Hi all,

I've changed the topic to Panasonic Viera TV Fan Club.

So we can discuss all Viera TV regardless of year and models.

Nah. Just grab the GT30 series for infinite black 2 panel. I think the price for next year 2011 will likely drop to around V20 series pricing since Panasonic wants 3D to be more mainstream.

Edit: Added the 2 to infinite black.

But seriously on 3D though, I've read somewhere that it is recommended to defer buying 3D devices so soon.

Apparently, the technology is still advancing on a monthly basis. Now the buzzword is glass-less 3D i.e. without the need to wear 3D goggles e.g. the upcoming Nintendo 3DS (although release is now delayed due to problems).

But hey, if the GT30's PQ is better for 2D (infinite black 2) and the price is around the same or just slightly higher than the current V20, why not?

the GT30 is a 3D plasma. with the current pricing that panasonic is implementing for their malaysian set, hard to believe a 3D capable GT30 would come close to the (current) non 3D capable V20.
i reckon the current 50" VT20 is selling for how much currently? RM15k? sounds like impossible for another 50" 3D capable set to sell at 1/3 of the current price.

Before buying 3D and especially with kids at home, best do some research on health effect. IMO, should proceed with caution.

I dont think watching 3D all the time is healthy, but once in a while for certain movies...oklah tongue.gif

The TV mode can be switched to 2D as well....

Apart from the 3D tech, the other very expensive technologies in the VT series is the infinite black pro and the ARC filter that sets it apart from the GT series.

Just as a rough guesstimate, based on actual current US Amazon retail prices:

- the 50G is about 20% lower than the 50GT. For the 42", the price difference between a G and GT is just 5%!
- the 50G is about 70% lower than the 50VT

As you can see, the 3D tech really doesn't cost that much more relative to the infinite black pro technology. The other factor that could be inferred here is that Panasonic is massively pushing 3D as mainstream through the pricing.

Hi all,

I just got my 50u20k panny plasma yesterday and would really appreciate it if someone could help me out with some calibration numbers. Have really no idea where to start but factory settings seems to be not so nice when background is bright. Colours seem to run a bit.
