Yeah! I got this offer from SCB too...

When i received the letter from SCB offer me a platinum card... I was so happy  biggrin.gif

But when I call to their CS & check what is the credit limit.... And he told me: "6K".  mad.gif platinum credit limit at 6K only? I on the spot ask them to cancel my card... Even my HSBC gold card credit limit is higher that SCB platinum...

ok,understood. So for those bankrupt kaki,if prevoius month got no outstanding amount and following month usage got not enough money to pay full just pay minimum only you will still get charge for the interest with the same amount. Correct ar?

If you foresee don't have enough money to settle in full, then pay the amount you able to re-pay as early as possible after you use it (there is no interest free period for the transaction anymore).

When you read your credit card terms and conditions (can refer to item 10 here), finance charges are charged to RM2000 (not the outstanding balance of RM13) from posting date to your partial payment date when you not fully settled by next due date.

Estimation: RM2000 x 1.25% x 27/30 = RM22.5

Just learn something new today, interest free period only good IF make full payment

It doesn’t really make sense. His payment due date was 25/01/10. Prior to this due date, he had already made a payment of RM1987 on 7/01/10.

Take another example. Let's say his Statement Date is 5th March and Payment Due Date is 25th March. Over the period of 6th Feb to 5th March, he spends RM5000. His outstanding balance shown in the statement on 5th March is RM5000. On 7th March, he makes a payment of RM4999, with RM1 remains unpaid after the Payment Due Date on 25th March. Does it mean that he will be charged an interest based on the full amount of RM5000? The fact is that he has already paid RM4999.

From my understanding, interest will be charged on RM4999 for 3 days (assuming posting date also on 5th March and partial payment of RM4999 made on 7th March). The remaining RM1 will incur 1 full month interest.

You need to indicate clearly, whether the interest rate is 17.5%, 16% or 13.5%, for accurate answer.

Seems like you not fully understand the credit card terms and conditions that you put your signature on it.

This is closest to the correct answer, although the calculation did not take into account compound interest effect.

Note that typical for Malaysian banks, finance charges is calculated up to the last payment date of the current statement cycle. This avoids a situation whereby even if you pay your outstanding in full, you still owe the bank extra due to the effect of compound interest.

Basically you have to register 3 bills (min) for Autopay and with that, you'll be awarded 10k MR. With 10k MR points, you can redeem for GST.

This promo is not application for AMEX Gold CC.

I'm not sure if this is been mentioned at that link I attached along but I received physical pamphlet and it stated clearly not applicable to AMEX Gold CC.

AMEX Gold CC offers 5x MR if you sign up for Autopay.

The 3rd point is:

3. Not applicable to Corporate Cards and Gold Credit Card.

Actually I believe the interest charged can be easily nulled with a call to their hotline since you are not late on your payment at all. Just short of RM 13 only somemore. Easily countered with an excuse like never receive statement, see the figure wrongly or written the cheque's figure wrongly or something like that. Afterall just a small figure.

In accordance with your above explication, the interest charged for EDDIEVH's case should be based on RM1987, and not RM2000. I have calculated the compound interest @17.5% per annum using spreadsheet, based on an outstanding amount of RM1987 from 11/12/09 (transaction posting date) to 7/01/10 (payment posting date). The compound interest should be RM26.85. This figure has not taken into consideration the interest of the balance RM13 yet to be paid.

Anyway, I guess he can request for waiver of the RM22 interest as he only owes the bank a mere RM13.

The service tax is charged on card anniversary. It is already commonly known. Cardholders should be aware of their card anniversary date.

Didn't know the announced amout is less than statement balance due to already included the cash back rebate.
