QUOTE(paskal @ Jan 9 2011, 06:21 AM) the GT30 is a 3D plasma. with the current pricing that panasonic is implementing for their malaysian set, hard to believe a 3D capable GT30 would come close to the (current) non 3D capable V20. i reckon the current 50" VT20 is selling for how much currently? RM15k? sounds like impossible for another 50" 3D capable set to sell at 1/3 of the current price. 3D plasma price for last year's series, I think they are clearing stock make way for this year's series
about effect on children eyes by watching 3D, source:NYT QUOTE Dr. David Hunter, professor of ophthalmology at Harvard University and ophthalmologist-in-chief at Children’s Hospital Boston, added that there appeared to be "scant evidence" that 3D image technology-- which is appearing in theaters, HDTVs, Blu-ray players and even the PlayStation 3-- can hurt eye development. The only real possible side-effect from watching 3D movies or playing a 3D games would be fatigue from the brain trying to "process a ton of information." The thing with medical research is they are often conflicting.
BERKELEY, CA (KGO) -- It appears entertainment can be bad for our health. A UC Berkeley vision scientist (Professor Martin Banks) is calling attention to what he calls "3D fatigue." His research shows if 3D movies or television is done badly, it strains the viewer's eyes.
I would think anything that increases eye strain is a bad thing. My opinion still stands when it comes to young kids. While future study may say there are no risk, is it worth risking your kid's eyes until everything settles down?

BTW, had anyone successfully connected via wifi on the V series. May I know which branch of adapter are you using? Currently I have only SMC, and Panny doesnt recognize it From what I read netgear is certified, but wondering if you had tried any other brand; successful or otherwise... Why dont vist Panny website see what you like and then post questions here...amacam? This post has been edited by VeeJay: Jan 9 2011, 11:30 PM

QUOTE(bluehippy @ Jan 9 2011, 02:18 PM) Hi all, I just got my 50u20k panny plasma yesterday and would really appreciate it if someone could help me out with some calibration numbers. Have really no idea where to start but factory settings seems to be not so nice when background is bright. Colours seem to run a bit. I'd like to know that as well since I just got my 50U20K too. And what do you guys recommend for the burn in? I'm using the picture slides from the THIS WEBSITE to burn in my unit. Not sure if it's any good. I had the brightness and contrast set at 50 only as well for the current burn in period. Is that conservative enough?

Since I know my equipment are reliable and wouldn't stop midway showing the slides or stuck with one slide, I just let it burn with default contrast etc. No point wasting time and just get it over ASAP.

Heh ... there goes my theory. GT retails in M'sia for RM9,999. Market forces are probably different in M'sia but can't help feeling that Panasonic is taking advantage based on the US pricing.
