbook 2,1 that had this issues especially the A1181 batteries, cause mine fell under this, the exchange program has ceased last year July. By the way the battery getting swollen after 3 years, is considered okay, its a fail safe so that the battery after full consumption will not leak or explode, and again warranty for battery is 1 year aka 300 charge cycles, better get a new battery with a full year warranty.

Yep, apps will sync in your mbp but you need to authorize your mbp. Once authorize then it will detect that you have all apps that are not in your itunes and it should be copied over

Might be possible as in slightly better price (maybe in range of 100-200 max) or freebies. Alot of places offer greater flexibility if you want to pay by cash in sense of bargaining tool
*
you sure about that ah? you do realize Apple Malaysia impose strict guidelines and they monitor all resellers inorder to control the price, plus dude you dont earn much profit selling macs, teh margin is just 300-600 for some macs especially portables, minus 100-200 no need to pay rentlah right or workers pay? Bargaining by paying cash is only on the PC frontier.

oo hehe no no… the full name of SL is "Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard". before this was "Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard", "Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger", and so on. so the next OS will be something like "Mac OS X 10.7 [some huge cat's name]" tongue.gif
yes all stores have the same price for new units. probably some stores can give u freebies n stuff. cheapest way is to get from online store with education discount and you must make sure you are a STUDENT, but no freebies la (unless u consider shipping as a freebie tongue.gif)
*
let me fix your comment, we dont more people abusing this.

not necessarily student...
the compression depends on what file are u zipping. for already compressed formats lke JPEG, MP3, very hard to compress further. this is true on any operating system
browser depends on individual. i dun really like opera's interface, but the Turbo mode is very useful when i cant get good internet connection. i prefer firefox due to extensions, but chrome beats vanilla firefox IMO biggrin.gif plus, firefox 3.7 should have sandboxing feature like chrome

Plus educators but most importantly for students.

Oh the MBW already been upgraded?

@Suk I think its possible as one of the forumer did purchase MBP 13" one day before the new launch of MBPs... But his case is that Apple called him and tell him that it will be changed to the latest one.. Im not sure about your friends but definitely give a call to apple store.. Im sure they should give it to you..

Added on May 18, 2010, 6:35 pm@ujoewong Ah... Saw it already... So its back to normal again.. haha.. MBW and MBP only difference is alluminium and polycarbonate body..

Added on May 18, 2010, 6:39 pmOh and RAM and SD slot which is better on the MBP 13" other than that its the same..
*
Let me tell you why the MBP will always be a better priced machine?
- external battery indicator
- infrared sensor for apple remote
- SD card slot
- FW800
- Aluminium case wont get scratches easily compared with glossy plastic case
- backlit keyboard
- More rigid and strong compared to plastic
- higher grade panel
- no discolouring white to yellow
- Lighter MBP
- up to 8GB memory

That my friend is worth RM500 bucks

Ugh, new MBW only RM3299, and the previous unibody's price is gonna drop. I bought mine earlier this year ... SIGH.

Anybody knows the new price for the old unibody MBW?

*disappointed*
*
ah please get over yourself you have been using the MBW for almost 5 months now, imagine the DELL users who have to face the weekly or monthly model refreshes. Technology changes that doesnt mean your MBW suddenly cant perform because of a newer machine or the people who buy nokia phones, theres a few models every month. Technology products depreciate never appreciate and thats a fact.

I agree on that too.... Thats why people should not rush and do some research before actually buying the item. Ive been researching on Macbook for almost 2 months before actually purchasing it...

@static Eh you going to get another MBW or you just wanna compare the price between the new and old...
*
i feel 5 months is fair amount of usage and the need to complain is mute as the macbook white was launched in october, thats like almost 9-8 months, very reasonable upgrade IMHO.
