HTC recently unveiled the HTC Legend Android smartphone alongside the Desire and the HD Mini. What sets this particular handset apart from the rest is its aluminum unibody construction. The phone's body is carved out of a single block of aluminum (ala Macbooks) and its internals are slotted into it. This gives the phone a more solid feel while at the same time, giving it a very refined look.

The Legend is not just appealing on the outside, for it packs some mean muscle under the hood. A 600MHz processor (Qualcomm MSM7227) and the same integrated GPU that powers the Google Nexus One (AMD z430) powers the phone. The phone also has 384MB of RAM and 512MB of ROM. Its screen though (at 3.2"), is smaller compared to the Nexus One and the Legend's older brother, the Desire.

The Legend also sports the latest version of the Android operating system, Android v2.1 (or Eclair) coupled with its very own HTC Sense UI.

The HTC Legend is available for pre-order for those in the UK for GBP 399 and will be available on the 1st of April 2010. Hopefully we don't have to wait too long before it arrives on Malaysian shores (with a reasonable price tag). This is one sexy beast I'd love to own.

My hope is that it doesn't break the Rm2.4k barrier. Afterall there's the Desire or Incredible for super high-end users. Please lord have mercy on our bank accounts...

My expectation is that this phone will launch here at around RM1999 price range, replacing the Hero for that segment whereas the Hero's price will drop by around 200 bucks.

**I hope I'm right XD

I was initially looking to get the Desire but judging by its launch price in UK, I think it's gonna be around the HD2's current price (almost 3k). No way I can afford to pay that much...

Update: 1st review is up (added in 1st post) but it's a really short one. Not at all informative enough ><

I think we can actually get a Nexus One for around RM2300 from the forumers in Garage Sales.

Yea, the processor is a real downer but then again, not everyone needs a Snapdragon. Hehe.

True. If HTC were to price the Legend really close to the Desire, I think most people will just go straight for the Desire.

Hey what happened to the 2 dedicated call buttons?

IMO they're quite convenient... Especially if I wanna lock the screen. smile.gif

Don't think it'll be that high. HTC Hero launched here at RM2399. Should be lower than that since the launch price of the Legend is lower than the launch price of the Hero in UK/EU.

I would get a Nexus One too if its warranty was applicable here. Going to SG for a warranty claim is a pain.

it's not a coating. It's MADE of aluminium. A chunk of aluminium with insides carved out to fit the 'guts' of the Legend. Makes it even more awesome huh?

Makes me wonder whether it's recycled aluminium. Then they can market it as a green product. LOL

I hope they release the Legend first before any injunction is made. That way HTC can continue the battle, while we can fool around with the phone.

So far reviews have been good. Most giving it 9/10. =)

My only concern is the Wi-Fi reception. One of the reviews (tech radar i think) mentioned that the Wi-Fi reception was weaker on the Legend compared to other phones. None of the other reviews mentioned that though...
Hopefully the problem only affects that particular unit or is a problem that only affects pre-retail units used for testing/reviewing.

EDIT: Engadget has also mentioned the weaker Wi-Fi in their review. sad.gif
