QUOTE(Striderman @ Sep 20 2010, 11:27 AM) Lightjunk, get your self a full size folder! Striderman, I think that's enough for now. Full size folder will need full size wallet I like all especially the Poliwog. All passed through customs without a hitch. Thanks to your advise. Not to forget hotrat1 and susuman. Hey, I saw a few Katanas here. I asked the shop and said they were replicas. They were really sharp though. Replicas costing RM1600 - RM2600. Imagine the real stuff. They'll cost from that to FAR more than that, only in USD instead of RM, depending on the maker and steel used. If you're looking for a real Japanese katana made of tamahagane by a master smith then be prepared to pay the rough equivalent of a car. xD

Wooww..you guys really been at it, really nice clear pictures...i guess all the beamshots really paid off..nice macro and closeup, good lighting.. If you keep it up might rival CPF some day..very nice This morning i realize the bezel on one of my flashlight wasn't properly fitted, it didn't sit snugly on, has uneven gap. I was advised to use a rubber mat to twist it open. I has to place the bezel plushly on rubber mat, apply a little pressure and twist. It didn't work. I didn't have a good enough rubber mat. It just made nice donut shapes . So i tried with double sided tape...finally managed to open it. I did learn something. With the battery tube intact it made it a little tighter since its pushing against the contact inside the module. Well i'm sure its old news but just wanna share.. It didn't bother me that much except that the uneven bezel sitting made the beam slightly off center. This post has been edited by metalmania: Sep 24 2010, 06:56 PM

Getting Started

|
Hi guys and all flashlight sifus, I need a recommendation for a flashlight. My requirements are a either a 2xCR123 or single 18650 cell light.
My main requirement is throw, throw, throw! It's for use in my boating hobby.
I've been researching on a Tiablo A9, but have found out that the new R5 pills are inferior to the older q5s in terms of outright throw. The Deree DBS with the R2 is still available locally by gadgethighway, but the the price of the light with the aspherical head is out of my price range. And lastly the luma power D-mini VX with the teleforce head, but again, it's unavailable to purchase with the r2 pills anymore. It's all the R5s and they're no longer good throwers.
So guys, if you can point me in the right direction for a good throwing light for my requirements. Oh btw, I very much prefer to purchase only with local stores and would prefer lights that are factory options, not modded ones. My budget is around 350 for the light and maybe an additional 100 for a throwing head for models with such options.
Thank you.

Extreme throwers can be had, but at extreme prices...
