There are 2 school of thoughts on the SPL meter direction. I read in avsforum that some of the guru advice to point the SPL meter upward or slightly forward. I think the reason is to get uniform SPL level from all speakers. Even REW documentation also mention pointing upward but some SPL meter need to plug in the sponge for more consistent reading. http://www.realtraps.com/art_microphones.htmNote: Pointing up is only for omnidirectional mic. I recheck REW documentation on meter placement recommendation. For low freq (below few hundred hz), pointing straight up is the recommended position. Above few hundred hz, recommended to point the meter at the speaker. http://www.hometheatershack.com/roomeq/wiz...ingstarted.htmlThis post has been edited by pierreye: Jul 2 2010, 08:10 PM

I doubt the Paradigm can outclass the PC12-Plus. PC12-Plus sounds cleaner than the much talked about Velo SPL1200-Ultra. It has tighter bass and digs deep with good control.
I can't remember the exact Paradigm sub model that a customer have. But, his new PB12-Plus just blew it away. Hornyangmoh has a unit of this Paradigm. Why not you guys do a shootout since he is in Miri (IIRC)

Beside carrying a bulky 30kg DSP3400 is a back breaking sexperiance. Anyway I got Velo spl 1200 and I still prefer the DSP-3400 for HT.

In fact my friend have a DSP3400 in his home as the dealer is trying to convince him to buy it so he left it with him. My friend haven't confirm the purchase as he wanted to compare to my PC12+.
I can't do the side by side test until next week end.

I am no expert so a review is impossible lah. I hope I will be home soon so I can do a simple comparison to see how good is my PC12+ hehehe. You don't know how good your equipment is until you hear others.

I would LOVE to hear your final say, be it a review or comment. Just let us have the final conclusion, who will win in the battle of the deep bass...SVS PC-12plus? or Paradigm DSP-3400?
I guess all of SVS subwoofer owners are keep'g our fingers cross....including me.

LOL... My money on PC12-Plus esp for those ULF. For a ported sub, 12-Plus is surprisingly clean too.

Transformer? You mean 1 or 2?
I prefer to use TS and HellBoy II. Hurt Locker has some very good bass scene and it is indeed very punishing for sub to produce the ULF.

The dual HSU ULS-15 are very good. The few sub that can extend to 10hz. Big plus on the size which is quite small for 15" plus wireless which is more flexible on sub placement.
I never heard the sub but according to avsforum, I believe the rating as below:
PB12+ < HSU ULS15 < PB13U < Dual ULS15. Again ULS15 is a seal sub so it depends on your preferences.
If your main application is HT and can only get one sub, PB13U would fit your need.
Anyway, someone had to be the first to get ULS15 in Malaysia.
