how is the monthly interest work?
is it count on the balance left if i did not pay the full amount?
can give me the monthly interest for cimb?

Doesn't matter it comes from which bank.

Check your interest rate as advertised in the statement. That figure is per annum rate. Convert it to daily rate and multiply it with whatever outstanding you have. That'll be your interest excluding late payment fee and etc.

I suggest you guys to refer to post #1203 to 1223. It had been discussed already. It is not as straight forward as what you think.

Which among these two cards is highly recommended to keep in terms of benefits n returns? Doesn't matter in terms of reward points or cashback.
Or any other cards from other banks that i should take instead? Plan to keep 2 credit cards.

RHB Travel Money, Visa Wave
HSBC Gold Card
Citibank Clear
UOB One Platinum
Jusco Gold Card
SCB Bugs Bunny Gold Card, Classic Card

Expenditure mostly on groceries, dining but minimal on petrol.

Do any debit cards provide reward points or cashback?

The best debit card for cash back is Alliance Bank.
1% - classic card
1.5% - platinum card
2% - premium card

The reason they gave you the AMEX Gold is most probably because you are not qualified for the AMEX Platinum. Besides, AMEX Gold is actually better than AMEX Platinum. Am talking about the AMEX credit card series, by the way.

if it ever happens, cancel it straight away
i believe the bank will have to absorb the tax if applicable

my mom applied for citibank giant, received it plus another Citi master gold
now asked citibank to cancel both (coz not happy with the extra card), i'll see whether they dare to charge service tax or not rolleyes.gif

btw, citibank application super fast, applied at giant usj on sunday, received the card by courier on Thursday sweat.gif

Service tax is charged immediately after new card got issued, so you still have to pay for it no matter you use/activate/cancel it or not.
Nothing to do with "they dare to charge service tax" or not.

Please file a complain to Citibank and BNM, don't let this happen again and again. Banks SHOULDN'T do business in this way.
Imagine they get you RM1,000,000 loan (or may be another credit card) without your knowledge?

How hard is it to apply a credit card nowadays?
I've been working for 8 months with annual salary 24k. I've tried to apply cc from many banks including hsbc, citibank, alliance, public and cimb, all my applications have been rejected. I even opened a current account at HSBC under grad pack coz might have bigger chance for approval but still failed.
My friend with same salary and started working almost same time like me has already successfully applied a CC from alliance bank and that was his first attempt.
Is it because of me the person and i get rejected all the time but i've got a quite ok photo on my IC sad.gif

Sounds weird. Any previous loans or stuff? Maybe you can check your CCRIS report from Bank Negara.

Since it is a pre-approved card, I guess you won't get charged with the service tax if you do not activate the card.

The 3rd point is:

3. Not applicable to Corporate Cards and Gold Credit Card.

So my memory is strong. biggrin.gif

CHAN of Subang Jaya says he is surprised that his HSBC Amanah Credit Card can only be used at halal shops.
