we can analyze impact on rm50 service tax per card per year almost in many terms..include socially..when people canceling cc, people will start carry cash..snatch theft & robbery will happen more frequently... our country will back to third world country instead of developing... for me its a backward step.... 1malaysia, rakyat burdened, cronies will gain.... tahniah 1malaysia boss...

QUOTE(he-sham @ Oct 24 2009, 07:32 PM)
so u're buying the idea of "to promote prudent spending" is effective by charging this rm50/card/year ? For me its unnecessary burden to rakyat... who are use to have cc debts will always have cc debts plus together with the charges....who are collecting cc for hobby and can afford to pay high annual fees & service tax will always collecting and never stop collecting...

at the end of the day, the idea of "to promote prudent spending" never been effective anyway.... plus "to promote prudent spending" also i think less related to charge card user & supplimentry card becoz its publicly known as for convenience rather than credit tools...the G simply want to make easy money here...
*
AGREE!! . What a joke.. To promote prudent spending, by asking us take out rm50 which is an expense to us, to pay you?

From another point of view, this may be considered as a debit transaction to your cc account which gives EVERYONE an outstanding balance even if you don't use your card. So next month, interest maybe be charged on top of this RM50 if you didn't settle it on time, making more revolving accounts which worsens the problem. Cruel la they all brows.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif .

Najib, I am canceling my card at your brother's bank (CIMB) and I am keeping the Maybank card.

PS. I have cards at 5 banks. I pay my CC bills promptly. If I go abroad for work, I may need RM10k to RM15k. I don't want to use cash so that is why I need a few credit cards at least so that I can spend first and pay when my employer reimburse me.

Eugenet,

Still got ppl like u kind enuff to finance yr company biz expense via yr own CC? U need to tell yr company to provide Corp Card with Central Bill and Central Pay, then u dun need to use yr CC lor. I'm using AMEX Corp Card for all biz expense........... rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

Yes, applicable to all credit and charge cards, regardless of whether there is an annual fee imposed on the card or not

Anybody read the reason given by PM to backup his stand on the RM 50 service fee?

Totally unacceptable!

still unclear ..do we need to cancel the card before January 2010 to avoid this fees or until the month our credit card will be renewed each year. I assume the month stated on your card (e.g. member since XX/XX or expire on XX/XX).

if your 3 cards are dormant, what does the bank lose by you cancelling them?

There's always the 'emergency' excuse. I used one of the card once to swipe for a laptop so that I'll hv enough credit limit for other stuff.

Thx, will check out on that VISA Electron thing but then it would mean opening an account with Public Bank....will consider it nevertheless
No need to open another account with Public Bank. Your account number for the VISA Electron is the 16-digit card number. No passbook. They will however send you an itemised statement to you once a month rclxms.gif

If thats your saying, what right does the government has over us that we cant choose for ourself and instead need to be reminded of the fact by punishing us RM50 for each card?
Which is why 9 out of 10 people in this thread are flaming the government since Friday evening including myself because most of us think it's a stupid policy that will never solve the problem. High income country ? We're still far from that Mr 1PM.

Hi, anyone know whether there's a way to use pin number instead of signature when using CC like what they do in EU? I feel that it isn't really that safe anymore to use signature. pin number would be more safer.

If i'm not mistaken, the one you saw them entering PIN number instead of signing a slip in the EU such as Germany and Switzerland are not credit card. Instead they are paying using debit card. Unlike USA and here in Asia, debit card is actually more popular in Europe. The cards they use are mostly Maestro and Maestro belongs to Mastercard.

The first year annual fee is waived. From second year forward once you have charged more than RM1200 to the card the annual fee of RM24 will be automatically waived rclxms.gif

Same fee waiver criteria applies to the PBB ING debit Mastercard. Both cards will earn you 0.5% cash back.

The MBB Visa Debit is linked to the saving account? So this is more dangerous than PB Vise Electron?

Yes. So is PBB Day2Day VISA debit card. Only PBB VISA Electron, PBB ING Mastercard, PBB UTAR Mastercard and PBB TARC Mastercard are not linked to your savings account. In fact you can apply for these cards even if you are not a Public Bank savings/current account holder.

i found inconsistency...where chinapress article on this issue...

the terms they used....will lead to an understanding of...

the RM50 service tax will only impose to Free-for-life card....not those with annual fee...

inconsistent info now...better wait for more clarification.
