1 Ques...

iv got 1.09K outstanding amount on my HSBC CC..

if i only paid 1k, d interest is how much for my balance for my next statement??
*
i'd suggest you just clear the RM90. They will charge you late payment charges + interest. So it will come up to like.. maybe 15-20% on the RM90 for your first month.

I thought the RM50 service tax is only charged upon activation of the card?
*
Service are applicable when card is approved. New cards will be charged immediately in your statement.
If you are given 2 cards without your consent, call CS to cancel the 2nd card. If they refuse, you can report to the BNM or police for fraudalent use of your IC details.

I have DA Master, what is the impact of the soon to be announced petrol price hike and subsidy system on the rebate offer?
*
It's anyone's guess. The rebate system is offered by the bank and don't have any tie-ins to the petrol companies. I'd suggest to be prepared for removal of this offer as well.

Not really. If paid on time then only the RM90 will be subjected to interest. Late payment charges will be applicable if you paid after the payment due date.

If paid late = (RM90 + Late payment charges) + interest (based on the 2 earlier element)
If paid on time = RM90 + interest on RM90 calculated on daily rest based on roughly 1.5% per annum.

how much is the pay-late payment cost around? so it is safe to pay early right? if not then you will be compounded by their late-payment interest and interest charged right?

I don't care so much about late payment charges coz the larger impact is your financial history that is being kept by the banks. If you are late, it will be recorded and shared across all banks. If you are a habitual late paymaster, be prepared for the consequences as you attempt to obtain financial products from other banks.

Even if paying full outstanding amount on or few days before due date, interest still charged for that particular month (from statement date until full payment date) since interest is daily basis.

Hmmm.... For me i would have take drastic action on that bank. "They" are not honest, not professional and not ethical for doing business in that way.

Quote from their core values:

We are honest, professional and ethical in all our dealings

Yeah ... I don't tolerate such nonsense as well. Often it is the work of a desperate agent trying to meet quota but such maneuvers spoils the bank's image along the way. I had one experience on this and the bank took action against their own cc agent.

Still ... consumers need to be aware of their own rights and not so blindly sign up for 2 cards just because it is free. Well with the RM50 service tax imposed per card, I think this will be less of a problem.

Late payment charges is only charged if payment is made after due date or less than minimum is paid at/before due date. He will only be liable for finance charges and loss of 20-days interest-free period for retail transactions.

Some Petronas (usually in the city/highway) accept Amex, just that you need to swipe at counter and not at the pump. This also applies to Caltex, Bhp, and Esso/Mobil. Only Shell accepts Amex at the pump.

nono, both of you are mistaken.

interest is calculated in a per annum basis.

So assuming interest is 12%, then u get 1% a moth. 18% then its 1.5% a month etc.

BUT, that is just interest. You still have to pay your principal. If not you will be forever in debt.

No, interest rate for credit cards is quoted at per annum basis, but charging is on daily compounded basis. Refer to the following for more details:

For Caltex, I faced no problem swiping AMEX at the self-service kiosk like Shell.

If your salary is bank in using Maybank, then the chance that success is high.

It is correct. It is called "Trailing Interest" ... what happened is that interest will be calculated up to the point that full payment is received. (If you have any carry forward balance)

So you will still see a little bit of interest being charged to your account even after you do a full payment.

A question;
Regarding the credit limit, usually is it the case that banks increase our credit limit automatically, say after using the card for a certain period, or does one have to request for their limit to be increase themselves ?

It depends on bank.

For CIMB DA, they'll increase the limit after certain period of usage and I got it.

For MBB, I got nothing even though I used the card for reaching 2 years.

David83: I think you need to manually fill up the Credit Limit increase form at any Maybank branch.
