dear all,

will merchants charge you surcharge for using a debit card? and if they do, they usually will tell the shopper, right......?

Ask them before you swap it.

You need summit and apply maybank2u premier account online, after 2 or 3 days the branch office will call you walk into the branch and verify your application.

i have just signed up for the Premier Mudharabah Account from maybank... when i went over the counter to ask if i could register for the maybank2u premier account, they helped me process with it, and later on when i check only i got to know that mine is the mudharabah account which requires a minimum balance of rm50,000 at all times else there will be a RM5 fees per month, as compared to the maybank2u premier account which needs to have a RM1k balance within 6 months time.... however, i got my platinum debit as well..

so in order to actually have the platinum debit, must i have the Premier Mudharabah Account? else why did they help me to create this particular account instead of the mb2u premier account which i opted for in the beginning?

Added on March 17, 2011, 1:27 pmjust went out to clarify, the officer that processed my application was out, so her colleague was saying that it's a miscommunication, and i have to apply it online only and then only proceed to the branch.... useless officer, never even tell me she is assigning the mudharabah account to me instead, when i opted for mb2u premier in the first place... bad experience

Thanks he-sham. Always wondered how to preset the amount at Esso's pump terminal as I like to have rounded up figures. Esso's procedure seems to be the inverse of Shell's. I suppose I should swipe the Smiles loyalty card before Credit Card as usual? Will try anyway.
*
at Esso pump terminal the simplify steps are:

1) Preset desired amount (key in & enter)
2) Slot in debit/credit card (remove the card after been authorized)
3) Slot in Smiles loyalty card (remove the card after been authorized)
4) Start fueling rclxms.gif

yes shell pump terminal procedure inverse because it ask to slot bonuslink card first... but as for my survey, i never able to preset desired amount if using debit(or credit) card at pump terminal in any shell station... unless go to the cashier counter terminal...

@he-sham Appreciate your step-by-step instructions :]
For Esso, I go through steps 1, 3 first and then only 2, thereafter 4. Tested...this works as well.
Reason? Some forummers have reported that after swapping their credit/debit card, problem somehow arises with their Smiles card!

For Shell, I have had success with presetting desired amount at pump terminal using both credit or debit card. What I experienced though is that I can only do so at very new Shell Service Stations card terminals. So far, the only such station having the newer card terminal (at pump) is the Scuderia Shell kiosk at Bukit Rimau, nearby Carrefour Bukit Rimau.

Anyone using Debit Card by Bank Rakyat here? I read the terms and agreement that if you used the debit card to withdraw cash at others bank ATM, the charges would be RM12.

This is mind boggling since Bank Rakyat Normal ATM card is already MEPS Bankcard so standard charges of RM 1 but why the debit card charges is RM12

the link to information regarding their debit card http://www.bankrakyat.com.my/idebitkad

i believe is due to different platform, coz atm using MEPS, while for debit card using either PLUS or Cirrus platform thus the charges is higher

Select Cash Advance. It's not really cash advance but that is the way to withdraw money from your standalone PBB debit card.

Just to share information if anyone interested in the debit card offered by bank rakyat.

I just went to bank rakyat yesterday and find out that if you apply for a debit card, your current bankcard would not be taken away. meaning you will have two card for the account, one is ATM card another one is debit mastercard. the best part is both card will have annual fee, one card is RM 8 so total you have to pay RM16.

the people at counter themselves says don't take not worth it.

No Problem. You won't be charged anything as long as you use only Public Bank ATM.

It's the annual fee for your ATM card which is RM8 only.
