Using the Legend for almost 2mths now.Notice something weird about the battery consumption. I fully charged the phone and unplugged the cable before 12am everyday. Also turned off the Wifi and MobileInternet before that . Sometimes when i wake up at 7am, battery only left 75% and most of the time is 95% and above. I checked the battery usage when it was at 75% and 50% of it used by Cell Standby. That means the 7-8hrs of idle time actually used up 25% of a fully charged phone. This could also happen in the morning when i am not using the phone at all for several hrs and turned both Wifi and Mobile Internet off, 20-30% gone when the phone is idle.Could it because the phone battery is used up due to poor network signal reception and need to work harder to detect the signal. Anyone experience this funny battery usage pattern like me. BTW , I 'm using Maxis. hmm.gif

If we install and then uninstall application, certain files or folder will still remain in our phone. Is there any application out there that can really clean out all unnecessary files or folder from our phone?

You mean, use the Legend as Wi-Fi router? Officially no, but it'll be included in the 2.2 Froyo update hopefully coming very soon. Or you can always root your phone and you can enable the function.

And no, rooting is not scary if you know what you're doing smile.gif

That is actually possible. Method differs depending on your OS, but it can be done. Here's a youtube link example, search from there.

Same here. I usually charge the phone and head to bed so when I wake up it'll be at 100% - still plugged into the charger. There was once I managed to fully charge my phone before heading to bed so I unplugged it only to wake up the next morning with the battery only at ~80%.

I know it's damaging to keep the battery maxed out at 100% for hours but I can't leave home the next morning with only 80% of battery. So far I've been leaving the charger in overnight - no choice. sad.gif

guys, i want to ask something. i'm using Legend.

why is it showing icon 'E' at the top bar like i'm using Edge even though i have turned off the Mobile Network, set Network Mode to GSM Only, Disable 'always-on mobile data' and turn off Background Data in general sync.

i think when Edge is on, it uses up too many battery life.

Hi,

I encounter this problem also and I wrote to HTC. This is what their reply is:

"Thank you for contacting HTC International. With reference to your query,we suggest you to download and install a 3rd party software which named APNDROID from market. This application will help you to control all the network function. On the other hand,we regret to inform you that so far we haven't been informed whether or when that HTC Legend will be upgraded to Android 2.2 or not. We would suggest that you may check our official website from time to time for any possible update to this issue. Thank you for your continuous support of our products and services. Should you require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us again. We look forward to be of service to you again. HTC Hotline: 1800-238-7788 Service Hours : 8 am - 8 pm, Monday - Saturday (except Public Holidays)"

Hope that this helps.

Added on June 8, 2010, 2:41 pmI think it is very high likely we will get Froyo on our Legend:

This is what I read in one of the link from android.com

http://mobilementalism.com/2010/05/24/21-r...roid-2-2-froyo/

"
Android 2.2 Release Date
Who will get Android 2.2? Well, if you’ve got a phone made by HTC that was first released in 2010, it will get Android 2.2 at some point. This includes Google’s Nexus One, the HTC Desire, Droid Incredible, Legend and Evo 4G. Other Android phones released in late 2009 or throughout 2010 should also be capable of supporting FroYo, and thus shuld get it at some point (Nexus One owners are already getting their update now). "

Hooray!! rclxm9.gif

do u use GPS/map program and then close the map program? what i always had is that once i turn on gps and use map program (even though i didnt turn on Mobile Network), the data network will be turned on automatically. but when u turn off gps/map program, the data network is still running, even if u turn on and off Mobile Network, the E/H signal will come back, unless u turn on and off Airplane mode.

hahaha...i get the same problems as Mecha_frog and first they suggest apndroid, but didnt work...then they suggest apnswitch, worked but this widget kills off the voice network (aka same effect as Airplane mode), so this widget is no go as well....so until now still not resolve and yet htc dare to say that they have no such issues reported before.
