htkaki,
When is the SB12-NSD coming? Is the price more than PB-12NSD of RM3.7k?
I thought sealed sub is more suitable for music listening??

I am thinking of getting the PS Audio Quintet that comes with 6 plugs in near future.
But then, I need to convert my UK plug to US type. The big concern is my SVS Sub with the heavy power cord. If I were to change a better power cord with the IEC type, will it filter out any unwanted noises in the SVS bash amp?? Can this improve the sub performance coz I still believe its original power cord. |

For audio part, i think changing the BD60 power cord of 8 type will not improves any further as the lossless format is being bitstream to our avr to decode. Just my opinion.

I went to Sg Wang Plaza & saw A&L Audio Station selling PS Audio Quintet new unit for only RM1.4k...is this cheap? According to them, this filter is very laku... The owner says Subwoofer is not recommended to plug into power filter/conditioner for that matter as it may lacks the omph compare to direct from wall socket |

QUOTE(kumario9 @ Jun 8 2010, 06:20 PM) Hi, Get at least 12-inch subwoofer or else you can hear distortion when crank a little hot. Need to get some feedback. Planning to setup 5.1 (budget) and my preference; 1) Denon AVR 1910 2) Front (Wharfedale 10.1) x 2 Surround (Wharfedale 10.0) x 2 Center (Wharfedale Diamond 10CM) x 1 Subwoofer (Velodyne IMPACT 10") x 1 Is the setup good for movies/music- can advise? Any MAJOR sound impact difference between Velodyne IMPACT 10 and Velodyne CHT-10Q? Which shop can get GOOD PRICE for Wharfedale & Velodyne Subwoofer speakers? Thanks for replying. |

QUOTE(htkaki @ Jun 17 2010, 08:36 AM) Bro, from whom or which shop as there are many fakes XLO Reference Power Cord around? I bought from a guy from hifi4sale called himself Raymond. My XLO is Ref 2 and looks exactly the same as the ebay photo with US plug. I believe the one showed in lowyat is fake one, isn't it? Hope I am buying the original cable and so far, the cable does a good job on my overall sound especially listening to concerts. Reference 3? Here is a comparison of XLO Reference 2 : http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/New-XLO-Reference-2...1-/120481578938 and http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=971333&hl= Current official distributor is The Expert Group (TEG) Sdn Bhd while Maxx Audio is one of the authorized reseller htkaki, I didn;t know you sell XLO power cable. I would have bought from you. And neither do I know you do carry many other brands. I get to know you do sell brand new Mission speakers ht package. |

What are the Cambridge Audio cdp models available, and pictures and retailed price updated in your webpage? |

If DSP-3400 is really selling at RM3,800, it is very very attractive price considering its performance & its 14-inch driver at sub RM4k price range.
But I seriously doubt you can find it at this price range beside probably in Miri. Velodyne CH-12Q is retailing in the region of RM3k to RM3.5k in Kuching. I still think it will be a steal to get a fully imported 14'' sub from Canada at below RM4k. I would wish to visit the AV shop in Miri and maybe can get some other equipments real cheap. |

QUOTE(mpyw @ Jul 21 2010, 03:06 PM) DSP-3400 list price in US is $950 (RM3,135) Hey mpyw, do you feel sad or not since both our SVS PC-12plus are almost on par with Paradigm DSP-3400 for a much lower price?? Street price cheapest is $560 (RM1,848) with the 65lbs weight...shipping can calculate from there.... so if the unit can sell at RM3.8k here, it's very near to US list price and a good value if compare to list price, but if compare to street price....then |

QUOTE(azbro @ Nov 3 2010, 10:28 PM) err..can someone help... What Sub brand are you using? I think something wrong with my Sub.. At certain times, the sub seem got 'krrreeek' sound especially those really loud bass scenes. It happens exactly same scenes everytime.... I changed the cables, clean the contacts and even change the Sub source from the amp to my Dune's Sub out...still got the same Kreek sound at the same loud bass scenes...but other times its OK... I'm not sure what went wrong, the speaker cone looks OK.. Even if I lower the Volume, at the same scenes..the 'kreeek' can be heared. It first happened when i played The legend of Boneknappers Dragon...now the abnormal seems can be heared more often. But for some movies, its OK. sighs... Thanks |

Extracted below from Chris Kyriakakis, CTO Audyssey Lab to comment on "LARGE" & "SMALL" Happy reading. Hi everyone, I thought I could jump in and offer some explanations about Audyssey MultEQ and the crossover issue that is being discussed here. First, some background. The Large and Small differentiation can be attributed on Audyssey's co-founder and Chief Science Office, Tomlinson Holman. When he started the THX program many years ago he proposed the use of these terms to describe whether a speaker should be bass managed or not. When discussing speakers designed to the THX spec that meant that if a speaker has a -3 dB cutoff point of 80 Hz or above it should be called Small and if it can go below 80 Hz it should be called Large. This terminology is now widely used by manufacturers even if the speakers are not THX. This is the case in the Onkyo receiver. Onkyo specified that the decision for Large or Small will be based on 80 Hz. So, when Audyssey MultEQ runs it measures each speaker's response and reports the -3 dB point to the Onkyo bass management system. The problem is that when a speaker has a -3 dB point of, say, 79 Hz, MultEQ will call it "Large" to follow the rules. The Onkyo bass management system then sets it to Large and bass below 79 Hz is not sent to the sub because it is assumed that the speaker will handle it. We are working hard to convince manufacturers to change their thinking about the default settings of their bass management. Some have already done so and have lowered the criterion to 40 Hz. The 705 doesn't do that automatically, so the simple solution is to manually set the speakers to Small after the calibration is finished. When you do that, the crossover values that were found by MultEQ will be applied to all speakers and the bass will be properly redirected to the subwoofer. This manual step is a small inconvenience, but it doesn't have any negative effect on the performance of the room correction filters produced by MultEQ. I hope this helps clear up things. Please let me know if I can answer any other questions about Audyssey. Best regards, Chris Kyriakakis Founder and CTO Audyssey Laboratories |

QUOTE(ronaldjoe @ Nov 6 2010, 09:21 AM) May I come kacau? This is the one and only one in Malaysia, according to Asia Sound. I can buy popcorn. So, can we safely say this one is the Mother of all Subs at the moment? Not a single sub in M'sia can beat this babe? Added on November 6, 2010, 9:26 amAccording to AVS, V2 has better power output compared to V1. The grill although it would block the view of the sexy driver, it would make the sub sound better. |
