if i were u, i'll cancel DA & keep MBB Petro coz it's TP will be ongoing &

Your only reason is because of evergreen points?

QUOTE(hebe87 @ Nov 3 2009, 11:29 PM)
depending on your credit card spending, keep 1 credit card is better than using debit card despite the rm50 service tax. the benefit that you can gain from credit card outweight debit card, provided you spend a lot on credit card

ya, MBB card is good, with the on the spot redemption, the point is more worth its value
*
Since I will console most of my spendings to Amex Gold, I believe transaction for the other CC will only as backup in case Amex not accepted and also for insurance premium payment. I still unsure should I pay RM50 for this backup card...

As for MBB on the spot redemption, is it during treatpoint roadshow?

Well debit card might be the way to go, but as some mentioned debit card has their own limitation too:
- some debit card link to your bank account directly, means if lost or theft, all your savings are at risk.
- in case of emergency, you are limited to amount of money available in your account
- I not sure if we can pay insurance premium, or auto bill payment by debit card
And also debit card comes with a spending cap per day at RM5,000 (for most debit cards).

ya, AMEX offers at least 1% rebate on all purchases, up to 5% rebate... however its acceptance is low

MBB on the spot redemption is available at participating outlet, and you can redeem the same item for less treatpoint because they don't have to courier the item to you. just go http://www.maybank2u.com.my/mbb_info/m2u/p.../PRO-Promotions for more info

I think the only reason people are keeping Maybank card is because of TreatsPoints, the never expire TreatsPoints.

Well worth the keeping if you think about it cause ultimately your points will worth something when accumulated in huge number, provided if you're not the type who roll on cards though smile.gif

i think it is same also for other card issuer, not specific to cimb bank only

i think not much ppl will purposely keep other  bank's card and cancel cimb card just because of its CEO

Oooops, i was the one. I keep my 11 principles n 7 supplements until further notice, but purposely canceled my DA cards 2 days after mr. najis' announcement.

Well, I will keep all my cards till Dec 15, awaiting further announcement from banks. If there are no encouraging news from the banks, I will definitely cancel some cards.

1. ALLIANCE PLAT VISA - stay, due to good cash rebate rate
2. ALLIANCE YOUNIQUE MC - cancel, even though getting good cash rebate
3. SCB VI - cancel, due to whopping AF although benefits are great
4. SCB JUSTONE TITANIUM MC - stay, best ever rebate cc, simply irresistible!
5. AMEX GOLD CC - stay, due to current 15% rebate promotion, reversing my previous decision of terminating it!

By the way, I am now in Dubai but I am surprised to learn that some restaurants in the largest shopping mall in the world, The Dubai Mall, do not accept Amex.

Better rewards mostly. AMEX gives you at least 2x membership rewards points for every Ringgit charged and up to 10x membership rewards points which can then be exchanged for cash rebate, vouchers, frequent flyer miles or gifts.

2x MR points for all AMEX range of cards except AMEX Gold credit card and Maybank Islamic Ikhwan AMEX. These two cards will give you 5x MR/TP points instead. However please note that most Petronas stations and all BHP stations do not accept AMEX.

Get a Shell co-branded like Citibank Shell Visa.

Or get any CC that gives cash rebate like CIMB DA Mastercard, CIMB Petronas Mastercard, CIMB Islamic Petronas Mastercard and etc.

Otherwise, go for CC that gives 5x points like AMEX Gold CC, MBB Visa Petronas, MBB Ikhwan Visa/AMEX and etc.

A lot of BHP stations in Klang Valley (no idea about outside) do accept Amex but not at the pump. You need to go to the counter, same as Petronas (for those which do accept). You can check by looking for the Amex logo next to the door to the shop.

No such problem for me using AMEX at Shell. The same goes for Caltex.

Hi all, regarding CC cancellations, usually how long will it be effective?
Let say I cancel my cards today at bank by filling up cancellation form. Does this mean my card is cancelled starting today? Or bank need few days time to process the cancellation?
